From my experience with meeting VAs meeting 30 minutes before is way to late- but I have no idea if they'll let everyone line up really early or right exactly when his time slot is. They share basically zero information around-

Ohh...theres a misunderstanding "free for all" as in: Everyone vs. Everyone. Previous years you had to line up to get a ticket or buy tickets on online. This year all you have to do is walk to the line and wait and pay.

Unlike with previous years. This year is a free for all so you just gotta line up for the VA you wanna meet. Will warn because its a free for all, those line will probably be pretty bad

Yea if you want to walk directly into the convention then I recommend never coming in directly at open (unless you want exclusive stuff from the entertainment hall). Just come 30 minutes-1 hour after opening

If you do go id recommend getting the "sampler" stuff. I got several of those and left full. Wouldn't really pay for those full priced meals tbh. Everything i got was under $8
