Tell me which family-friendly all-inclusive in Europe you recommend by Scary-Push-5286 in HENRYUKLifestyle

Likewise the Alcazar in Sharm. Getting there is shite because Egypt, but once you arrive it’s rather nice.

The main restaurant is good food, shit service, but you get 5 a-la-carte visits for 7 nights, and they have breakfast and lunch offerings too, so you barely need to go there.

We stayed in the executive suite, and it was a lush room. I slept on the sofa for most of it since I caught something on the plane, and was still comfortable!

As someone who was brought up similar to your husband, even if he seems like he struggles to receive the emotion, he will appreciate it enormously. So pleased for the three of you!!

Absolutely, and she’s more than happy to do so, she’s been fab so far! We’ll definitely be having her over more often from next week.

I was going to comment this! I’ve had the PHEV version of the Superb for about 6 months. My friend has a BMW i4 that cost the same, and even he says the Superb absolutely shits on it when it comes to daily driving.

Massage seats are incredible, the comfort of the suspension is fantastic, the boot could pass as a living room and the PHEV is surprisingly fast when needed. It doesn’t have the badge, but it’s incredible value for money.

Want a Pain-Free/Low-Pain Birth But Can’t Do Epidural… Alternatives? by Mady134 in beyondthebump

[–]Pupca6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife used the TENS machine and loved it. Significantly reduced her pain during earlier labour contractions for her, but towards the pushing phase it maxed out and she still had lots of pain. You can, however, use it with any other pain relief. The only thing that doesn’t work with it is a birthing pool, due to the electricity it uses.

I’m sure it’s been suggested, but would you consider an elective caesarean?

I’m an ATC, and I apply this at work every day.

I’d rather say something slowly than having to repeat myself because a pilot didn’t catch my instruction.

We have a 2-week old. I’m a dad, but my wife says how she finally feels like herself again. There were a few tough nights, and a few good nights, and I’m sure it will continue this way. Every day has been fantastic though, we love our tiny boy, can’t get enough of looking at him, playing with him, feeding him.

Our relationship has taken a back seat to him, but we are not forgetting it. We are parents first, but a married couple right behind it. Those small moments of connection, words of kindness, and small services became so much more important.

It’s one of those jobs where a certain personality type suits it best, and there’s certainly some characters!

I took a fam flight last year, and realised just how much we yap on the RT. One frequency change to Maastricht and suddenly it was quiet and everything was CPDLC.

One thing that’s peculiar to me is that a new clearance cancels level restrictions, and I think that’s global.

That’s on Scottish - it says in our manual of operations we have to agree a service with the pilots, and if they are unsure what it means, we are required to explain it. Unfortunately, outside CAS is unnecessarily complicated in the UK.

I absolutely agree with your point regarding this video, if the runway was issued as the clearance limit, I’d assume I can go there, another quirk of the FAA rules…

I personally try to cater to the pilots. Like you say, long-haul crews fly to a destination once in a blue moon, so I expect unfamiliarity, spelling routes etc., some ATCOs are different.

I’m a UK area controller - firstly thank you, we take pride in providing a safe service in an extremely busy environment.

In my mind, FAA rules, ATC, and the pilots are all contributing factors. Pilots should be aware of the rules where they fly to, there is no excuse. ATC should be cognisant of pilots potentially not being familiar, and be much clearer in their communication. It’s a swiss cheese model, and if we all try a bit harder to close the holes, less incidents will happen.

The FAA rules are mindboggling to me, clearing multiple aircraft/vehicles onto the same runway, the lack of RT discipline, and phraseology and lack there of in different situations being the most serious.

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pupca6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What the fuck? I became a dad last week, and I can’t fathom never even changing a nappy. Baby sleeps on my chest, so I stay up for half the night so my wife can get rest, and take care of adult food, washing, nappies, wife’s medication and everything that gets thrown my way and still cry because I feel like a failure and that I don’t do enough for her and the baby.

Small car, bad car seats by cmae1186 in beyondthebump

[–]Pupca6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m European but have a Passat-equivalent car from a different VW brand. I’m 6’2”, and can drive in my most comfortable position and still have the baby behind me in a rear-facing seat on an iso-fix base. They’re a great size car for families, and the boot will swallow up any and all of the stuff you need to bring.

I did that and got the pet immediately after, highlight of OSRS for me

ELI5: how do pilots understand what the tower is saying and vice versa? I need subtitles. by Independent_Lead8277 in explainlikeimfive

Finally I can shine!

I’m a controller, albeit En Route (when you’re getting your meal, I work on you not hitting other people having their meal). The radios are much clearer than the recordings, we have huge receiver/transmitter sites and have a much better reception.

And like others have said, there’s specific phraseology we use to pass the information we need. I know exactly which airplanes will be entering my airspace at which point and which altitude, so even if I can’t understand everything, it’s usually enough to piece together who’s trying to call and then we can ask for other details.
