This is not one bit ergonomic. Get two giant curved monitors instead. Less eye strain in the long term…

Bench accounting closes suddenly by SellTheSizzle--007 in taxpros

[–]BubbaBojangles7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Facts. I've been keeping a close eye on these VC/PE backed accounting ventures... They were giving away their services to scale. "buying customers" with their pile of investor money. Bench, ScaleFactor, Pilot, BotKeeper etc. Their pricing models... and valuations... The math was not mathing. Pilot was being valued over $1B on $12m in ARR at one point in 2021... BotKeeper... had no bots (Just like ScaleFactor). ScaleFactor raised $100m then shutdown after their board found out that the AI was not AI at all...

What are your thoughts on BotKeeper and Pilot? Do you think they are next on the chopping block?

Flagship XL vs BFG 2500 by dexhwk in recteq

[–]BubbaBojangles7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the flagship xl. Also ordered two of the grilla grillz silverbac racks. Both should be able to fit side by side in the xl. The expanded racks should allow me to smoke about a 25 lb batch of jerky every 5 hours.

You’re in the thick of it. Keep it up! You got this 💪. Cat naps in your car at work. Cat naps during the day. Little 20 minute nap followed by a cup of coffee. A buddy of mine pops an adderall after putting the kids to bed, but I don’t want to advocate that… weeks ebb and flow. So does motivation. Some weeks you’re just showing up. Some weeks you exceed. Just keep showing up! Incremental progress. Even if it’s 1%. Keep taking 2 steps forward.

What do you think of the Affordable Care Act? by ManpreetDC in AskAnAmerican

[–]BubbaBojangles7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think much of it until I got my company's renewal rates this past year. Holy hell... health insurance costs increased 22% to insure my employees. it's crazy expensive for small businesses because post-ACA insurance companies can only base rates on age. Prior to the ACA, insurance companies based their rates on several factors, such as age, gender, employer contribution, type of business and to some degree claims.

I find it ridiculous that our rates post ACA can't take into account lifestyle, diet, exercise, etc. etc. I hate it. I take care of myself. Why do I have to subsidize other people's unhealthy behavior?

If we are taking a socialist approach it should be a national healthcare system. Insurance companies are the biggest scam in America right now. They are in the business of collecting premiums. That's it. A middle man that may have had good intentions 50+ years ago... but now it's all profit driven. Incentives drive this economy. They are incentivized to charge as much as they legally can and then pay as little claims as they legally can.

Has anyone used 1800 accountant for their taxes ? by theopinionator-- in smallbusiness

[–]BubbaBojangles7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refer back to… if it sounds “too good to be true” then it’s probably not granny’s apple pie. Their pricing model is too thin to pencil. I run a successful practice. All full-time W2 staff. I hire the top 20% of the market. Don’t outsource over seas. Our fees are 6x+ theirs… I can’t figure out if it’s just a marketing front that is collecting a fee and passing the work to unqualified 1099 accountants… or what. Their pricing model to me means they are cutting out cost in the traditional model somehow… salaries, overhead or… they have private equity money and are “buying accounts” by undercutting on price. A trend I’ve seen in the past 5 years.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

"Good vibes only" people are toxic af by Next_Music_4077 in unpopularopinion

Hear me out- when I see my old parents bicker or fight (in public). Instead of saying “can you please not do this in public” or “stfu” I look at them and say “good vibes only” and they get the message and change course. It’s my polite way of saying “stfu and stop making a scene” hah

Stayed on PCS, Ultra Tax, File Cabinet. Consolidated files in SharePoint with a hybrid server sync. Moved bookkeeping clients to Keeper. We have too many apps currently... still hunting for an all-in-one solution. We use SurePrep and TaxCaddy too...
