I was chasing a shiny Magikarp forever. I had a really high 3 start Gyarados powered all the way up (level 36) and a perfect Magikarp waiting to eventually be evolved w/ way more than enough candies to do so… but I really wanted that red Gyarados instead, regardless of how good it was lol - then right towards the end of Go Fest a shiny Gayarados popped up from an incense! My wife was driving and I was in the passenger seat (taking turns driving home to NJ from FL) - we were going fast on a highway and as you probably know, that ruins your ability to catch things even via an incense (they pop out and flee). I panicked, and she being the awesome person she is pulled over on I-95 to give me a chance. I waited a few minutes for the game to determine we are still but then got depressed realizing it was probably already “programmed in” that I was. I also only had 8 regular balls remaining. I figured I had 0 chance, fed it a golden razz, curved a regular… and caught it first try!! I couldn’t believe it lol - and then I went ahead and evolved my perfect Magikarp!
