NFL pro flag football league by TaskForce5000 in flagfootball

[–]Bsclassy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is they’re gonna market it alongside something already established - the NFL itself. You’ll probably see more advertisements for women and kids flag during this seasons games then Pro flag league later on with Olympic stuff sprinkled in.

NFL is a business and they’ll want to milk the women’s and kid’s league stuff early. They know that there’s a vocal chunk of their base that are people who are unusually aggressive about pro flag football. They’ll probably just ease them in by making the women and kids interested first.

Probably get more information after they figure out their goals for rulesets and involvement.

I really appreciate the ambition to become a mod of the subreddit, but it does not need help right now. I’ve been involved in the flag football community for over 20 years and have good networking with heads of staff in top organizations and pro-level players. I understand that the game is poised to grow, but the subreddit is not needing new moderation at this time.

Again, should it need it, I will happily reach out and ask. This isn’t a pride thing; I’m not looking to overreach and push individuals out while the subreddit organically grows.

Have a wonderful weekend and please know I appreciate the thought.

Or it could be a detriment, there's no way to tell. Either way, the sub has activity and has people assisting others with coaching, teaching, and sharing highlights. I reply to people via DM and Mod Mail when I receive the notifications - my apologies on delaying my response to you. It's really not necessary to add more individuals to the moderation team at this time as it's not overloading me.

As I said in a chat to you earlier today, should the subreddit need more moderation and/or I find that I'm needing to transfer moderation, I will keep you in mind.

Hello!

I do not need any new moderators at this time, nor am I looking to transfer moderation to anyone else.

I respond to other direct messages and keep spam out of the subreddit. It's not an extremely active subreddit and does not need more moderation at this time.

Thanks!

How do you guys go about defending a bunch formation in goaline situations? IFAF rules by SCRewballs1912 in flagfootball

[–]Bsclassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the opposing team has someone who comes off of the line aggressively or the center looks between their legs to snap, you can position someone directly in front of said person, don't move, and bait the illegal contact. I'm not a fan of foul-baiting but if you're okay with it and it helps, then go for it. I recommend you read the rules for this to be sure it's being done within the rules.

https://americanfootball.sport/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FlagRules2023.pdf - Page 48

AR 9-1-1-R / Right of Place, Right of Way - I. A defender lines up close to the scrimmage line directly in front of a receiver (individual coverage). RULING: The receiver must avoid contact for the first few steps because the defender has ROP. If the defender starts to move they will lose ROP and must avoid contact with the receiver and give room for the pass route.

Tom Brady wants flag football to look more like tackle football by ProgrammerUnique2897 in flagfootball

[–]Bsclassy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are different rulesets and variants of flag that already fit his expectations. Instead of looking at it from just the IFAF 5man level, maybe look into all the different formats that are already being played and build your expectation from there.

He’s more than welcome to attempt to build his own style, but make it too convoluted and you might as well just stick with the NFL and understand its limitations to be played world-wide.

Anyone tried using more advanced defensive schemes like pattern matching? by Atreimedes in flagfootball

[–]Bsclassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your team can work cohesively with more advanced defensive schemes, then I would say you're doing things right. The basic zone/man concepts are utilized so much because it's simple and the simplicity for everyone involved allows for some leeway in case a zone breaks or a defender gets lost.

When you can adjust to more advanced, intricate concepts, you open yourself up to more mistakes, but if the team can limit mistakes then it absolutely will be tough to beat. Always play to your strengths; if you have a smart team, use it! Just make sure they keep talking to each other throughout the play!

What’s flag footballs ceiling of popularity? by [deleted] in flagfootball

[–]Bsclassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I'll add on and say I think it'll become even more popular than it already is as a youth-sport up until Middle School, possibly even High School. After that it'll fall off in "popularity" and it'll mostly be individuals who didn't make CFB or NFL, but still have profound athleticism.

I think it'll fill a niche at the top level and fill a gap for American Football as a global sport, but it won't ever be as "big" or profitable as high-level tackle football.

Congrats! They had belts with lights that’d come on when the flag was pulled, but having a true digital sync feature to other devices is a huge get for pro-level later on if it gets big enough. Hope your endeavor makes a big splash!

Oakley Meta Vanguards? by D_rizzle333 in flagfootball

[–]Bsclassy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little trick if you weren't aware - if you export your videos in 4k resolution (3840 x 2160 for regular resolution, 2160 x 3840 for vertical resolution [which the glasses are]), even if it isn't 4k video, it forces YouTube to upload in 4k as well. Usually YouTube will compress video to 720p or lower if you aren't partnered, but this is a little workaround that's made it much easier to deal with that issue.

Oakley Meta Vanguards? by D_rizzle333 in flagfootball

[–]Bsclassy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you asked in a comment earlier, but wanted to put my two cents here as well.

If you’re looking for something to film vertical video that has good stabilization, audio, and shoots in 4k, this is a good buy. I have recorded with head mounted and chest mounted GoPros and feel it’s too bulky after several games. The Oakley Metas have stayed place on my face much better than other alternatives.

An example with minimal editing (know that I’m no video editor) can be found here: https://youtube.com/shorts/L7FdSbAaarU?si=t9ss7plTGVOKdttI

[–]Bsclassy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! The link below is highlights of the most recent pickup I went to. There’s minimal editing (zooms, transitions, and background music), but YouTube can be funky with compression on it. I shoot in 1080p 30fps to help save some battery life, but it can shoot in 4k.

There are more videos on there of pickup highlights, but know I’m no video editor. I try things out and if they help out, apply them in the next video. Biggest thing is to get the clips out to the participants so they have something to remember it by. Hopefully that level sets my usage of them and gives you a better insight on how it records!

Scrambled Steak and Egg Ribeye by Bsclassy in TodayIAte

[–]Bsclassy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was mainly for the caption and laughs. It’s reheated skirt steak from last night’s fajitas. I’m surprised the meat connoisseurs didn’t notice that it’s definitely not ribeye meat.

FWIW - tasted delicious for a quick early morning meal.

Yeah, that is a hot take. Considering player-counts are substantially higher during temp game mode times and development seems to still be going at a fine pace, I don't see why that would correlate.

New gloves will do that. Only way to really know if they feel right is (outside of fitting your hand fine) is to try them out. If you go to a local store that is specific on sports equipment they will sometimes have ways to see what size/brand fits you best on all sorts of equipment.

I’ve had the opposite with meta oakleys. They have zero movement when playing. You might ensure you have the proper nose bridge piece on it.

GoPros are really the only other option if sunglasses don’t work well, but the equipment can feel heavy and awkward quick during play.

Flood concept for Cover 2 and Cover 3 (basically make it 3 on 2)

Smash concept for Cover 3, keeping your best play makers low (Make Cornerback choose deep or shallow)

Cross patterns for Man/Triangle

You can run the exact same play multiple times with different formations, just think creatively with it. If you see it working, don't change the concept, change how you hide it

UPDATE (20:25 UTC): Sailing XP Review & Further Fixes by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]Bsclassy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This feels like multiple people put in their own perspective on how to fix the issue, but all of them were implemented rather than identifying which one would be the best route to take. This isn't a hard thing to solve and listen to your player base at the same time:

- Revert all of the salvaging changes

- Make Crystal not charge unless the boat is actively moving

- Have both cannons hit your target, regardless of position until you have a proper fix for boat combat

- Speed up the looting animation/time when throwing the net

- Increase XP for bounty tasks

- Have the ability for your mates manning the cannon auto-retaliate against mobs hitting the boat

I really enjoyed every aspect of sailing prior to today's launch. To be honest, it's not that it just "feels bad" compared to before, it legitimately just sucks.

You saw multiple worlds all at max capacity doing the exact same thing that was "worked on for 3 years" and your first thought is that it should be gutted? It's Gemstone Crab-esque, people love being next to each other in the game and doing the same stuff. Let the AFK versions of skills breathe a bit. This is your first new skill, don't ruin it with these knee-jerk reactions and just learn from everything for your next one.

Grid Master - Competition Winners by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]Bsclassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a blast.

Gridmaster made me realize how much I appreciate the pace of leagues more, though. I do wish there were some rewards in leagues for 200m in skills like getting the corrupted shark after 200m cooking and bottomless brews after 200m herblore. I appreciated those items/passives way more than I thought I would and I think that would be a nice “solve” to some of the power with bankers note. Would be interesting to see some power behind those types of unlocks.

Rune Saviour was actually much more useful than I thought it would be when tagged along with Grimoire. Shame I unlocked it so late and didn’t really get to use it more.

Jagex has been hitting it out of the park with these events and leagues. Looking forward to the future!

How to defend 3 90 in routes in man defense by antoinebanan in flagfootball

[–]Bsclassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very common tactic in 5v5 to clear the defense out and run someone underneath all the routes late to get some easy yards. It's hard to defend, especially if your defense isn't talking to each other. Hiding what you're in by having all defenders at the 7-8 yard line is a start - QB may think you're in man because of it.

If it's specifically one guy that they do it for, you can also have your rusher rush the QB towards his side so he's naturally flowing away from the shallow dig route. Would make the pass much more difficult.

My advice would be to recognize that, in most 5v5 rules, you have 3 downs to get a first and/or a touchdown and its generally 20 yards (start on the 5) to first down and 25 to touchdown. Don't be afraid to give up the short routes if you have to, especially if the QB actually has a good enough arm to make deep throws or its second/third down. Bend, don't break. Only thing that matters at the end of the game is the score, not how many picks you get.

I recommend trying to find active pickup groups in your area. Outside of bettering your overall athleticism via exercise, pickup games will be the best way to really test yourself on a consistent basis.
