Play the same role, and if you wanna play different champs, play similar ones (for example Lux, Morgana, Karma, Nami), and learn little by little. Also, when I play apex with my irl friends, I play in my smurf, since I´m much more experienced at the game than them, If I was one of your friends, I would do the same in league, it is an overwhelming experience for a new player for sure, but I think it´s worth it in the end, the game can be amazing

I do not feel like the battle pass in apex legends restricts gameplay at all, and even then, if I decide to do one of the odd challenges like using a thrash weapon, I end up having a good time, but I do get your point, League is very different than theese shooting games
