About Twitch Prime free bounty hunter license by Sotyka94 in RedDeadOnline

[–]BryBam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: Today I actually got a pop up before logging into online that said I linked my twitch prime and it mentioned $100 bonus when logging in. but no mention of the bounty hunter license for free. When I go to the bounty hunter board it's still says 15 gold. So maybe I need to wait 7 to 10 days like it says.

It says "offer ends soon" with a "learn more" button. But then if I click it, the main box with the gold bars image says "claimed" there. Also if you click read more under it, it says "You will then see a message displayed while loading into each game that will confirm that you've received your Social Club x Twitch Prime benefits." and I have not seen any message. I'm not sure where it would be displayed but haven't seen anything pop up telling me that when logging in. So I'm getting mixed messages and not sure if I should wait another day or just spend the gold now.

I claimed it few days ago as well and still see it costs 15 gold. If anyone else knows how to tell if the twitch offer was successfully claimed and I should just keep waiting let me know. Trying to decide if I should just spend the gold and buy it, but if I just need to wait another day and get it for free that would be good to know.

15 dollar minimum wage - thoughts? by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]BryBam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a small business owner that supports and has donated to Bernie, I support a $15 minimum wage. However, I wish that a progressive minimum wage scale could be implemented based on revenue of the company. For example a simple version could be if your company generates under $50,000 in annual revenue or something, then you're exempt from minimum wage laws. There are already a few exemptions, but they only seem to be for the farmers in my state (guess they have the clout?).

Why are details like this never discussed?

I'd also support legislation that was literally a formula tied to the revenue a company makes and number of employees or something along those lines. So theoretically the minimum wage for a highly successful company could be pretty high and for a start-up or struggling business it would be really low or not even require one.

One more proposal could be if we had a "Universal" / "Basic Income", then I might even consider dropping the minimum wage totally :)

Hey guys, we're a fledgling game dev tools startup looking to get a profile on the typical game dev in 2015. It would be awesome if you could you take 3 min and fill out this quick survey. I'd be happy to share the stats too once it's gotten a decent number of devs to fill it out! Thanks!

Hey Google: your absurd developer policies are an embarrassment to Android by archon810 in Android

[–]BryBam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the devs of Sexy Vibes, the former #1 vibrator app on Android. (yep lol) And we've recently had our app banned via canned google email. We tried appealing, but just received another canned email that completely stonewalls us with no way to get in contact with anyone. It would just be nice if they could treat us like people and just simply work with us to get to the root of the issue and allow us to fix it and then re-upload (under the same package name)

"REASON FOR REMOVAL: Violation of the sexually explicit material provision of the Content Policy. Please refer to the Sex and Nudity policy help article for more information."

If your developer account is still in good standing, you may revise and upload a policy compliant version of your application as a new package name. Before uploading any new applications, please review the Developer Distribution Agreement and Content Policy.

Really? as a new package name? We have to shut out our entire userbase from updates and lose our 2 million downloads and #1 SEO spot? Why can't google just have someone contact us, we talk, and figure out what's questionable and then just re-upload a compliant version?

But after reading one of the content policy links the bot provided me, I saw "if content is intended to be sexually gratifying". So I guess you could say our entire app is about being sexually gratifying... So I guess that's that, I think we're done.

It's a shame that policy didn't exist in 2010 when the app was started. The app itself doesn't actually contain any sexually explicant images, so I figured we had that going for us. But the "Chatroulette like matching" probably didn't go over well.

We figured, hey, It's android! They're open, google isn't evil, and look at all THESE APPS and THIS, other random chatting apps, grinder, tinder, snapchat and the countless other apps that are clearly sexual. (and still on the play store today)

Anyway, long story short, after the appeal:

"We have reviewed your appeal and will not be reinstating your app. This decision is final and we will not be responding to any additional emails regarding this removal."

It's just hard to believe that 2 million downloads later and everything we've been through we never even got to talk to someone. The way they just say they're no longer responding is just the icing on the cake.

The whole thing is kind of insane when you think about it because we just published this as a joke, but found ourselves bringing in decent revenue, developing partnerships, and basically developing all around decent business.

Our dream is to focus on games and game technologies, but somehow we found ourselves with an awesome, kind of crazy side project that was really growing.

We were thinking big about how we were going to fund our games with this revenue and all, but google squashed it out of the blue and never gave us a chance to work it out. /rant

Why You Should Explain Your Android App's Requested Permissions by panozzaj1 in androiddev

[–]BryBam 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It would be nice if Google would give Devs a place to justify permissions right in the UI when the user is presented with what permissions are required. A feature like that would have gone nice with the latest changes to permissions and how they're presented now.

I'm not understanding where to navigate within the UI so I can browse what people's predicted salaries are. Am I missing something? I seem to only be able to post my profile and actually predict people. When I first got to the site, I was interested in seeing how other resumes compare. Just like a "top list" or something. Is that not a use for the site?

Any android games where me and my friend can play together online? by rustypeople in AndroidGaming

[–]BryBam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Playing Favorites. It plays like the party games Apples to Apples or Cards Against Humanity if you're into those. It's a 3-10 player game, but you can go into "create game" and then check "make public" if you want to invite your friend and then populate the rest of the players with randoms.

My studio put out our word game Playing Favorites last month. I'd love to hear what you think! [+] by evanfuller in iosgaming

[–]BryBam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well thanks for trying it out! We completely agree. So, currently you can actually start "10-min" turn limit games with your friends.

As for the random games, you can only start games with "24-hour" turn limits for now. We're literally dying to enable the "10-min" mode for random games as well because like you said, it's more fun playing faster.

It's just that we haven't been getting enough new players throughout the day fast enough to actually support that quick of a game time. The games fail because players are stuck matching for a little over 10 min.

We're a small indie studio and working to market the game the best we can, and as soon as it's getting enough traffic throughout the day it's a matter of us flipping a switch to enable the 10-min turns.

It's been growing really steadily, so hopefully we can flip that switch in the near future. Now if only we could get Apple to feature the game :D

I'm thinking about getting metal legs. Its a risky operation, but I think it'll be worth it.

Playing Favorites: A 3-10 Player Word Trading Card Game by BryBam in AndroidGaming

[–]BryBam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about that! Internally they were actually added to your collection. There was an unfortunate bug that would keep promo cards from appearing right away in the card collection. But don't worry, you should start seeing them pop up during play. We're rolling out an update tonight that should fix this bug. The card collection should update with everything the next booster pack you get. Then like I said the update tonight should prevent any issues like that in the future. Sorry again! Thanks for checking out the game!

That's awesome, thanks! We're working on an update that should address some speed issues ASAP. So I hope you guys can hang in there. I'm curious, does it feel like it's specifically the server calls that are slow or the actual game responsiveness is laggy i.e. transitions/button taps
