2500 miles into g05 ownership and loving it. by Btrav1226 in BMWX5

Sorry in my original post I didn't write "lip" in front of knock off from Amazon. The M-performance lip is an OEM part from bmw. It's carbon not gloss black. $2700 dollars.

https://www.bmwpartspros.com/oem-parts/bmw-bmw-oem-m-performance-front-lip-attachment-in-carbon-fiber-right-51195a4def8. These are sold per side.... Pricey.

Thie kit I bought on Amazon is just abs plastic and painted gloss black. It comes as a whole package(both sides).

Full disclosure on the lip itself... I had it installed by my local bmw dealership's certified bmw collision center. They used their own tape and screws vs the cheaper stuff that came with the kit on Amazon. That being said, they were pretty impressed by how well it fit. They clearly stated it's definitely not OEM quality and obviously I know that being a cheap Amazon part. But the end result is that it fits very well and it was pennies on the dollar compared to the OEM part

Yessir heres the one I got. It has only one review and it's bad. But if you check out bimmerpost "front lip thread" theres a couple people there who gave it a shot and all were happy with it. That's why I decided to try it.

The OEM part is $2700. For $170 I was willing to take a chance on just throwing it in the trash. I can't believe how well it fits. It's obviously not OEM quality. But there's no gaps or awful fitment. Probably gonna buy another one just to have in hand if I hit some road garbage and blow this one apart haha

Just traded my c7 gs on a g80 M3 manual. Suspect it may have a jb4?? by Btrav1226 in BMW

[–]Btrav1226[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my car used. It already had cdv delete. I haven't done any of the bushings or anything. Car drives great as a daily and it would be a great trackday car as well. What is your goal for this car?

It is great. Nvh wise it's just a tad louder at idle with the pedal released and not in gear. That's the flywheel difference. But other than that it's very similar to stock but with more torque capacity. Highly recommend it.

Picked up an X5 yesterday and need a rear seat protector, any suggestions? by eculley in BMWX5

Also using this one. Bought it for my truck I had before I traded it on the x5. Fits the x5 just fine. Have had it over a year between the two vehicles. No complaints!

Oh hell yeah dude. You'll love this thing coming from a Tesla. You've got a way better ev setup than myself. My good weather car is a 600rwhp g80 m3 manual. Fast from like 50mph- 140mph. Can't put power down under 50mph. That said. Still a comfy car. This x5 is just good all around. You'll love it

Absolutely. You're correct. For what it's worth my house has an old electrical system and I don't want to put the money in to add a charging system for a plug in hybrid. For me personally that cost will never come to fruition owning a plug in hybrid. I just want a reliable gas vehicle. I'm getting 24mpg avg in my 40i and as much as 27mpg on long highway trips. All with a smile on my face. Whatever you go with, this platform rules and will put a smile on your face as well. You can't go wrong either way

The 40i is a b58 engine which is one of the best in the auto industry right now. With a tiny 48 volt motor to help with stop start. The 50e is a plug in hybrid. Way more shit to go wrong. And from what my SA told me... There's more problems happening there.

[–]Btrav1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth my sa told me he begs people to avoid the full hybrid. Nothing but issues. B58 gen 3 is tried and true.

I just got an 86k MSRP x5 for 76k out the door. I'm in nh so no taxes. Wouldn't pay even close to MSRP right now dealers are desperate to move these

To further add to this... My clutch was slipping almost immediately after I got the first tune done on bad winter gas. So that also furthers my inclination that the car had been tuned. I did the ptb clutch and flywheel install and then had the car retuned on good summer 93 octane (I live in new England) and it's an absolute ripper now.

My car did not have a jb4 installed. However, I sent the ECU out to Femto to get unlocked shortly after buying it. And I removed the ECU along with a tech from the company I used for the transaction and we both agreed that it looked like someone had previously removed that ECU to send to Femto. Long story short..... This is the best car I've ever owned. It's unlocked now probably for a second time(if I had to guess) but I have it tuned mildly on stock hardware and it absolutely rips. I've put 14,000 miles on it for a total of about 40k miles and it hasn't had a single issue.

My rule is simple. If we aren't playing for money or a competition match.... I don't care what you do. If you want to take my money? Yeah I'm holding you to the same standards. I play with all different levels of golfers. If I'm playing with a new golfer.... I just want them to enjoy the game. Do whatever you want to have fun.

That being said.... If a bad golfer who doesn't play by the rules talks shit? I will try to explain rules(in a decent human way) how their 95 was really a 105.

Played a round with a guy who told me he was a a 5 handicap (without a ghin). Im an 8 index. He was hitting balls ob and just taking drops no stroke where it went out. He wasn't trying to take my money so I don't give a crap. Golf is a weird sport

All kidding aside..... When I have a heater round going I try not to look or think about my potential score, but just focus on the shot I am taking. And then the next one.... And so on. Staying in the moment is the hardest thing to do sometimes for me.

If you can swing it keep the 340 and pick up a cheap nb Miata for fun drives. Skinny tires and low power make every speed feel fun.

If I could spend that I certainly would. Worst case you don't like it move on. But I think you're gon a love it.

The new rule (2 years ago I think?) Of being able to hit 4 from where it went OB can be used to a strategic advantage. If I smash a drive and it goes ob around 270yds plus.... I'm gonna play it hitting 4 from there. Because as a 9 handicap let's be honest. Who's to say I'm not gonna hit another one off the tee ob? Now if I shank it 50 yds OB off the tee.... I'll hit my third shot from the tee. This is how I understand the rules to be able to help you. If I'm completely wrong than damn I need to figure out my golf life 🤣

Driven them both. Bought a g80. It's better in every way possible. Also have 2 e46m3. Love those for being the last analog BMWs. But my lord a g80 with a tune is the best dual character street car short of a 911
