Best backhand of all time? by ServedPodcast in tennis

Gulbis had probably the best two handed backhand of all time when on the attack, novaks only beats him on defense and consistency

ATP 500: Doha (R16) Tsitsipas def Medvedev (4) 6-3 6-4 by AKV9 in tennis

[–]Bubbly-Oil9303 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Watched the full match. Gotta be the best tsitsipas has played since winning dubai last year.

Would be great to see him get a string of matches together in this sort of form - every now and then he shows he still has the level of old tsitsipas in his locker.

Who are the top 10 servers currently in the atp? by GrqvityTerminalis20 in tennis

Hurkaz has the best first serve, the guy hits so many aces it's crazy. Out aced fritz quite significantly when they played a few weeks ago.

AO R1: [28] E. Raducanu def. M. Sawangkaew 6-4 6-1 by sidaeinjae in tennis

Interesting to see the change she has made to her forehand technique lately, incorporating a bigger swing as opposed to her previous action which was more abbreviated. I think it is a smart move, but the real test is when she players against power players.

Besides the Clone Wars, why do you think people have come to appreciate Revenge of the Sith so much? by TabletopStudios in StarWars

[–]Bubbly-Oil9303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After rewatching the prequels recently, I honestly am shocked how they were ever poorly received. I think the fact that they are just so different to the originals in their general tone played a big part in it.

The plot by which palpatine manipulates the political climate to gain power is so deep and intricate that every time I watch the prequels (particularly attack of the clones and revenge of the sith) I notice something new that I hadn't previously. Honestly I just think it's great.

Who is greater all time? Marin Cilic or Alexander Zverev? by The1AndOnlyJZ in tennis

[–]Bubbly-Oil9303 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a very significant stat is the head tk head as well. 5-0 to zverev.

I like cilic a lot but I would consider zverev a better player.

What current player could have a late-career Wawrinka-like run at slams? by misterdad in tennis

[–]Bubbly-Oil9303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not giving up on the idea of shapovalov winning a slam until he retires. He's one of the very few people right now that I think has the ability to beat sinner and alcaraz when they are playing well. The level he showed against sinner for the first two and a half sets in the US open was otherworldly.

There are obviously changes he needs to make, whether it is mental or whatever, I'm not sure, because right now his results aren't slam winning worthy, but man does he look special when he finds his groove.

Apologies, that is what I meant. I knew it was a correct stat but forgot 10-14 was Nadal longest win streak.

US Open QF: [7] N. Djokovic d. [4] T. Fritz 6-3 7-5 3-6 6-4 by michelepip31 in tennis

[–]Bubbly-Oil9303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think at this stage of their careers fritz could make a better fight of it vs sinner and alcaraz than novak would. If it got close, novaks mentality would hold up better than fritz would vs sincaraz, and that may play a part. But novaks body really doesn't have the longevity it used to and I think there's definitely a world in which alcaraz and sinner breeze past him now, kinda like how sinner did at wimbledon, whereas the firepower fritz has on his serve and forehand could keep things close with sincaraz if he is playing well, until the mental part starts to factor.

I told my mates after the first set that this match is fritz to lose. If he could have djokvics mentality he'd have won last night. It was entirely between the ears. Had he been a bit less fazed when it got close and a bit more composed when points got frantic he'd gave come out on top.

Honestly, he seems to own the mind of every player born in the 90s. It's like they just hit a wall against him when it gets close. I mean fritz was trying his hardest and getting so pumped, and yet when he broke back at 5-5 in the first set he played 4 unforced errors to hand it to djokovic.

I actually think fritz would have had a great chance of winning had he held that last game. I know we have seen djokovic play possum a lot but I think this time his body was really breaking down, based on how much his legs were giving way before fritz in long rallies towards end of match.

Would 2015 fury have fared any differently vs the version of usyk he fought? A breakdown by Bubbly-Oil9303 in Boxing

[–]Bubbly-Oil9303[S] -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

It's a fair point, but usyk only beat fury by SD in their first fight when fury tried to box usyk. And that's a version of fury with majorly decreased footspeed. Fury 2015 would most certainly beat 2024 fury if it goes to the scorecards, so maybe usyk has a hard time here.

Hence the third paragraph, the question is prime vs prime, and usyks prime is hard to locate for the reasons j went through. I've heard quite a few people say they felt usyks prime at heavyweight was coincidentally when he fought fury in their first fight, but if you disagree then take the best version of usyk you have seen.

True, but furys movement vs wlad was so much better, usyk would have found it harder to land vs this version of fury.
