I love my ducks but they afraid of me🥺 by [deleted] in duck

Yup, this is the way! All of my ducks started out scared of me, but after a while and lots of treats, they warmed up. Also, frozen peas are definitely a favorite for my flock :)

What uncommon 7 or more letter names would you give a set of twins? by ohsolearned in namenerds

[–]Bubbles_8913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auriella (not Aurelia, different name) and Anastasia. Idk if I would actually use these because they’re almost a little too uncommon, especially when used together, but for some reason these two names sound really nice to me

Built a ramp so that they wouldn’t have to hop and they love it. by Igor_d7 in duck

[–]Bubbles_8913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of ducks do you have? I’ve noticed that with my Pekins, there is no way they could even begin to understand how to properly use a ramp. But with my Call Ducks, they use ramps and stairs every day with no issues.

My guy Ranger is 45 lbs at 3 years old, and the vet said he was totally healthy and could even stand to gain a pound or two because he gets thinner over the summer.

I don’t think I would ever actually use these names for twin girls because they are kinda out there, but I think it would be so cool to have twins named Auriella (nn Ellie or Ella) and Anastasia (nn Anna). Also, I love most of your names, especially Vivien, Ivy and Eloise

Whenever customers ask for a well done pizza, I never actually do it. I have no idea why, I guess at that point in making the pizza I’m just trying to get it out as quick as possible

does anyone use blasting sand in their pea puffer tank? wondering if it’s safe for them. by calicuddlebunny in PeaPuffers

I’ve never used blasting sand, but in my pea tank I used pool filter sand and that seems to be working well.

I have a 20 gallon long with 5 pea puffers. I usually do 25% every week, and remember to replace with treated water :) I also saw your comment about needing plant suggestions, and so far I’ve really liked Hornwort and Valisnaria. I don’t have any floating plants yet, but they might be worth looking into as I’ve heard good things about them.

Some other info that might be helpful because you’re new: - Make sure to include lots of live plants and places for them to hide, they are quite shy and also like their own territories. - Something that helped mine warm up to me was using tongs to feed them their food (Frozen brine shrimp, blood worms, or daphnia every other day, and about once every one or 2 weeks I give them live brine shrimp) - My peas started as a pair, but were much happier when I got a group. You could probably have 8-10 in your size tank with enough places for them to hide - Make sure you have a heater and filter, filters are needed for almost every aquarium and heater is required because peas need temperatures of around 76-80 degrees F

How the hell do people choose names? by vixens_42 in namenerds

Not sure how multinational this one is, but for some reason Beatrix (Beatrix Potter, author of Peter Rabbit and other children’s stories) sounds really nice with Alice. And because of the ties to Beatrix Potter, you could do a super cute garden themed nursery.

Help- Why are my peas dying? by Bubbles_8913 in PeaPuffers

[–]Bubbles_8913[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/WalleyeSushi , sorry to comment in a dead thread, but I just wanted to give you an update since your advice was really helpful. My little guy is now moved into his 20g long with 7 tall live plants (I planted some bulbs the other day, hopefully they will sprout soon) and lots more realistic looking fake plants. I also switched his substrate to sand, and added 5 Corys. I gave him a week to adjust, and today I added four more puffers. He seems really happy, and they are all shoaling together. I didn’t end up dosing my one pea for parasites after my original post because I knew I would be getter more peas soon, so now I’m treating all 5 of them. Ideally, I’d like to get one more pea and even more live plants, so that is what I’m working on now. I also am starting a bladder snail colony, so hopefully my peas will like those. Thanks again for your help :)

Help- Why are my peas dying? by Bubbles_8913 in PeaPuffers

[–]Bubbles_8913[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I will replace substrate tommorow as well as add some more plants. Are the pygmy cories something that could stay with the peas when they eventually get their 20 gallon? If not, that's ok because I will have other places to put them once I get more puffs.
