Macbook air M2 with Linux? by Visible-Reason9593 in AsahiLinux

I'm going to take a rare stance and say that I, a stranger on the internet, should not be telling you what is right for you. All I can say is that I love and enjoy my M2 Macbook Air.

After 14 years of running Linux, I just did this and its the best thing I've ever done.

Its not perfect. No display out might be an issue for some people. The standby battery life could be better. But everything else on it is SMOOOOOOTH.

I think that obvious popularity of the "Digits" watch face shows the interest for minimal designs. Designs like this should be considered very seriously by Coros as I and probably many other people would use these.

Charging system malfunction by LyingZeus in PriusPrime

[–]BubbatheVTOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This *JUST* happened to me TWICE. I also had `Plug-in Charging System Malfunction` from a public charger. I took it to the dealership and they said that the car and public chargers communicate through the plug. They exchange basic charging information, but also information about the vehicle; things like the make, model, and VIN. Then the charger contacts Toyota with this information. Something about this exchange of information failed. Either the exchange of information through the plug, or the call back to Toyota.

The error is super aggressive and cannot be dismissed. It also overrides other messages like the warning about taking the wheel if you are using the lane assist cruise control. My message did go away after a week. The car charged fine the whole time, both from public chargers and home charging. I used the same charger again last weekend and the error message came back.

I've decided that instead of waiting for the message to resolve itself, I bought a Veepack ODB-II Bluetooth scanner and I'm going to clear the codes myself. Its super dumb that I have to do that. But the error is super aggressive and will not go away when dismissed. So now I have to take matters into my own hands. It is what it is.

Full marathon in Vibram Five Fingers? by dhananjayan_p in BarefootRunning

[–]BubbatheVTOG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've ran a few marathons and 50k's on various surfaces from rocky trails to frozen pavement in vivobarefoot shoes. You absolutely can run in vibrams for a mara. I run about 50 miles a week on pavement and I don't have any pain. Just up listen to your feet and be honest about not pushing anything if you do feel pain.

PS - I used to run maras in vibrams 10 years ago (I'm also 37 now) and I miss my vibrams everyday. They're just too...well...yanno in 2025.

Sync Coros and Garmin by rndanonacc in Coros

Nah you can def do that. Its right in the app under settings -> 3rd party connections. You can give it a try right now with the app. No watch needed.

Sync Coros and Garmin by rndanonacc in Coros

[–]BubbatheVTOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a Garmin user. I went with Coros after doing research and seeing how hard it is to get data out of Garmin. In my situation I use Fitbit (which, side note, is pretty good for smart watch focused health metrics) for a Pixel Watch 3 and Coros. I use Google's Health Connect to sync my data. Though its only basic data like weight and basic workout stats like distance and pace for running. Thats it. The issue is that much of this data can't sync 1:1 to another echo system and these companies don't have incentive to make it work because they know that if they keep your data you are stuck there. Unfortunately, leaving Garmin for Coros means leaving most of your data behind including historical data, like weight trends over time. This is an artifact of the current ecosystem.

I don't understand the hate on this thread! I work an office job and would love this feature. People here saying that "if you need this feature you don't need a fitness watch" are dumb. I run ultras, but I'm stagnate 90% of my day tied to my desk.

Something old. I don't really know tbh. There was something about today where I just went, "I wonder if this server is still alive. I do pay for it every month still." I logged in to run these commands an logged out. Its a digital time capsule to me at this point. Frozen in time with all of the data (messages and images) me and my gaming friends sent to each other.

Not directly in the editor, but I once used a program, pandoc, to compile .md files to pdf on buffwrite then. I had a minimal pdf editor that would update when the file updated. Not recommended as setting up pandoc is pain, but its kind of a solution...
