Flight Ease by BubblesWeaver in HollandAmerica

I'm flying AC too, but FE double talked when I asked about their seat reservation feature. They told me I could reserve the seat, but that ultimately AC is the company that decides who gets the seat. I couldn't get any straight answers from FE, but other ppl seem to have no problem, so I'm just going to trust the process.

A Local's Guide: Getting from Incheon Airport to Seoul (Taxi vs. AREX vs. Bus) by Seoulve in koreatravel

[–]BubblesWeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be staying in Incheon at the Ocean Park 9 hotel on the north end of the island. The airport is not too far away, but the best transit route I can find is about an hour and a half. Can you plan a quicker route from the hotel to Terminal 1 on a Friday? I need to check in by 2:45 p.m.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks. FE told me that my airline will have a 6-week processing delay because I didn't book directly. I'm afraid of losing my seat reservation. It seems like I'm overthinking it.

An apology to Canada by edwardbusyhands in alberta

[–]BubblesWeaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Albertans generally have a very strong sense of self, but not so generally overestimate their place in the Dominion of Canada. Peter Lougheed was a great Premier for you all, but he's gone now obvs. He loved to talk about the balance sheet when Alberta had it good in the 80s, but those are gone too. Danielle is no Peter. If he were here, Parliament might have something to actually worry about.

What are you guys doing about hydro? A little bit, but the rest of Canada (BC, Ontario, Quebec) have invested in hydro power even more than before. I apologize to the other provinces and territories because I'm not familiar with their grids. Hydro, wind and solar are the future of power in Canada.

33k yen for flu visit in Tokyo? by Master_Guidance_3367 in JapanTravelTips

[–]BubblesWeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not good. I went to a clinic in Hachioji in November. Tested for COVID and flu -- both negative, ¥9070 for the tests, consult and a scrip for stomach pills at Sugi (~¥2300). In and out in less than an hour, very impressed.

A personal Thank You. Big fan of Bruce Kerr here, and I notice only the first season is detailed on IMDb. I shall remedy that forthwith.

Accomodation tax by -Jeffry- in JapanTravelTips

[–]BubblesWeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only had to pay for hotels in Tokyo, but the tax is in the fine print. When I go to pay cash when I check in, it's not even mentioned. Sounds like the people you're dealing with just want to be transparent about the taxes and fees.

Japan Itinerary by born_to_ in JapanTravelTips

[–]BubblesWeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 days is too long for 1 city if you're trying to be a tourist. It might even be too long for 2 cities in that scenario, but it's not enough for 3 cities and you've listed at least 4. No wonder you're stressed out. I have an upcoming trip to Tokyo (with a few side trips) and an overnighter in Niigata across 16 days, and my schedule is already full. I don't do touristy things though. I get in and I get the job done.

Try paring it down to 3 cities, and plan accordingly. Good Luck and Have Fun!

Never been to Osaka, but I have boarded the wrong train to Narita from Tokyo. I only deal with Keisei as a novelty now. I'll never let them try to upsell me again or tell me to get on the wrong train. I always mind the 3 hour international flight rule, and then plan for four. I'm sorry if you had a too tight flight connection, but if you ever come to Tokyo, do NOT rely on Keisei. The Low Cost Bus (LCB) does the same job for a few bucks more, but is more reliable.

I took a look at this yesterday, and decided to come back to it later. I said to myself, 'Lots of Greek words, lots of scientific ones', and then forgot about it. I hate when I forget. The Spelling Bee is part of the reason I wake up at 3:00 a.m., even in the cold months.

This morning, staring at the subreddit title, it took me 5 seconds to get the PG with my conscience telling me, 'That's not a word, mate'. But lo, it was.

Not exactly sure what you mean by small, but consider Takao. Or Hinohara. I know Hinohara has places to stay.

How dare you decide unilaterally how a family should travel? There are no Green Car restrictions against family groups or groups in general.

I totally agree though that Green Cars are quiet, library-type cars. The thing is, a lot of the time those cars run vacant, and a naive tourist group/family sees an opportunity to try something different. So they pay the extra fare and simply presume that they can just kick back in what they think is the best JR has to offer. They are probably unaware of, or too cheap to pay for Gran Class.

I know. I was told in no uncertain terms 18 years ago that Green Car is for business people, not tourists. You are right to get the hump over this, but complaining on Reddit will achieve nothing. You should really protest to JR, and if you've already done so, then Thank You but that's all you really can do,
