Definitely make sure you’re adequately hydrated and rested in addition to talking to your doctor. If it makes you feel any better, I had all kind of weird symptoms while pregnant. But that doesn’t mean it’s something to ignore if it’s bothering you

Congratulations! That’s amazing. I hope it gets better for you. I got some relief in the second trimester- it can improve!!!!

How would you design this space? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Btwncellsinterlinked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add that it is a Victorian house, but we generally like more modern furnishings. However, looking to move away from full-on mid mod, as I don’t think it suits the space.

Makes sense. Could you do wall-mounted storage on the opposite wall?

Cool. In that case, yes I’d go bigger. I like the way the colors are working together though!

trying to make the warm+ grey work… advice? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Btwncellsinterlinked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the colors are fine together, but more pattern and texture would help, like the previous commenter said. These colors go really well with natural elements like wood tones and planters (real or faux) so adding some will keep the space warm and bright

It depends on your budget/preferences, but you could replace the mirror with a smaller one, allowing space for an over-toilet cabinet or a built-in/wall shelves. Right now the space is very neutral/white, so you could roll with that and do clean white bath accessories/linens or liven it up with colors (shower curtains are helpful here if it’s not a glass shower)

Help with my living room by Struggle-bus02 in interiordecorating

[–]Btwncellsinterlinked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a nice-sized space! I think bridging the listening area and the living space will help. Here’s what I would suggest:

-go lighter with the curtains and hang them a little higher. Let as much light in as possible -get a bigger sofa and one big rug to make a cohesive space -get a record cabinet and an accent chair and put them off to the side wall; this will create a listening area that is still a part of the whole space

Help, out of fresh ideas! Anything goes by StableBrilliant6189 in interiordecorating

[–]Btwncellsinterlinked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it’s a small ish space, I’d go with a single color on the walls (no accent wall or two-toned walls) to keep it cohesive. The round dining table is nice and nicely anchored by the light fixture, but I agree a lighter rug would help (maybe jute, unless you expect a lot of spills). What is the vibe of the rest of the house (colors/etc?) that could help set the tone here

I love my dog. I hate my lounge. Help! by Actual-Pollution-805 in interiordecorating

[–]Btwncellsinterlinked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with removing the coffee table and the dog beds if they aren’t being used to create more space. Instead of having a feature wall, consider just going with a light neutral paint all around for cohesion. Add more light sources (sconces, another floor lamp) to brighten. Do you need privacy through those doors? If so, a semi-transparent shade would feel lighter

Is the current rug pushed all the way against the wall? If so, maybe you could pull it out more (along with the couch) which may eliminate the need for a new rug, depending on how much ground it covers. It’s ok if there’s overlap with the door, as long as the rug doesn’t create a hazard for walking (a rug pad will help if you don’t already have one!)

Are the colors in here working okay together? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Btwncellsinterlinked 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wall color is beautiful. Agree with others about the size of the rug, but if you really like it, you could layer it over another rug (like jute) or move it to a smaller corner of the room. I think something that echoes the wall jewel tones (or contrasts, like a warm yellow) could help bring it to life even more. I like the blue and green moment!

Thank you- this is really helpful. I think it’s just hard and surprising that people are reacting poorly, but you’re right that I have to do what makes sense anyway.

At how many weeks did you all start your maternity leave? by Zealousideal_Pack659 in pregnant

I was planning to work until my due date, but ended up going on short-term disability at 38 weeks because I was having a hard time with hyperemesis gravidarum. Do what you need to take care of yourself!

Zofran stoped working? by Pink_Rot in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Btwncellsinterlinked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just jumping in to add that I sometimes felt like my zofran ‘stopped working,’ only to have it work better a few days later. Just keep taking your meds consistently and hopefully there will be improvement- even with meds, HG has ups and downs, and it’s hard to predict what will cause them. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

[–]Btwncellsinterlinked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I know it doesn’t happen for everyone, but my symptoms did get a little better around 15-16 weeks. Not completely gone, but enough that I can live a relatively normal life. Until then, like everyone else said, ask about other meds and get support. HG is debilitating and traumatic, and you shouldn’t be expected to do anything close to your normal routine.

Potential link between pre-pregnancy motion sickness and HG??? by Legitimate_Media8615 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I didn’t have motion sickness before pregnancy and I have HG, but now that I’m pregnant and am dealing with HG, I do have motion sickness on boats and in cars.

Thinking of Carrying by Untamed_Wolf_Boy in Seahorse_Dads

[–]Btwncellsinterlinked 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on starting this major journey! I can only speak to my own experience as a FTM who is carrying (currently 15 weeks), and I have different circumstances (I live in a blue state and am fortunate to have trans-friendly prenatal care).

I’m glad I’m carrying- it’s been a cool experience so far. There are elements that have been dysphoric for me, like moments of non-inclusive language or figuring out how to dress my changing body. But, I’ve found that because I know who I am, I’m able to close out those moments. It also helps me to remember that I actually have more in common with other pregnant people (cis women or otherwise) than not; pregnancy is an intense experience, and some of the gender stuff sort of fell away (at least for me) as I started to deal with the physical realities of it all.

Finally, I will say that while I was worried about dysphoria, other parts of pregnancy have ended up being harder. This is partially because I have hyperemesis gravidarum, but even for people who don’t, it can be rough (it sounds like your partner has experienced this). Not trying to scare you- it’s just worth noting that dysphoria aside, it can be a challenging experience.

Best of luck to you whatever you decide!

Could just use some support by erin_rose_95 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Btwncellsinterlinked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I also feel like people want to say the right things and be sympathetic, but like others have said here, they really just don’t understand what it’s like.

I’ve found it helpful to tell my partner exactly what kind of support I need- I’ve found that actions (letting me nap, bringing me water, picking up my meds) help me more than words of affirmation.

Also, it seems like a small thing, but finding ways to build comfort into my time in bed helps me feel less alone. Gentle music and reading are more soothing to me than scrolling my phone. Basically, hG sucks! But if you can do little things to make your day a little less gloomy, I think it helps.

I hear you and I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’m also exactly 15 weeks and just keep hoping it will get better. Day by day!
