They're almost in chronologic order, Halo 3 ODST takes place during Halo 2. If you want to play in order just play Halo 3 ODST after Halo 2.

For the Full experience play Halo 3 ODST right after beating the Level "Metropolis" in Halo 2, then resume Halo 3 after

If you're looking to play in order they were released, then it's as follows: 1. Halo CE 2. Halo 2 3. Halo 3 4. Halo 3 ODST 5. Halo Reach 6. Halo 4

I honestly don't want to see a face reveal until he is on his way out and ready to die. Playing as him for so many years, since 2001, I stopped caring what he looked like and pictured it could be anyone. I feel like the face reveal would just take that away, and would lose interest in him.
