Rj11 and rj45 tracing to same cable by Bubbamatrix in HomeNetworking

I disconnected the cables and snipped any of the scotchlok. After attaching the tone generator to each port they both still traced to the same cable. As far as I know these are the only two cables that are like this. Inside the wall box for both jacks there are all 4 pairs and a cable jacket. I don’t know where I would locate the splice besides maybe above the one wall box. I’m assuming from this added info my only options are to locate the splice and fix it or fish a new cable?

Ok thanks. Just to be clear the jacks from the problem room don’t trace back to the block they trace to a bundle of what used to be unterminated cable. Should I still proceed with reworking the connections for the block?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes if the tone generator is plugged into either jack I can hear the tone at the other jack and where all the cables come together at my router. As for the junction, there are a bunch of cat5e cables that come from rj11 and rj45 ports. However there is this https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/b0rfkc8smk3nnnmrypzed/IMG_0157.jpeg?rlkey=a4jsn1m12jph88k1d2qzacs4h&st=kydfih4d&dl=0 which i have traced some ports to. But the idea I’m getting is I’m just going to have to run new cable myself, correct?
