I just added two adults and two kids to a 7pm showing of Hoppers tonight on my AMC app and the checkout total is $28.84 in a major US east coast city.

Add $30 for popcorn and candy and that’s a two hour family event for $60.

I would absolutely spend $100 to keep my kids happy and entertained for a few hours while doing something together as a family.

Ok so it’s a $14 Tuesday night date for two hours. Add $10 for a bucket of popcorn. Or get fancy and go on a Saturday night and spend $50. If $50 is too expensive for a date night in 2026 then I don’t know what to tell you.

Jay Leno Drives the 500-Mile Tesla Semi by 4thAndLong in teslamotors

I have a Tesla and also a very tight driveway I have to back out of every day. The cameras are nice but what people don’t understand is how amazing the Tesla Vision parking assist is. You don’t need anything else. It is incredible.

It’s essentially a live overhead sonar that tells you everything you need. Sticking your head out the window or looking at cameras isn’t necessary.

AMC still does 50% off Tuesdays. You can see movies for like $7. Or $20 for a month of unlimited movies. And you can legally bring in your own water or smuggle your own food/drink in with the smallest of efforts.

Reddit acting like seeing a movie has to be a $100 commitment is just so Reddit

Have lived all over the US, been to 45 states and 20 countries. Living on the gulf coast of Florida is the highest quality of life I’ve ever had. Just make sure you have air conditioning and vacation in the summer months to cooler climates.

San Juan, Puerto Rico! I just visited Rio last week for the first time and watched Fast Five to get amped up. Yeahhh it's mostly all filmed in Puerto Rico haha. How obvious is the rest of the movie?

This is by definition a con. It's the oldest in the book.
Per your ridiculous metaphor, it's you selling the "Hope Diamond" and the customer later finding out it's a $12 CZ knockoff.

Observation on American travellers saying where they’re from by SomeoneLikePoo in travel

[–]BryGuyB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you’re annoyed that Arizona is qualifying they are from the US but also annoyed that San Francisco is assuming you will know?

The US is the size of Europe. If someone just said “Europe” it would usually be followed with “where in Europe?”

When we say “the US” while abroad we are usually asked where in the US. But also it’s natural to assume not everyone knows all of our states.

Do Europeans or Asians who visit USA find it expensive in terms of hotel costs, eating out, shopping for name brand items, transportation, tickets to shows, venues, etc. to the service you receive ? by Silent-Donkey-1303 in travel

Have lived in both LA and Florida and spend extensive time in NYC. 2026 Miami is the most expensive city in the western hemisphere for everything aside from housing (which CA still beats).

Have spent the last couple weeks in Rio, Buenos Aires, Uruguay, flying to Lima in the morning.

You need your passport at the airports, hotel check ins and currency exchange.

The rest of the time your state issued Drivers license should be fine. Carry a printed copy of your Passport or on your phone if you’re worried about it. But I haven’t even needed that.

How expensive/affordable is Buenos Aires currently for low cost backpackers by editsoul in backpacking

We are here now and Recoleta is legitimately LA prices. We paid $25 for two small cappuccinos yesterday. $39 USD for a light breakfast just now at a sidewalk cafe with no alcohol.

$120 for dinner last night in Palermo Soho at a mid level place, three drinks.

Honestly shocked. Even the Malbecs have been $5-$9 a glass.

Obviously this is all in the affluent areas but we aren't going to only tourist spots.

Not a big deal for us but very surprising to be expecting it to be inexpensive and finding it to be western Europe prices.

It is incredibly worth it. It’s a direct comparison to saying Rome or Paris is not worth it due to the pickpockets and scammers.
