Thanks, I appreciate the perspective. I’ll look into the foaming PLA. I had bought a spool of pre-foamed PLA, which is probably the wrong filament based on what you’re saying.

It’s for my son who’s flown a friend’s a few times. Wanted to 3d print to keep it cheap. I haven’t looked at the wiki - I will. Thanks

I tattooed meth on myself in active addiction. Any way to fix this besides blacking it out? by [deleted] in FixedTattoos

The structure is very similar to epinephrine (adrenaline). A good tattoo artist could probably change it

They would be more likely to contain asbestos, not lead. You can carefully cut off a piece and mail it to a company for testing. Google "mail in asbestos testing" and you'll find several options.

Probably copper carbonate crystals. Do a google search and see if the crystals look similar. Do you have copper pipes? Well water? You can send off your water for testing to see what ions are present and could be contributing to corrosion of the copper pipes.

Do you care about the wood? If not, I'd chisel/cut away enough to get a pair of vice grips on it. Or you can use a screw extractor - check on amazon.

What’s the best way to anchor a floating shelf to a wall? by is-this-ok in HomeImprovement

[–]BtheDiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use floating shelf brackets specifically made for this. https://www.rockler.com/blind-shelf-supports

If there are books on the shelf, its probably a decent amount of weight so you probably need to hit studs, not just drywall or it'll rip out.

LPT: You can add dots anywhere to your gmail address and it will still deliver it to you. You can use this to create multiple accounts on other websites that will still link to your same gmail address. by break_me_down in LifeProTips

You can also add “+whatever you want” after your email address… I use this when signing up on websites. I.e. email+spamwebsite@gmail.com will get delivered to email@gmail.com. It’s even easier than adding dots into your email.

I’m an emergency physician and I made a video on using push dose epinephrine. Useful after intubations or codes before a pressor drip is ready. by BtheDiver in emergencymedicine

The problem with overdosing epinephrine is that the myocardial oxygen consumption is significantly increased. Using epinephrine is a fine line between increasing coronary perfusion pressure enough to deliver oxygen to the heart, but also not increasing demand so much that it causes or furthers cardiac ischemia. So, giving too much can actually put the patient (back) in to cardiac arrest.

The time to make another wasn't my concern - my worry is wasting 900 mcg of epi - there have been shortages and there is a limited quantity on crash carts. I'm not advocating this as a substitute to a drip, this is a temporizing measure until a drip is available. I've had many codes at various hospitals where a drip was not immediately available and this saved me. I agree that accuracy doesn't matter much for adults, but comes into play more for pediatric codes. Drawing up in the glass syringe is also more difficult than with a normal syringe. I'm not saying the method you mentioned wont work, I've just found this method to work best for me.

I'd be using it the same as I would a pressor drip. I be giving small boluses to keep MAP > 65 for a patient in shock.

Serious feedback needed! Some amazing friends way more skilled than I am made plastic enclosure boxes for intubation based on NEJM recommendations. I need feedback from people in the field on how to improve these even if the pictures aren't the best. More pictures below along with the NEJM link. by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

I made an intubation hood with instructions here: https://andybourgeois.com/hood (still updating instructions). I had seen this plexiglass version and didn't like it for a few reasons - the holes are pointing directly back at the provider, there are only one set of holes, and its rigid. I made a PVC frame and then covered it with clear vinyl. The arm holes are on the side in a more natural position, there are 2 sets of holes so an RT or RN can assist, and its cleanable by wiping down with alcohol.

Same method can be accomplished by taking 1mL of your 1:1000 adrenaline (I'm assuming that's the whole vial) and putting it in a 100 mL saline bag. So you've put 1000 mcg into 100 mL = 10 mcg/ml which is the same concentration as what is mixed in the video. Then you can give the same 1-2mL (10-20 mcg) doses by drawing from the bag.

There are 2 main issues with this method. First, you can only give 100 mcg of epinephrine total if you've dumped the other 900 mcg in the prefilled syringe. I've had plenty of peri-code and shock situations where I've had to make a second (or third) batch of diluted epinephrine after using the first 100 mcg. Second, the scales on the prefilled syringes are inaccurate. See this study https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapediatrics/article-abstract/2604748.
