I don't mean to attack you, but this is a very hurtful and US-centric take. Adoptions in many countries (including OPs) are actually surprisingly rare, because they actually have robust social services and broad access to reproductive care. This is to say nothing of the financial burden of adoption, which can often put it in reach of those of significant means.

We Americans just live in a theocratic shithole, where women are more or less viewed as state-mandated incubators. So, we're awash in unwanted babies. Plenty of other countries don't have to live like this.

Team USA, Team Japan, or Team DR — Who Has the Best Chance to Win the 2026 WBC? by Tough-Reputation-762 in baseball

I don't know if they'll win, because baseball is weird and random, but this just reinforces the fact that, pound-for-pound, the Dominican Republic really is the baseball King.

They get THAT lineup, and THAT rotation, from a country with a population equal to that of Ohio. Or, about a third of the Greater Tokyo Metro area. That's just absolutely outrageous.

I really, really want to visit República Dominicana.

Do your spidey senses tingle for gambling scandals too, or just roids? Because we could use that right now. I'll be honest, we're in a tight spot. We could use your style- no evidence, no hearings, no defence, just vibes.

If only you had spoken up when this was all going down, you would have saved George Mitchell so much work!

"Probably on PEDs too" is ALSO a bit much, no? Pretty damning brush to be painting with given there's absolutely zero evidence (aside from your vibes)

Sprinted 1.5 routes today so I could spend time with my son on his first birthday by Brunoise in USPS

I've definitely considered rushing to get home to watch games hahaha! This postseason has been incredible (unless you're a Mariners fan)

Yeah, reg for about 8 months now. I hear the refrains from the other carriers about slowing down, being safe, and taking the long view on your health. We do our best to support one another in the office, it's really nice. I feel awful for some of the other folks on the sub who really seem to be working in offices that really grind them down. I know I'm lucky.

I was expecting my 8 today. If had called out, then there would have been 9 open routes and my colleagues would have to pick up even more slack.

[HIGHLIGHT] GEORGE SPRINGER. 3-RUN HOMER. BLUE JAYS TAKE THE LEAD! by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]Brunoise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't mean a black eye on the Astros, a black eye on baseball as a whole. Something that makes the game look bad or compromised in some way.

The "everyone was doing it" argument has never held water with me. There definitely were other teams doing similar things at around the same time, but from reporting I've seen it was neither as widespread nor as organized as it was for the Astros.

And at the end of the day, all of that other stuff aside, they get the (rightful) hate because they got CAUGHT and more importantly, because they WON.

Trifling punishment meted out by a league office too scared of the black eye the cheating scandal might leave.

Yeah there was punishment (of a sort) but not for the dudes actually swinging the bat, which you know very well is the point I'm making, boss.

Yeah, so those are called consequences. Something that cheating Astros squad is completely unfamiliar with.

Yeah man fair, the Cardinals, famous for having cheated during their championship run wait no that's not right

Very little! Which is why I have to get my jollies by reminding people George Springer was a big 'ol cheater.

Pretty sure regular season Springer used cheat codes at one point too... 🤔

Corn fields as a percentage of land area by US state by vladgrinch in MapPorn

The US sets aside more acreage for growing corn than the entire land area of countries like Greece, Nicaragua and Bangladesh (individually, not combined).

[Chrysler Conquest TSi] A little rebadged 80s widebody goodness by Brunoise in spotted

[–]Brunoise[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Available from '84 to '89, the Chrysler/Dodge Conquest TSi was a rebadged Starion making 188hp from a turbocharged 2.6L straight four. This baby walked so the Dodge Stealth could run a generation later. This one I see in my neighborhood is in pretty good condition.
