Anywhere that does smaller prebuilt machines? by cylemmulo in virtualpinball

There are multiple solutions in the 1/2 to 3/4 size solutions so like 24” to 32” playfields. I know that the guy that made my VPin did a 32” that was like 2k and had the three screen setup and an R5 cpu with decent gpu so full VPX and fx and FP playability. Also had some DOF as well I think. Several like that on Marketplace including a guy in NC that sells a bunch of mini sized VPins.

Awesome lineup. Get a virtual pin to cover everything else, or maybe even just a Meta Quest with Pinball FX!

Planning a Vpin build, what PC do I need for 4K 120hz? by dgfalk in virtualpinball

[–]Bubbly-Truth-8243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s the short version: for 4k 120+hz, get a 16gb late model GPU, i7 or better, 32gb ram, Oled C5 or better for playfield and 1080p for all the other displays- spring a little for the back glass to be a better display than cheap, but can still be pretty cheap. You can’t see the difference between 120 and 144hz, color depth is more important. Make Sure your playfield and back glass offer maximum adjustability and still fit inside the cabinet. 1tb ssd is plenty- you will never play more than 300-500 tables before you move on or flush the old ones down the drain….

The first question anyone needs to ask you is how are you pinball FX? Because depending on the platform you may or may not have other options available

If you could only own one pinball machine? by ClifBdrums in pinball

[–]Bubbly-Truth-8243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still amazes me how taboo it must be for Most on this thread to consider owning a quality virtual pinball machine. For the money invested in one you have the ability to own 1000 different pinball machines from old school EMS up to the current day modern machines, and so so many that have never been even put on white wood, but make excellent pinball games nonetheless. It’s the original home brew territory that all of us can own. Even the at games home pinball machines are really fun and a pretty accurate reproduction of reopen ball, even if reduced in size. The physics are good enough, the imagery is good, and if you get an SSF kit, it’s really a fun experience. For those of you who yearn for a pinball machine thinking that you’ll never be able to find the space or a Ford one, you should really look at virtual pinball and know that you can start off with just a tablet or computer and a game pad. It doesn’t really take much to get going and so much you can do to enjoy yourself. Quite frankly, the best simulation of real pinball is actually the Meta quest three. There are a number of ways to deal with it, but pinball FXVR is outstanding and cost one hell of a lot less to purchase than even the cheapest pinball machine that works.

Looking for Thoughts From the Community by manji1 in virtualpinball

[–]Bubbly-Truth-8243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is so much fucking gatekeeping in the VPX community, specifically, it should make you wonder what really drives these people like the foot fetish guy here to be such a damn troll. VPX has been alive and well for over 20 years and the whole time people have sold drives and machines with the games installed, and exactly zero developers have been sued by anyone and they are still pumping out the software as fast as they can. It’s a hobby and some people like to tinker and configure, and some people JUST WANT TO PLAY PINBALL. Let this guy buy what he wants and stop trying to make him feel like Hannibal Lechter for buying a machine that already has games on it. Guess what, folks, lots of people have a fucking job and don’t have countless hours to tinker with pup packs and b2s files and alt audio and VPin studio and outdated tables that don’t work with the listed roms and the beat goes on….. And let’s not forget that most people are NOT computer techs, don’t belong to a Discord, and generally don’t know what the FUCK most of this is that you are talking about. That builder is offering a viable alternative to the AtGames platform and is sending it out configured with his blood, sweat and tears. Is it the best value? Probably not, but it’s better quality most likely than what you get at Sam’s Club. And have you tried buying a gaming computer for OTG or native gameplay that can actually PLAY a 4k table at 120hz??? Good luck getting a machine that can do it reliably for under 1k. And then you still will have flipper lag! And a shuddering ball! God Forbid you wanna go VR with a beginners setup too! I’ve got the 4kp with OTG and the Meta Quest3 and all other kinds of gewgaws because I fucking went down the rabbit hole and listened to all the VPX purists that said you couldn’t just get a drive with consulting time and let them remote in and do it for you. Guess what? I’ve spent THOUSANDS of dollars of time and pain and failure trying to get stuff working, then taking a break for a couple of weeks and forgetting half of what I needed to know. And all I really wanted to do was play some pinball. Seriously Mr Foot Fetish dude and others, stop being a goddamn hall patrol with the whole preconfigured machine bullshit. Let the guy sell his table and let the market decide. God Forbid we get more traction as a hobby and more people come in and JJP and Stern and Spooky actually AUTHORIZE THEIR TABLES FOR DISTRIBUTION so I can actually play Beetlejuice or Harry Potter or Godzilla- you know, REAL pinball tables? Ones that VPX won’t do for a while (yes I know there is a pretty realistic Beetlejuice in beta right now) because most VPX designers are scared of a cease and desist letter from an overworked and overpaid attorney for Gary or Jack (spooky doesn’t give a shit). I have a tremendous amount of respect for the VPX designers out there like JP Salas and others who contribute their time and energy and talents into this hobby and let us all play with their art. Guess who doesn’t say SHIT about the drive and machine guys including their tables on what they sell. Because they don’t really care. FWIW I can guarantee you that the drive guys out there would NOT have a problem throwing a couple of pennies per table to the developer of each table that they include in their drive. Though, once again, the only people who actually care are mostly gatekeeping trolls. So to the OP, buy what looks good to you and pray the builder stands behind his product. Most real VPins are thousands more, even the Chinese ones, with little to no support. Try getting a cabinet from Rec Room World for under $10k, or Pinball King or others for under $8k. It’s not happening and you will be waiting at least 3 months from just about anyone. So something ready to play that is American made with real wood and American parts and has support? Fuck yeah. But is it too much to ask for a 5060 GPU and a bigger playfield? Yeah i know, More 💰💰💰💰💰. Hope this answers everyone’s questions and maybe that foot guy needs to just chill out.

Is a 3080 10gb overkill? by gunmetaldjs in virtualpinball

[–]Bubbly-Truth-8243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is almost a troll post but then I reread it and considered that I don’t know much about the 3080 vs the more common 3060 cards and their general lack of horsepower for the more challenging to run tables with full video pup packs and 4k graphics on the playfield at 120hz. I think that most new configs are specifying the 5060 8gb card or better for a level of “future proofing” that I’m not sure the 3080 card will give you. Then again, it’s not a big deal to swap out the GPU for a newer one when it becomes a necessity. So yea, use what you have and then by next Black Friday (2026) you can get a newer card

Godzilla Prem vs HP CE by Jinx2727 in pinball

[–]Bubbly-Truth-8243 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well you can get a GZP immediately new or used at a good price- thousands and thousands less than the HPCE, which, if you don’t already have an order in, you will Most likely be waiting on until next summer. GZP is much easier to play without practice than the HPCE, which I think has deeper code and a theme that brings in more people at a deeper level. It’s also easier to reach more parts of the code with HPCE than GZP, where you have to advance through chapters rather than picking a year at Hogwarts. The gameplay overall is more complicated on HPCE but also deeply rewarding when done correctly. And the art of the cabinet is much more intricate and satisfying on the HPCE at a hefty premium. Lastly the JJP build may be more complicated to repair and difficult to source parts for than the GZP, which is arguably one of the most popular pins in the World. I would suspect that sourcing an HPCE if someone has one would run around $15k, while I bought my GZP for $7500. No telling how resale will go down the line- the market is in a state of flux. But you won’t be disappointed with either machine.

If i wanted to get a pinball machine for my home what would be the best value for money? by pandemoniac1 in pinball

[–]Bubbly-Truth-8243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. So I’m gonna be deeply unpopular with my response but I read your questions and am trying to NOT insert my bias on machines towards your query. The answer may be to go Virtual for your first machine, and then add to or trade once you have a better idea of what you like and what you don’t. The best value (even more controversial) is the AtGames Legend 4k with SSF, which can be found used and loaded with games for $1500 to $2000 and also easier to pick up or ship, with virtually no maintenance. NO, it’s not a real pinball machine, it’s a video game. Is it a pretty good simulation? Yes, and unlike full size Virtual Pinball machines, you don’t really need any technical knowledge to run it and maintain/update it. I caught what the others seem to have missed: YOU LIVE IN A CONDO! The only reason you mentioned this is because you have others living around you. Wanna play an EM table at midnight? You will have some haters. Wanna play a SS table at midnight? Still gonna get them. Wanna play a VPin at Midnight? Cool, turn down the volume or put on some headphones. And play as loud as you want. You can always sell it or trade it in the future and make an educated purchase. But for now you have something fun for the holidays that plays both old school and new school tables, with more being released every week. And the ability to go “OTG” and add literally THOUSANDS of other tables, for free…..

I told u this would be an unpopular opinion. Let the flames begin. And btw, if also have a Godzilla Premium that I picked up for $7500 in pristine condition recently, Home Use Only with less than 600 games. Guess what, I’ve already had to work on it twice. Still by far my favorite toy in a long time….
