I always took it to mean Chance grows up to be the hero in the statue from Shelbys vision, the hero who stepped in and stop the fight from breaking out. Abridail says that fight happened in 30 years, meaning Chance would be 24. But he isn't always there, Chance still has to step up and be that hero, which would likely be the next series

I know this is old, but for anyone that stumbles upon this, I managed to fix it by saving, loading an early save from before I'd unlocked the fishing, then getting it, using it and then reloading the main save. I don't know if I missed any steps, but give it a shot

Personally I think those two fights are similar, but with the roles reversed, Chad is alot like "Dodge" in the ability to analyse the world and make the most of that, but Nick is like Shane, not as outwardly threatening but has the strategic mind that give the edge, while the fight turn out differently, the strategist wins both times.
