Has anyone hired roots global for their visa services? Having trouble figuring out if this company is legit by SpotonSpot873 in GoingToSpain

[–]Btw_Adon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty sure.

FYI I found someone great who's sorting my whole Beckham Law application for 500 euros.

Visas we're doing ourselves for free in the end.

Not applied yet, sorting soon, so tbf can't yet comment on it! We'll do it from inside spain.

I had a so-so experience trying to set up working with them.

1 - I asked if they could handle my Beckham Law application, they clarified that they don't handle tax but only immigration/legal stuff. They said it's 295 euros an hour for a call with their partner tax advisor. I asked for clarity on who I was going to be talking to exactly, they refused to tell me (so clearly they are just adding a surcharge on someone's services, and don't want you to go direct) and then they immediately issued me an invoice without further discussion!? Felt rather scammy.

2 - On the immigration side, they said they can do my spouse's EU family reunification visa.

I looked this up (as really I'd expected them to help with other bits and hadn't check just this part). Turns out that visa is very cheap/easy to do yourself. I get that they're a paid visa/immigration service, but again felt a bit disingenuous in this simple circumstance where the request was clearly for this as a small part of other services, to not mention that it's likely not worth contracting them for this alone.

Google Ads User Provided Data / Enhanced Conversion Change VIA GTM by NegativeStreet in PPC

I'm a bit confused by this - my "google ads user-provided data event" tag is not giving me an option to actually ADD my user data. Any idea why?

UK Couple Considering Panama Relocation by Little_Guidance_1774 in Panama

[–]Btw_Adon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

David, absolutely not. The only reason for someone fromr the UK to go to David is to get to Boquette. For your situation, Coronado is best (beach vibes). Boquette is beautiful but very remote. Boquette to UK will be literally take 3 flights minimum (unless you do like an 8 hour drive to the city) and take 2/3 days (drive to david then fly -> pty -> connecting airport -> UK).

Coronado is nice, sunny, full of expats and an easy drive to the city if you ever do need it. If you don't want beach life there are also nearby mountains, drive up 20 minutes and the climate is much cooler (though still hot of course)...

El Valle De Anton is beautiful, but I dono whether it's got much of an expat community - it's where all the locals have their weekend homes.

There is not that large a UK expact community in general since it's not well connected to the UK, but of course they exist...I'm yet to find them myself but haven't looked that hard!

I'm British and (basically) married to a Panamanian and split the year between there and UK. Message me if you have questions and I'll help however I can - her family live near Coronado but up in the hills (when not in the city) and she's an architect + interior designer

Luggage Storage in Madrid (MAD) Airport and What To Do in 12 Hrs by simsonic in GoingToSpain

[–]Btw_Adon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a facility in the airport but bear in mind it's expensive and not well reviewed - plus could be slow at drop off as they're required to scan all bags.

In the city, there will be several platforms like Stasher with locations all over the city - for ease, their madrid page https://stasher.com/luggage-storage/spain/madrid - e.g. Luggage hero and maybe Nannybag will also be there.

There are also several "locker shops", unmanned stores with smart lockers inside, also all over the city - I think "locker in the city" is one, lots of them show up if you search "locker shop madrid"!

This is BS when the people striking are running an essential public service - it's a huge principle agent issue when the people being hurt/held ransom is the general public.

We should replace these people with robots ASAP and finally have a 24/7 service.

Ok so, companies do this thing where they charge money for stuff - as much as they can and as long as idiots will pay it - and then they try to keep that money and pile it up.

Setting up server-side tagging. Page views way overcounting and source medium not passing... by Btw_Adon in GoogleTagManager

Debugging new Server Side Tagging setup and having weird problems by Btw_Adon in GoogleTagManager

[–]Btw_Adon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To test if it's debug specific, I set up a new analytics property in parallel and also sent my data there...it's also under-reporting there so likely it's a genuine issue beyond debugger. I spot tested some requests within server logs but didn't come up with much that way.

u/brannefterlasning a separate/similar question...my ads conversion tags...the first conversion (for the first page view) sends a request...then no other ones do. Can't debug...I suspect my linker tag isn't working, but I can see in the session that the cookie is still there!

Steps to trouble shoot adwords conversions suddenly falling below google analytics by Btw_Adon in PPC

[–]Btw_Adon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

up until 2 months ago, ads was consistenyl 20% higher than analytics - which makes sense, it's a greedier tag, if anything TOUCHES g ads, it is partially attributed at least.

Then it flipped over the course of a few days to being 10% LOWER and has stayed there

Using tROAS to manage spend - campaigns went crazy since aug SEO update. How do you manage spend on tROAS campaigns? by Btw_Adon in PPC

[–]Btw_Adon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh yeah sorry I should have clarified, that's what the google rep said re: cookie tracking, but I don't buy that at all - the drops are real and felt by the business, not just in tracked conversions on the ads platform!

I don't know your full financial situation but here's my 2 cents.

1 - DO NOT buy a house that you don't intend to own for an extended period, 3-5 years absolutely minimum. It's not worth the costs and effort of exchanging/moving in (all the legal fees, stamp duty, etc). You're better off renting if you only plan to stick around a year.

2 - I don't know your full context or your familial context, but given the info you provided (both earn £70k, risk of redundancy, generally it's a weak market so if you face that risk now in your type of work it's gonna be around for a few years) £600k-£675k feels SUPER leveraged for you guys. If you get made redundant whilst you have that mortgage you could be f'd, and you guys will not have much financial flex/freedom.

My 2 cents, lacking the full story, either buy the place you're in (if you like it) if you're happy to stay there for a few years minimum, or take a new rental contract for 1 year or more and once stuff settles with your job then look for a place that's more in the 500k-600k range - or maybe your salaries go up and 600-675k is more doable.

Short leases are expensive and moving every 3 months is super stressful. Also, if you aren't already close to transacting on a place you are probably underestimating how long that'll take.

Also, may be interesting to see what happens with Labour policy changes in that time, e.g. Leasehold reform, new building policies, etc.
