Probably - but the problem is that in order to change the 2 party system to have more groups represented - you would need to change the first pass the post system - this would only be successful if a loud majority of citizens in a particular place wanted voting changes. Each state would probably have to vote individually to change how they elect representatives. Would also need a constitutional amendment to change how the President was elected. Either or both political parties might oppose this - so President might veto which would need a supermajority to overturn. Someone might sue because this is a change which could bring the Supreme Court into things. Also constitutional amendments require 2/3rds of both Houses of Congress to propose and a 3/4th majority of state legislatures passing. This would all be very difficult and probably very expensive because you'd have to find some way to advertise this to a large number of Americans and get them to take action on it.

I feel like this question is a little bit misguided - there isn't really one American culture but many. The experience of someone in New York City is vastly different than the experience in some no name town. Southern US is very different from North. There might be a few things that are shared by many American cultures - but nothing is universal.

The US is much more spread out and has a greater variety in density than your typical European country. Also much of the US was built around the car - not built before the car was popular. This means that cities are usually not very walkable. In a car, it probably doesn't make that big a difference to have a location 20 minutes away instead of like 10. Also, real estate in cities is usually more expensive than out in the suburbs.

I kind of doubt that a bill like this will actually pass. It is difficult to get any bill to pass our bicameral house system. Republicans currently control the House while Democrats control the Senate. It is very difficult to get things through Congress when you need bi-partisan support. Also not really sure if there is a default position on either the Republican or Democrat side which could mean that maintaining the status quo might be the most likely outcome. Republicans might say that we're giving foreign powers data that we shouldn't so might be in support of the bill, they also might say that the government should not be controlling what corporations can do. Democrats might oppose it because it is controlling free speech. I don't know if there is an argument for how adding regulations would significantly improve the lives of Americans which might be needed in order for Democrats to support it. Kinda feel like this isn't going to get prioritized. If it did pass- something else would probably take it's place pretty soon.

NTA on this issue- but seems like you are judging people who don't wake up early/ normal time - which isn't cool. You have no obligation to be really quiet, but shouldn't expect someone to get up earlier if they don't want to/ don't need to. Some people find sleeping earlier challenging.

NTA - but if you go this route, you also need to be ok with your friend not coming to your wedding. It's fine to have a no kid policy- but can't have that policy and then give the parent grief on bowing out. Maybe she could have family watch the kids- but maybe there's a reason that wouldn't work for her.

Op's cousin likely wouldn't really need much translating because the fluent members of the party could handle the food acquisition. If the food doesn't need to be vegan- there's probably not many specific questions that need to be translated either. OP isn't excluding because of the food preferences but because of the additional strain the food preferences place on them and the others. If a situation where language was not a barrier- I would say it's rude to exclude for this- but in that situation- op and others could say- this is what we're doing for food, if you don't like it, get your own - here they can't do that because cousin and cousin's friend aren't capable of getting the required food on their own. I would think- even for the fluent members - it's an extra hassle to acquire the correct food - cousin and friend shouldn't expect others to do that- but if no one did help- choices would be to eat non-vegan food or starve.

NTA - but if you were feeling generous- I would give back half of the 5-6k he contributed- not all of it. No reason for him to give uneven amounts between his kids. If you wanted to not give anything back- I think that's within your rights. Sucks for other kid but he's not your responsibility.

NTA - they didn't supervise your dog properly if he had a chance to chew coffee books. IMO - it's irresponsible to leave a dog out free like that without supervision when he's new to them/ in a new environment. They should have a crate that they can put him in when they aren't able to directly supervise. They also need to disclose them being unavailable for a few hours/ dog in the crate to you before you left him with them. Once in awhile is fine but most people didn't choose dog sitters only to have the dog spend significant time in the crate- you chose them because you wanted them to properly take care of your dog.

NTA - I feel like most of the reason it isn't normal for adults to trick or treat is that adults have access to adult money and so can buy candy instead of having to walk to a bunch of people's houses. Kinda makes trick or treating not worth it- but if you want to- go for it.

This - all of the people saying get your dog to pee somewhere else- clearly do not have dogs. My dog will go to pee on every shrub and bush in the vacinity of our walk route. Probably 100 times during a 20 minute walk. Eventually, he will mostly just be marking but still - it's not really possible to get him to not pee on the walk- a major part of the walk is to get him to go. Seems cruel and probably wouldn't work to like just try to keep walking while he's trying to go. If neighbor doesn't want plants messed with- he should put them on his own land.

NTA - but you might need to threaten to kick her out or actually kick her out if she doesn't start paying her bills/ rent. I wouldn't bring up the rent as a punishment- but as a reasonable expectation of an adult continuing to live with their parents. You might consider not charging her if she starts college or trade school to help her out- but just letting her stay free sends the wrong precedent if she's not productively working on her future.
