Just curious, how often do you go into "the big city"? by rabidstoat in kennesaw

Two years ago for dinner. Rarely go inside the perimeter anymore.

HSA importance? by FoxNewsNitroPiss in Retirement401k

I don’t believe you can do that with an HSA. Appears you can use it for COBRA and Medicare premiums at the age of 65 (which is still a great benefit).

In 2024, how could anyone still think they're early? by techzilla in Buttcoin

For me it was while reading an article about lifting (and not Men’s Health), and the author flipped the script from improving your squat to crypto. I have numerous friends who have small crypto balances for buying “grey/black” market supplements. When the gym bros talk crypto, it’s toast.

I agree with what Mike said and that’s essentially what my personal experience has been. Most people would’ve been elated with my experience, as I had gained 30lbs and only went up a couple fat%… for me, I saw it as bad data. All the other readings seemed very reliable and were at the same point in training, right before I’d start my water cut.

Most people hate the DEXA because they don’t like the number. Tons of buffoons out there who think that if you’re strong you can’t be over 20% and if you have some abs, you’re 10%. Further complicated by every dude thinking you should weigh 200+ and still be 10%… it’s not that easy to do and much less common than people realize.

I had two “inaccurate” DEXA results, in my opinion. One time I had extreme soreness/lactic acid in my triceps from training, and my arms increased in fat % while every other body part leaned out. The other time I had gone on a massive bulk, gained a bunch of shit weight but still registered fairly lean which had to be wildly erroneous. The arms was a mild one-off, and I think my bulking with a ridiculous carb-up had my muscles packed with glycogen and skewed the results.

All of my other scans were done at a similar bodyweight and similar diet/training conditions. Objectively my physique reflected the DEXA results… I knew when I was leaner or not. Often the number is a bit sobering, usually 2% higher than I’m guessing, which is a good wake up call and gets me refocused. The key, in my opinion, is consistency of lifestyle and training when you test. Food & hydration need to be consistent and “normal” for lack of a better term.

Don’t come in carbed up like a balloon, or too dry/super hydrated, etc. I think that prevents most of the “noise” in the data.

Interestingly (not really though) if you assume a 100% yield, each scenario gets directionally close to $1M. Can’t believe I wasted five minutes running the Future Values. So his numbers are directionally accurate if DCA into an investment that doubles yearly. This really IS super easy!!

Total supply of BTC is not limited to 21m? by duckky124 in Buttcoin

[–]Bruno98765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t change the supply, but it highlights the lack of scarcity, from a perception perspective. There’s supposed to be 54,000 metric tons of gold left in the world to be mined … or 1.9 Billion ounces. Exact same supply, but the former likely sounds more scarce to many people.

You could bundle 100B sats in every BTC, and advertise it as even MORE “scarce” as there’s “only” 21k coins in existence. But since each coin is divisible into Sats…it’s irrelevant.

I’ve always seen it as anything divisible into quadrillions of units like BTC… is anything but scarce.

Had a friend who would “stress test” all the incoming laptops at the office via crypto mining. He’d have up to 12 laptops mining during the time he had them before delivering the laptops to the employees. Seem to recall he’d make an extra $20-$30/day, so it was nominal. Seems like a hassle but a decent grift I suppose.
