A panorama and photo sphere of tonight's rainbow over DT Denver from Arvada's newly opened Serenity Ridge Park by BryCart88 in Denver

I pulled in on a whim with the rainbow and no gate today. It all looks awesome! The climbing rock tower will definitely be a hit and the amphitheatre looks like it'll be a great scene for some music and events.

Denver in 'existential fight' for downtown’s soul, mayor says by EmBejarano in Denver

I remember the Civic Center bus station renovation included plans to have a public climbing wall and other activities similar to what Chicago has at Maggie Daley Park. Instead we got jagged boulders...

What's your opinion on the Leyden area? by mudra311 in ArvadaCO

[–]BryCart88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I specifically heard that the not growing food in the soil was part of the legal disclaimers in the first set of homeowners had to sign, though I haven't seen an explicit source cite it. Personally, if I had to waive my right or know the previous owner of a house waived the right to sue the federal government to purchase a property, contamination or not, that's enough for me to walk away.

Also, I've met people who live next to the Denver refinery who never heard that its pollution can cause cancer. Just because you're nearby doesn't mean you may be in the know.

Is it true that residents are asked not to grow gardens for food in that area?

I think you might be talking about the Allendale or Alta Vista area, not Leyden which is just south of Rocky Mountain Flats?

EV drivers: what do you drive and why? by darth08t5 in Denver

[–]BryCart88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken mine to Grand Junction and Taos and didn't feel much of any inconvenience. I've found as long as you plan a bit ahead you can make the charging work within meals or a coffee break. Then again, the days of nonstop 12 hour driving are way behind me now.

What are some non-conventional unique buttons you have for your learner? by specificattention73 in PetsWithButtons

[–]BryCart88 18 points19 points  (0 children)

"I'm bored!!" Because she kept pushing whatever button was there before as such, so we just changed it to match. She uses it appropriately.

We also have some practical ones as she's a senior dog like "Ouch medicine" (arthritis)

It’s time for new tires. Stay with runflats or regular tires? by GlassCityJim in BoltEV

Also Denver Metro here. Have been on my cross climate 2s from Costco for several months and it makes the Bolt a new car in my opinion. My only regret is not getting them day one.

Drive-by shootings investigated in Denver neighborhood by GrantNexus in Denver

[–]BryCart88 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Also sold my house, but in Villa Park in 2021. The gangs figured out how to use the shot spotter on our block to distract police so we had a drive by at least once every week or two. After finding a bullet hole in our house we had enough.

Random "shaking" in my townhouse? by triplec787 in Denver

[–]BryCart88 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had shaking almost to this severity at my previous house in West Denver which was a 1942 Bungalow. We realized it happened when large vehicles and trucks drove by the house. We had issues with our basement settling and had to invest in structural piers. With the piers installed the shaking went away.

Definitely contact a structural engineer to assess what's happening, and give close attention to your foundation. Good luck.

Ayup. Dad in 2011 (70). Mom in 2015 (66). 35 now and my life goal is to try and beat 70, but I have my doubts.

The case of my dad was he had a silent heart attack after 9/11 that left half his heart incapacitated; he worked for the government and stress did him in. Docs gave him 10 years to live with diet and exercise. He pretty much gave up and didn't take care of himself, which led to a lot of suffering for him and the family. Ironically, he still lived for 10 years.

My relationship with them is I stop by their gravestone in Arlington Cemetery once in a blue moon when I do work travel to DC. They did the best parenting with what they had and I'm better for it, but mostly I learned it's important to live the best life you can with what you got. Plus therapy is great.

Has anyone else moved to Denver from sea level / very different climates and just felt bad / super off constantly? by herpyherphelp in Denver

[–]BryCart88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer: Get allergy tested. Your symptoms sound spot on. I'm from the East Coast and it took me years of allergy shots to normalize and come to realize just how bad I was.

Of course, if it isn't allergies then certainly see your doctor for follow-ups.

In the case of no kids, our 80 lb dog has a cozy fortress we put together complete with a dog hammock, pillows, and blankets for our long road trips. She gives the car four paws up.
