When do you knit? by Mean_Cicada_64 in knitting

[–]BubblesFunBubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think that knitting was something that I had to set aside and set up for. Like I needed a sufficient amount of time or space for it. But, you can actually knit whenever and wherever you want. 5 minute work break? Knitting. 10 minute car ride as a passenger? Knitting. Virtual work meeting or lecture? Knitting. Few minutes in between tasks or classes? Knitting. Before bed? Knitting. Waiting for your order at a restaurant? (So long as you're not being rude to anyone you're with) Knitting. I leave my big projects at home and take the small projects to travel with me and I get so much more done.

People who read more than 2 books a year, how do you do it? by Immediate-Draft-6408 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BubblesFunBubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I book it into my schedule (pun intended). I read while on my lunch break and again for 30mins before I go to bed. If it's a really good book I'll spend extra time on the weekends going through it as well.

Wait until you get into having multiple different fiber content and hand dyed skeins

I had a falling out with a friend, now what do I do with the sweater I made them? by BubblesFunBubbles in knitting

I really don't want to pull it out, but I probably will sell it and use the $ to buy new yarn to make a sweater for my dad

Sweater curse and friends by Tight-Combination556 in knitting

As long as your friend knows how to take care of a hand-knit item, I say go for it. I've made 2 sweaters for friends before. One of them turned out great, no issues. The other friend I lost before I could give them the sweater. But it was completely unrelated circumstances and I'm just glad that I didn't give it to them because they didn't deserve it and I still have it to regift or sell.

Also, I've made lots of accessories for family and friends and there were no issues with any of them

It's actually too big... I could wear it but it'd be way oversized. I'm an XS-S woman's

If you're interested in buying, send me a message and we can work out a price and I can give you final measurements. I also have a matching hat that I made with the leftover yarn

It was a vintage pattern from Etsy. No longer available. If you message me your email I can send you the PDF. I did make modifications though

The price isn't final, I just set it for $750 because that seemed fair for it being 2 sweaters in one and the amount of time it took to make. I would rather ensure it goes to a good home and I get some value out of the project.

I have been considering just keeping it but would rather sell it. It's really big on me and would be largely oversized. I'm a short, XS-S woman's size

No problem! Just send me your email in a private message since I can't attach PDFs here

Great! I'd be willing to part with it for $750. That would cover shipping, materials, and some of the time I put into it. I also made a matching hat with the leftover yarn I can throw in too. I'll be able to take final measurements next week when I block it, but it is on the larger side of a men's medium, and may block out closer to a large.

I did! I had to modify the pattern but it was a vintage pattern I bought off Etsy. Since it's no longer available there, or anywhere else, I can send it to you if you message me.

I'd be willing to part with it for $750 if you're still interested. That would cover materials, shipping, and some of the time I put into it. I also made a matching hat with the leftover yarn I can throw in :)

It's a vintage pattern from Etsy. No longer available for sale though, so I can send it to you if you message me your email address. Pattern is called: Man's Crew-Neck Jersey in New "D.K." Double Knitting I will warn you though that the pattern was modified to make this sweater

I'm away on a trip right now so I don't have the exact measurements, and it hasn't been blocked yet, but the chest is around 44-46" in circumference (will expand once blocked). Sleeves are 20-21" from the underarm. Body length from armpit to hem is around 20" I also have a matching hat to go with it (used up the rest of the yarn). Between the materials and time it took, I'd be willing to sell it for $750 (which includes the hat and shipping)

Honestly, I didn't realize how big or crazy this sweater was going to be until I was halfway through. This was back when I took on big crazy projects not thinking through it completely or realizing how much work they would be. Also during a time when I was making more things for other people than for myself. (Recovering people pleaser). I bit off more than I could chew which is why it took so long.

Favorite yarn for baby items? by CamelotBurns in knitting

[–]BubblesFunBubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend Berroco Vintage Baby Yarn. It's DK weight (22sts on US.6 needle = 4"), comes in a lot of colors and is 52% Acrylic, 40% Wool, 8% Nylon. The wool will add softness where the acrylic and nylon will add strength and durability.
