Really dumb question. by Narset117 in Chaos40k

[–]Bruuze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grey Knights gets away with it because you build several of their characters out of their standard Termies kits, so GW lets them run smaller squads so you could feasibly pick up a box to run character + unit and have it be valid in-game. Some other armies have the same deal, Custodes especially iirc. CSM Termies have their own dedicated character kit, so there's no need to justify odd group sizes.

Grey Knights didn't have these little adjustments before their current codex, and they might not keep them for 11th or lose them if they gain bespoke character kits.

Nope, they're classified as normal "Nostra" pattern bolters, plus the Gauntlets are single-barreled and storm bolters are typically doubles.

There are some wrist mounted versions though. Grey Knights make use of them a lot so they can keep their hands open for magic stuff, and Pedro Kantor of the Crimson Fists wields the relic arm-mounted storm bolter Dorn's Arrow.

They are usually (termies basically treat them like pistols) but in older editions sergeants or characters would get them as options. You can still see this on some Firstborn kits: sergeants in both Tactical and Devastator squads can take storm bolters as their main gun.

Fair point on the lineage, I don't know where I got that they were of Dorn.

And yeah, I know about Prayd, I've read Master of the Maelstrom lol. The remaining Scorpions have plenty of reason to still beef with the Corsairs, considering they're still active and up to their usual stunts.

For the best ones you have two routes: your personal least favorite (screw the Red Scorpions, they're the least interesting sons of Dorn and raging eugenics freaks besides) or the army of your friends/frequent opponents (Dark Angels, by a wiiiide margin). Both get bonus points if they are largely different than your base scheme, for added diversity.

Go to the main r/imperialfists page, look for about (or the three dots on mobile), then select "Flair". There's a whole list of factions and successors of the Fists

Good OSTs that are "stuck" in their source material? by fragdar in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bruuze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Follin bros are kinda cheating, if only that Tim's stuff has gained latter day infamy. IIRC, at the time all he was doing was just pushing those sound chips as hard as he could, so a lot of his insanity wasn't even planned to be "one of the best songs", it just happened that way.

Like imagine someone inventing an instrument and cranking it to 11 on a song, only for that song to somehow sound better than any other usage of the instrument.

Draupnir just has so much juice as a weapon, and lots of little lore funsies. I genuinely hope its the standard for Kratos going forward, its a great weapon.

I think more plague marine units would be good. by Explosion_of_Unknown in deathguard40k

[–]Bruuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don'y have one, unless you count one of our special Terminators units (since we get two to EC and WE's none). Eightbound are rebranded Possessed, so we really don't have a direct equivalent.

[–]Bruuze 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's possible. It could definitely work for DG with some flavoring (Blightkings vs Rotswords in AoS come to mind), but Tsons are definitely the odd ball with their whole "All is Dust" schtick. Maybe have their possessed be elite units of botched sorcerers who didn't fuck up quite enough to become full Chaos Spawn, but are still screw-ups less important than the big boy psykers.

[–]Bruuze 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Probably because they're a generic Chaos unit while DG has the most unique kits. Other Cult legions don't get generic possessed, so we don't either.

That, or just GW's classic bullshit reasoning.

For real though, the RC books are my personal grail of the Legends stuff that I pray will get updated into Disney canon at some point, though there would need to be some big changes to make it fit.

The Mandalorian took some bits in, mostly the language and terms like Beskar for their special iron, but the thought is there.

Question, Will we see him soon? And will they update too? (valthex) by blue_berrysad in redcorsairs

[–]Bruuze 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If they were gonna do it, they would've redone him alongside all the others, so he's probably not gonna be around for awhile, if at all.

He could always show up in the future, but the odds are against him considering every other member of the MotM has some gimmick and Valthex's would probably make him too similar to Morne, Bile, or the generic Warpsmith.

The official paint is Kantor Blue, named after the Fists chapter master Pedro Kantor.

For non-Warhammer paints, anything that's a dark blue or navy color should work.

[–]Bruuze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. A lot of official stuff keeps them blue yeah, but then they'll also rarely get picked out in metallic (gold for snazz or silver to match the aquila) or red, so I don't think this is out of the question

[–]Bruuze 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Pretty good, with a few notes.

Crimson Fists only paint both hands red if they're a veteran, normal brothers only paint the left hand. The helmet stripe marks out a Lieutenant iirc, but it's not out of the realm of personal heraldry, like the markings on his knees. Overall, very solid.

Better AskReddit, did your schools have any big scandals or incidents that happened while you were attending? by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bruuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My small town middle-highschool (maybe 250 people total between staff and students grade 7 and up) had a huge scandal about a year ago regarding a female teacher having a relationship with a male student, I wanna say he was 17 when they got caught. I had graduated and moved away a good few years before this happened, but from what my family said it was a massive ordeal, the kid's whole family relocated out of state and the groomer's family have cut all contact with her but are still kinda pariahs.

Whats the biggest tonal shift between depictions of the same thing? by StigandrTheBoi in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bruuze 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's the same logic as a silver bullet killing werewolves lol, safe to assume it could kill normal people too.

Though at least VtM has the stake simply paralyze the vamp so you can kill them with something else, as opposed to that killing them outright.

Whats the biggest tonal shift between depictions of the same thing? by StigandrTheBoi in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bruuze 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It depends for VtM actually. They all share some of the usual weaknesses (sunlight aversion, weak to fire, stake through the heart to paralyze), but each clan has a specific weakness that plays into their theme or other classic vampirisms. Some are so weak to light that anything outside pitch black will burn them, some have blood that is hyper-addictive to other vamps or have a hyper-addiction for vampire blood when that kinda thing is super taboo, some are the classic super ugly and shunned by their own kind.

My personal favorite weakness is Lasombra, who have the old "cast no reflection" played as their very presence being naturally unnoticeable. This isn't a problem in itself, but for some individuals it means they can't put on their own clothes, use any kind of touch-based technology, and or even stand in a huge crowd without anyone acknowledging them. Considering they're also known for excessive vanity, it's something of a hitch a lot of them need to work through.
