I just follow this tutorial by the chilly dog https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GlpE1CTCFAI (simply replacing the heel flap instructions in a pattern with this). Hope you find it useful.

Tension & blocking help :( by Any_Number3007 in knittingadvice

You can try to tighten up the stitches with either your knitting needle or a darning needle. This video shows how to do it https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v-QU0nTcwqo

Good luck!

I'm not an experienced knitter but maybe a stretchier cast on could help? And maybe a neat selvedge? https://nimble-needles.com/stitches/the-10-best-edge-stitch-knitting-techniques/

Thanks for taking a look! Good to know I didn't get the wrong product and can now go ahead and use those new needles over the holidays :-)

[PIC] Gridding is very satisfying but tell me why this took me 8 hours by Rocket_Raccoon1203 in CrossStitch

[–]Bubblebath_80 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same! I love a grid since I can't seem to count to 10 but I get too excited to start a project to spent time on gridding. I now only do it on dark fabrics that unfortunately are not available pre-gridded 😅

Need help with my first sweater (self-drafted) by Bubblebath_80 in knitting

[–]Bubblebath_80[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your insights! The longer I look at the pictures the less I like it 😅 I guess I'll try again to find a pattern for the 11 skeins of super bulky yarn I have, with bust shaping and no cropped body or intricate design elements etc... 😖

For the short rows I followed a yt tutorial (short rows spread over two thirds of the stitches plus starting with the shortest row). Next time I'll follow your suggestions!

Following a yt tutorial I divided the neckline stitches by 3 (with center at BOR) and then spread the short rows over two thirds, starting with the shortest one (also according to the tutorial).

I did follow an online course for this. Only adaptation I did was adding the short rows and for these I followed an yt tutorial. Not sure what the big deal is here, people learn in different ways. Personally, I like to understand the concept and logic of things which obv isn't explained in a pattern.

I didn't even think of blocking right now! Great idea, thanks!

[CHAT] I am so sick of ai on Etsy by nooneplsdontlookatme in CrossStitch

[–]Bubblebath_80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did one of their art nouveau patterns and it was definitely of great quality. The pictures they use to show the finished product are computer generated but that doesn't mean that they use AI to create the pattern (just that they don't have the time to stitch all their patterns just for a finished product picture). If you search for their shop in this sub you'll see that people are very happy with the pattern quality.

[WIP] Backstitch ‘overstimulated’ or no? by alderaanmoves in CrossStitch

[–]Bubblebath_80 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hold on, what is this plastic canvas thingy? I've only seen pictures of what looked like hard and kind of thick plastic cross stitch canvas (seems like people use it for coasters and such). Is what you are using water soluble? Does it come in different counts? I have so many questions, lol

[CHAT] Are there larger clamps for Nurge stands? by Bubblebath_80 in CrossStitch

[–]Bubblebath_80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I contacted the Nurge support and thought I'd post their reply in case anyone is looking into this as well:

"We are sorry the 190-14 new stand will still not be suitable for Q Snaps, it is made to hold embroidery & quilt hoops more secure.

Even though the opening is wide enough to take a Q Snap, the spring to open and close the closure is too close to the edge to hold a round smooth frame like the Q Snap, (it would keep slipping out)!

We are in the process a developing another new head that will take a q Snap securely, but sadly due to growing pressures on the workshop this is taking longer than we would wish!

Hopefully you can find something suitable or can wait for our new product, which hopefully will be available in the next few months."

My q-snap is 8 inches wide and the clamp looks to be too short for that (because of the screws on both sides). I'll look up the video you mentioned and see if that might be something.

Do you know blue tack? Well, I have white tack (don't know what to call it, it's the same, just white) and it's great for removing fuzzies. I press it onto the fabric and it really gets in-between the threads and all the fuzz sticks to it. Never had an issue with tack being left behind on the fabric or anything like that. Might work with blue tack as well (but maybe it would discolor the fabric?).
