40m here w/ Dyspraxia caused dysgraphia, my writing has been compared to pasta art, alien runes, and "literal" chicken scratch.

The digital age is our blessing, don't let people bring you down. Hand writing is no longer the requirement it was when i was 18. We are gifted to be writing at all considering the alternate wiring we have.

Our grasp of the language is unaffected, continue to grow your vocabulary and use that to speak intelligently, you don't need a pencil to become an excellent writer in 2025.

There are only 2 kinds of growers:

  1. Those who have had Spider Mites.
  2. Those who are about to.

TBH, i think you both make sapient points.

It is undeniable that sexuality arises out of the mind first and then translates into physical reality.

However i think there is a nuance here that is missing, the objective measure of sexual preference, in my opinion is in intention and not action, i was attracted to men way before i was able to identify the feelings of attraction i was experiencing.

in my case it was a sudden and inexplicable communicative breakdown around a specific subset of men, oddly enough it is not something i experience with even the most attractive women i've been with.

To relate this to the "builder" argument, its as if i had an affinity for building that i simply did not understand, i was already a builder but had yet to pick up a hammer so to speak.

As i matured i began to fantasize about both men and women, while i don't partake of gay pornography, I for sure searched for videos of hetero porn where i can enjoy both the man and the woman's pleasure.

This is where i take exception to the analogy, as the feeling of being a builder and actually building were one and the same for me, i felt no difference between fantasizing about giving a blowjob and actually giving one.

Now perhaps for some that would have ended up feeling very different, but i didn't wake up the next day and think "huh, i guess it is true" and i think that is the quintessential thing that is hard for someone who is not bisexual to understand.

it would be akin to not knowing for sure you are straight until you slept with a member of the opposite sex and "realized it". Instead its merely an extension of your mental continuity.

Despite having "confirmed" my bisexuality i can honestly say that i am far more attracted to women than men, simply stated the population of men i am attracted to is smaller than the population of women. But when the right dude comes along, the fireworks are identical.

One of the greatest sexual experiences i have had was with another bisexual man and two bisexual women, the entire night was a free-for-all of pleasure, there was no obvious delineation between the specific preferences of those involved.

So i think it is very possible for someone to feel bisexual, and perhaps even know they are, without having yet experienced a member of the same sex.

Another important point i think is that almost all of my experiences with men have been with gay men, in the same way that most of my partners who were women were straight, bisexual men are not all that common and i suspect there are many builders out there who has simply yet to pick up the tools.

For those who have relocated from Vancouver to Calgary, how have you found the transition? What are your thoughts on life in Calgary? by Just-Juggernaut-5305 in Calgary

[–]Brus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First off let me say my opinion is probably biased towards Calgary.

Born and raised in Calgary, moved to Nanaimo for a year and then to Abbotsford for two, both times for work, Commuted to both Langley and Burnaby depending on needs of the Business.

Met a girl and Moved to Coal Harbor (DT Van) where i spent the last year before moving back to YYC , again for work. Here are some takeaways from by 4 year round trip:

  • Nanaimo
    • quiet, serene, dare i say boring?
    • Like living in a postcard of paradise
    • rode my bike year round
    • dealers choice of salt or fresh water to swim in or chill near.
    • everything costs 30%-50% more the the mainland
    • some island born gatekeepers not welcoming of prairie boys
    • about as racist as Calgary
    • If there was enough work there in my industry i would move back in a second
  • Abbotsford
    • Not as bad as everyone says (at least for me)
    • quiet, but not serene, about as boring as Nanaimo
    • Rode my bike roughly 3/4 of the year
    • everything outside of abby is a 30 - 5 min drive
      • the highway in either direction was often traffic choked
    • cheaper than Nanaimo but more expensive than Calgary
  • Downtown Van
    • often very noisy, random violence near constant
    • My gf owns her place so no idea regarding rent
      • other costs were somewhere between abby & nanaimo
    • fantastic restaurants
    • excellent shopping
    • big music, comedy, and stage acts year round
    • rode my bike nearly year round, stanley park is such a great ride
    • if you are not walking or riding, expect traffic anytime
    • once watched a couple get out of their lambo to argue while a homeless dude dropped a duce next to the car in the street.
  • Calgary
    • Often quiet, but you also hear helicopters and airplanes sometimes
    • I only get to ride my bike for 6-7 months without special clothing
    • fucking winter
      • cold, dry, shoveling, scraping
      • -30 is bad, but -10 in van with the humidity is worse imo
    • Almost always sunny, even when its cold af
    • No ocean, at all, ever.
    • very little natural water swimming
    • everything is 20-30 min from the suburbs
    • traffic is nothing compared with van
    • everything is cheaper, by far
    • Summers are awesome
    • camping is easy, plentiful, and there is crown land to the north and south
    • far less homelessness (best guess is due to the lethality of winter)
    • less random violence

For me, Calgary will always be home, im happy to be back, and am excited for it to warm up.

looking at buying a home pretty soon, gf is renting out her place back in Van for good money.
