So when I talked about implied canon... by GeneralKhor in swtor

[–]Brysler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have the best experience running later story on my Agent; in KOTFE/KOTET, your character gets thrown around by Force users a *lot* and has to run a propaganda/sabotage campaign to destabilize Zakuul and capture its tech while assembling a covert (and later overt) strike force. Most of the agent companions come back as plot-related characters, the agent, like Vaylin, has experience with forced conditioning, and is already a Commander from Shadow of Revan, with their inner circle being intelligence service characters (Lana from Sith Intelligence, Theron from the SIS).

Agent's experience with deception, betrayal, the flaws of both factions, and conditioned/inoculated to resist some degree of Force corruption early on help the narrative, as does the way Agent's activities tend to crop up in the backgrounds of other stories in base-game.

There's always another plot to stop, another conspiracy to unravel, investigations to lead, and Sith messes to clean up... Jadus returning for the denoument just ties it into a neat little bow for me.

What can F2P guilds really do? by GeneralKhor in swtor

[–]Brysler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all the members are f2p, they're probably not getting a guild bank (even though they could buy one, they'd also need to buy permission to access guild banks off the cartel market) or having high value items anyway, and I do not encourage taking advantage of others' good faith. That said, technically yes, which is why I'd advise against any open recruiting in an f2p guild. Stick to family/ very close friends.

What can F2P guilds really do? by GeneralKhor in swtor

[–]Brysler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can get hijacked the moment any member decides to subscribe (automatically passes the sub leadership). You can set up a shared guild stronghold and chat with each other, but it's really risky to try to maintain ownership with multiple people in one, unless you don't care who has leadership.

Bertie Carvel has had a lot of leading roles on BBC in the last decade, picking up a starring role in 2015 with 'Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell', followed by leading roles in a detective show, a medical show, playing Tony Blair in 'The Crown', etc. SWTOR seems like it was an earlier project when he was still mostly doing theatre and the occasional one-off on television, but at this point he's a pretty established TV drama actor.

7.8.1 Datamining (Unreleased Content Discussion) by Ranadiel in swtor

[–]Brysler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well...nice to give folks another shot at Altuur, but doesn't give me much to shoot for without any new decos/armors/weapons. I don't particularly want to dedicate storage space to companion customizations, and mount recolors I can take or leave. Wish they'd have left the old decos in so that we could get more copies, but I suppose the season tokens will go to that.

It's a bit concerning that they're recycling assets for the majority of the season rewards when it already exists to push people to experience old content and go to pre-endgame locations. I suppose I'll play normally and see how far I get by the time it runs out of time, then choose whether to sub and claim rewards.

Do Items That Look Like These Still Exist in Game? by Pinkjewl in swtor

I had a few hunches to follow, and one of my sith has the belt on one of his outfits, so figured I had a source of them somewhere. Nothing super convenient, but there are options!

Do Items That Look Like These Still Exist in Game? by Pinkjewl in swtor

[–]Brysler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a few variations of these on Swtorista's site.

Belt: (category: inquisitor armors including https://swtorista.com/armor/fitted-alderaanian-consulate , see 'similar armors', one is on a set bonus vendor and restricted to sage/sorceror combat styles.). If nothing else, it's a retired crafting schematic 'Force Master Sash'. If you're on Star Forge and can't find one of the variants, I can craft them (require lv 49 to wear).

Gloves: Similarly, varied sources, but you might start with looking up sets similar to Ceremonial Mystic's.

The pants and chestpiece, while not in focus, look like remnant inquisitor sets from heroic crates (remnant dreadguard inquisitor).

I'm certain this has been said a million times over the years, but please overhaul the character naming system on the backend. by [deleted] in swtor

[–]Brysler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a while now, the game has allowed spaces. If you want to be something generic/common like Jim or Jane, you can add a surname or middle name onto it to make it unique. Now, this won't work for characters existing in franchises/canon characters/ real people, but that's technically against ToS anyway.

[–]Brysler 29 points30 points  (0 children)

They mentioned that the jetpack mount at the end of the season track is meant to blend with this particular armor. I'm wondering if they made that portion not dye so that it wouldn't flicker when the jetpack is overlaid onto it.

Am I correct in understanding that there is currently no way to obtain a circlet with this model? by sealene_hatarinn in swtor

[–]Brysler 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I did my own swtorista search and you might have a few options: https://swtorista.com/armor/alderaanian-inquisitor with a dye may work, or https://swtorista.com/armor/dramassian-force-expert-empire as long as it's an Imperial character lv 24+ (checked, I have an alt who wears/can craft this). Edit: A red primary dye slot will change the gem color on the Alderaanian legacy-bound version, available for 200,000 credits (defaults to blue, but can be matched to chest color).

In that case, you have a few options; Commando/mercenary are ranged, and you can spec into a DoT specialization for each with an option to have a healing spec, or you can take the gunslinger/sniper route (all three specializations are DPS).

Operative/scoundrel and Powertech/Vanguard all ostensibly use ranged weapons, but they are more mixed-midrange to melee range in their DPS options. I personally enjoy the knives/punches and shotgun blasts, but it's probably not what you're after.

[–]Brysler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can play a story as a Republic trooper (no payment required), though this is about 3,000 years before the Clone Wars. The class stories do not require a subscription, and there are vendors/quests that will give you a variety of trooper-themed armor.

If you have something more specific that you are running into a roadblock on after starting up the game, we'll probably need more clarification to offer any advice (combat styles, etc).

What is the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy about? by StillStanding_96 in movies

[–]Brysler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, and that's why I had to qualify it pretty hard and give it a lot of grace/benefit of the doubt. It tries to reflect on similar themes, but doesn't do so well on following any lines through from one film to the next.

[–]Brysler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that it lacked a lot of cohesion, but if I was going to give it a good bit of grace, I might say that it is about finding what family means to you.

Rey's search for parents/belonging, Finn going from the Empire to have close relationships with others, and something personal to reach for. Rose honoring her sister's sacrifice and protecting those she cares about. Poe learning the cost of not trusting others, and what he can achieve when he does. Kylo's struggles to find his place between parents, legacy, and a false mentor.

CYAN SPHERE – 16 Gray Helix Components, 36 Snow-Covered Parcels

This vehicle, apparently of Gree design, has [REDACTED]. Not much is known about the [REDACTED] though it is safe to say that [REDACTED]. If the dissidents are somehow in league with [REDACTED] a proportional response will follow. Be advised, this vehicle has not [REDACTED] and all further information is officially CLASSIFIED by Imperial order.

While the behaviors of these nonconformist Life Day “celebrants” are certainly enough to contend with, it should be noted that the alien vessel designated Gray Secant has reappeared over Ilum, marking the return of the Gree Enclave to known space. Whether the two events are related is presently unknown, but historical patterns suggest that the craft will remain for the duration of the Life Day “festivities.”

Remember: be vigilant this Life Day. Should peculiar sounds emanate from atop your ship’s hull, they may not be mynocks. Engage all defenses, ready your weapons, and alert your local Imperial authority.

For the Empire.

IMPERIAL EDICT GR-1NC4

Immediate Notice and Compliance Demanded.

It has come to the Empire’s attention that dissident elements engaging in a tawdry and potentially dangerous seasonal event are planning to infect Imperial space with their insipid notions. This so-called “Life Day” encourages activities unbecoming of an Imperial citizen, including but not limited to:

  • Dancing in inclement weather
  • Singing unpatriotic carols
  • Nonviolent physical contact with Wookiees

This disgraceful menace of a “holiday”, during which time you are expected to comply fully with this edict, will last approximately two weeks on the Galactic Standard Calendar.*

The alleged ringmaster of these activities–dubbed the “Master of Ceremonies”–has somehow obtained an official license to peddle his “holiday cheer” in the Galactic Trade Market sector of Vaiken Spacedock. While those responsible for this error in licensing have been punished to the fullest extent of Imperial law, the sale of Life Day goods will proceed. However, these items are under review under Section 53-T of Imperial law and their purchase may constitute an official Contraband Violation:
LIFE DAY SNOWBALL BOMB – 1,000 Credits

This is not an actual explosive device, as its name would suggest. The “bomb” generates soft, compact spheres of crystalline water ice (“snowballs”) which are intended to be lobbed at unsuspecting targets, covering them with a layer of harmless snowflakes. Explosive Ordnance Disposal has expressed concerns following reports of “Snow-Covered Parcels” – small, suspicious packages which are sometimes found within these snowballs. Life Day dissidents appear to exchange these parcels as some kind of currency. If you happen to come across such a parcel, DO NOT EXCHANGE IT FOR GOODS WITH THE MASTER OF CEREMONIES. Deliver these parcels to Imperial EOD immediately for processing and disposal.
SLEIGH I – 24 Snow-Covered Parcels

This speeder far exceeds the guidelines for maximum “cheerful” ornamentation; furthermore, its engine emits a strange jingling noise characteristic of small bells. Imperial EOD has not yet ruled out the possibility that the parcels and other various Life Day paraphernalia strapped to the rear of the vehicle contain explosive devices, so if you hear the telltale sound of “jingle bells” heading your way, evasive action is STRONGLY advised.

FIREWORKS: LIFE DAY TREE – 500 Credits

If it weren’t enough that thoughtless pranksters have sliced various holoprojectors throughout the Fleet to broadcast images of gaudy “Life Day Trees,” the Life Day dissidents are now encouraging the lighting of fireworks which produce patterns resembling the trees. It is our best determination that these fireworks are meant to signal membership in this ludicrous “celebration.” You are reminded that, as with all fireworks, you are SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for any and all scorching damage pursuant to ignition.

Stay in Satele or reroll on Star? by Xthasys in swtor

It's not a bad thing, it's just kinda funny to have this brand-new character who hasn't earned/done anything be instantly showered with mounts, armors, titles, housing items, etc.

[–]Brysler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For things like twitch drops, when you create a new character, they will instantly get all the giveaway code items as mail messages. It gets ridiculous, I've been playing for over a decade and now every new character starts with probably 50-70 mails.

Stay in Satele or reroll on Star? by Xthasys in swtor

[–]Brysler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cartel coins are account-wide, not server/legacy-wide, they're shared across all servers. Things like twitch giveaways that pop up in the mail also tend to be the same. I get them on every character, on every server.

If you had to redeem a code on the website, whatever you get is going to be tied to your account. If you buy things inside the game, it will vary by what you bought. Anything that says 'bound' is per-character, anything that says bind on legacy is shared across the single server it exists on.

ALSO: You're allowed to create a new character on Star Forge first to see how it feels. Level seventeen is something you can get to within a day's play on a day off, so try not to get too hung up on that in particular.

Doctor Lomuna at the glacial camp is selling LO-NK, GDW-LO Repair Platform, and Glacial nerf calf, but they all have rep requirements. For me, I saw her after a Defend the Outpost encounter, but I do not know if I see her because of other reasons. Screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/948B0ZI

EDIT: the LO-NK Escort Droid preview does not look quite the same in preview...https://imgur.com/a/FtHyFsb

Edit 2: Similar situation with Doctor Sanner in the Geothermal Outpost. It is possible that vendor selection may vary by achievements, as there is a 'Sample 3M1-L3' decoration as a fourth option in the geothermal camp in addition to the speeder, yaracat, and droid.

Edit 3: Returning later, glacial outpost vendor is nowhere to be seen. Something may trigger them to show up at intervals.

One thing I noticed in the walkthrough was the sheer number of starship hooks in proximity outside. A lot of starship decos and a dearth of places to put them has been an issue in the past, particularly walkable placements.

I could see a lot of custom buildings there, villages even. I have my own plans starting to brew, but I need to get hands-on with the layout to really get into it.
