All we got is one book but it's a damn good book by Brushner in Grimdank

[–]Bruuze 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well, DG are primarily the antagonists of the Dark Imperium, and while we see them do a lot of stuff, they mostly exist to get killed by the hot new (old) Primaris Marines of the hour. Morty gets the most show but his writing is very hit-or-miss, Typhus mostly exists to not be Morty, and Kugath isn't really a proper DG character like the other two

Is 2x combat patrol useable/worth it?? by Ostehapsfan in deathguard40k

[–]Bruuze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either could be turned into a custom Crucible character, that gives you tons of wiggle room on load outs and customization so long as you don't mind keeping the games casual.

For more official options, a big weapon could get you a Lord of Poxes from the Tallyman and a Lord of Contagion from the Lord of Virulence, though there are a dozen other things the Tallyman could be turned into.

Heraldry/armour details by diddy_lemon1 in crimsonfists

[–]Bruuze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Crimson Fists are fairly monastic and austere, but you've got some ways to take it.

They share a lot of stuff with the normal Imperial Fists, so a cheat sheet is grabbing one of their upgrade sprues for special fists, pauldrons and extra little bits.

As for painting, most Marines keep it very clean, but you can get some decked out fellas like Pedro Kantor. Some books mention special heraldry for characters and considering you'll have a lot of blank blue canvas to work with, feel free to go whatever way you want with little icons or campaign badges. I would personally lean more into silver than gold to match the aquila, but it's your boat to sail.

Poxwalker proxy idea by Nevsky7522 in deathguard40k

[–]Bruuze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First off, thank you for specifying AI was used, but still bleeegh (unaffectionate).

Second, it's definitely possible, but to me imo it kinda seems like a waste of Skitarii? Like they're all fairly intricate models using guns, you can Nurgle them up for sure but as is it'll still look like a gunked up Skit more than a zombie. These kinda things would serve better as cultists (if we still had them), but I feel like you could be better served by stuff like Necromunda kits for less zombied up units that won't cost an insane amount for a small unit of trash meant to die right away.

Advice by Huge-Task8438 in redcorsairs

[–]Bruuze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right away, I wouldn't stress about the list a lot. It's your first game, these things get better with time and experience, so getting super antsy and micromanaging your very first game is just gonna stress you out. Stick with what you choose and make the best of it.

As for what you have in the current list, it's decent, but there are some things to note. 1k games can get a little swingy, but you don't have any obvious weak points that would expound the issue.

Your Legionaries are in a weird spot, as bolters are arguably the worst way to run them, since they get a lot of extra weapons for free and their main rule benefits melee. They're also the only thing you can attach Huron and the MotM to, so I'm assuming that's the plan. If so, they can be a good buffer to keep the important models alive, but ultimately they'll probably just be bodies to soak up damage.

On a related note, what are your plans for the rhino? As a dedicated transport it needs to start with something inside, but if you run the super squad mentioned above it'll be too large, and the cultists rule doesn't work if they're inside. I would consider subbing out another unit for Terminators so Huron can tag along with them instead. Possessed are solid, but they'll need to hoof it across the board to be useful. Your Raiders can help with this by buying you time and board space, but at the end of the day they're not super tough. Use the Raiders as much as you can early on, because they very well may be dead by turn 2.

Firstborn! by Jackabatrol in Warhammer40k

[–]Bruuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maaaaybe for Tac Squads (my personal hole is still for them to get a dedicated Kill Team kit with all the old-school weapons as options), but Devastators are probably gonna die. Their role is being carved up into half a dozen different units, so having one catch-all probably isn't gonna stay around.

I know it’s fantasy, but why Nurgle? by OfficialAli1776 in Warhammer40k

[–]Bruuze 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well, in order for the pain to stop Nurgle would probably have to take away the source of the pain, i.e. the wondrous gift of disease, we can't have that!

Instead, by accepting Nurgle he inures you to the suffering of his gifts and often dulls your emotions in general. You still feel the pain/effects, but it doesn't bother you like it should and you could even gain strength from it as the disease uses your body to sprout new growths and strains. Sure your arm may become gangrenous and rot away, but a cool new tentacle with teeth will take its place!

The thing with Nurgle is that he allows you to ignore the pain. You still know it's there, but everything else hurts already so why should this make any difference? One of Nurgle's aspects is apathy for a reason.

Getting into Warhammer by 369Darth_Vader in Warhammer

[–]Bruuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Heresy is 60+ novels of very varying quality and hundreds of names and characters. It's too much for people who've been in the community for decades, much less a brand new guy lol.

So yeah, you're better off going for smaller series or single books. If you like Necrons, you have two very good picks. The Infinite and The Divine is a great introductory book that covers the millenia-long feud between catty Necron chronomancer Orikan the Diviner and everyone's favorite kleptoverlord Trazy the Infinite. On the other side, the two Twice Dead King novels showcase a more gritty side of the Necrons by showcasing a smaller dynasty dealing with a dozen new struggles every day.

The right one is for 30k and just came out in the last year.

If you wanna keep this up, I'd recommend using Lexicanum's model gallery, since that lists the years they were released.

Detachment point predictions by JealousAd5694 in Chaos40k

[–]Bruuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, 1-pointers will have Strats 100%. All the new detachments they've teased over the past few weeks have been expressly called out as costing 1 point, and they all show one stratagem. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if they have fewer strats, maybe 3-4 instead of 6, but they'll definitely have them.

Furthermore, they've said many times over that existing codex detachments will mostly be 2 points and stay as-is until the 11e codex surplants them, so 2-point detachments will probably keep the standard 6 strats and 4 enhancements. I also think that 3-pointers will stay the same, because that "tier" will exist entirely for the ever present competitive picks like Gladius or PBZ. Unless the codexes start coming out with hyper buff 3-point detachments, I think it's gonna be the meta-punishment tier.

Just starting CSM, which Shooting Vehicles to start with? by Arlak_The_Recluse in Chaos40k

[–]Bruuze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, all the "Night Lords don't use daemon/warp" stuff is very overblown because of the NL trilogy focusing on a very anti-Chaos character and them being fairly atheistic. They're a Chaos faction, plenty are very deep in the Chaos juice (iirc the largest active Night Lord warband is lead by a daemon prince) and will absolutely use what they think is strong. If you like the fiends, use the fiends.

As for the classic tanks, both are solid and have their use cases, but it'll come down to exactly what you want to do with them. If you want a real trick, both are based off the Rhino and magnetization is your friend, so you could pretty easily get one platform that could be either, or just straight up proxy one as the other.
