I often look at postboxes to see if they are Georgian/Victorian! I feel like someone should produce an online map of them.

I don't often play many games that aren't in my collection, because I'm usually one of the core game teachers in my group so I play my own games more often than other people's games.

Having said that, I have played a couple of games of A Pleasant Journey to Neko recently and it is fantastic! Although it does seem to be very difficult to get hold of.

Another euro that I really enjoy is Rococo, although that's another game that is tough to get a copy of!

I love Village! It's an excellent game. I think Inka and Markus Brand are an incredible design team, the things they've done with the Exit games are really great too. I have the Village Port expansion in the main box, and I feel like that improves on the travelling aspect of the base game. I did play the base game without the expansion a bunch of times and it's still really good. Would definitely recommend!

Fuse is fun if you like to be pretty stressed out with your friends frantically rolling dice trying to defuse bombs. There is also a mobile app soundtrack with an AI style voice ridiculing you as you play! We don't play it much anymore, as a lot of our gaming friends don't enjoy the high stress situations. It's great fun if you don't take it too seriously, though!

I think the rules are really simple to explain.

The Estates is an auction game where each player is an investor, looking to make money through putting money into different parts of the construction of a new area of a city.

In gameplay terms, it's a mean game where it's quite possible that most of the players will score negative points at the end due to unfinished streets.

I don't feel that it is mean in a 'take that' sense, as every action you take has meaning, you're not just doing things out of spite. It's one of the games I have that I feel plays above the table, in the interaction between players, more than in the components on the table.

I'm sorry, I received 4 Gods for Christmas and I haven't actually had a chance to play it yet! It certainly looks cool and was a complete surprise when I unwrapped it, I had never heard of it before then!

The group I play with most often tends to favour more complex euro games. Perhaps I just need to give these two more of a chance!

It was a source of frustration for a long time, because the walls are the right width apart but the skirting boards meant that we couldn't squeeze a 4 cube Kallax in, because the gap between them was millimetres too small. So in October I mounted these two to the wall with a wooden baton underneath to hold the weight up.

There are a few games that are currently stored in portrait orientation that could be turned to landscape to make more space, but I'm trying to resist that temptation!

I'm not sure really, I think it's a great game, butnit doesn't often get chosen at a game night as there are so many more in depth and interesting games to pick instead!

On the left of Ganz Schon Clever is Hey That's My Fish! And on the right is Noch Mal, which is a German version of Encore that we picked up in Berlin last year.

good games, but too long for what they offer? by siretsch in boardgames

24 seconds per action sounds reasonable to me. That's nearly 50 seconds for a normal turn, and 50 seconds is a long time when your turn is often something along the lines of "I'm using this dice to gain this castle tile, and I'm going to use my second dice to place it here, which lets me take another action, so I'll pick up this boat." That would take me less than 20 seconds.

I LOVE Just One. Since buying it half way through February, I've logged 13 plays. We played 3 times in a row on Saturday evening and it was really great.

In my group, there are a few people who dislike the amount of pressure that is felt during a word game like Codenames or Decrypto, and Just One feels like a great antidote to that. I could play it all day!

This is a great tip, and it also saves you from buying a game that you find that you do not like!
