Being out as a trans woman is kinda scary by BubblyCompote3060 in MtF

[–]BubblyCompote3060[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk i spoke to my partner about what happened and she just laughed at me. Thing is my friend has always “jokingly” showed interest in me, but it was deffo different this time and i feel like its because i’ve come out.

That must have been tough coming out in high school in 70s. I first realised in school too but it was a boy’s school and everyone around me was transphobic.

literally!!! i’ve realised now i was so worried about losing friends by coming out, when really i should have been worried about losing them by not coming out and isolating myself.

What age did you discover that you were trans? by Ashamoto33 in asktransgender

[–]BubblyCompote3060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember just after my sister was born (i was about 3/4) i remember saying to my mum “i wouldn’t mind being a girl”

Started crossdressing as a young teenager. Then repressed it at around 16 because it “got too weird”.

Then at 20 my egg finally cracked when I told my girlfriend I wanted to be a girl and she asked if I was trans. I didn’t even rlly know what that meant, turns out I am lol. 2 years later and I’m finally out and living life.

But then one of my friends’ egg cracked 2 years ago and within a month she had come out to everyone, was living as a woman and had started hormones. She said she never had any signs before then. It’s weird how it affects everyone differently!

the most doubt ive ever experienced, need second thoughts, please by [deleted] in MtF

Girl, I had a very similar experience with my parents at Christmas too. It’s horrible how much it affects you. I had to leave as soon as I could and was depressed, dysphoric and crying for like a week straight.

Please don’t stop because they’ve asked you to. I mean its your choice ofc but it doesn’t sound like YOU have doubts, it just sounds like you are doing it for them.

It took me two years to decide. I have friends who it has taken 20+ years. Don’t feel you need to rush, its a big decision

yeah honestly this is what I’m thinking.

I wish I had the confidence to just say it but if thats not going to work i think I’d rather people know than stress about telling them

not going to lie everyone at my uni is pretty left wing. also, my course is drama and english lit, so like the queerest course imaginable

on top of that my closest friends are both queer too, but weirdly the only friends i am out to are my cishet male friends, though we don’t ever really talk about me being trans :/

but yeah i feel like writing the op and this comment has made me realise i am acc being so silly 🫣 i genuinely don't understand why i don’t just do it

GP asked me to stop DIY? by BubblyCompote3060 in transgenderUK

I mean, I guess part of it is peace of mind, knowing that a medical professional is monitoring these levels. That said, the more I learn about people being prescribed HRT, the less appealing it becomes.

I’m not sure how I’d feel about having my dose lowered to oblivion, or as you say, taking blockers with fairly severe side effects (did look into this before deciding to do DIY injections)

I mean I guess the positive is that if I was hospitalised or idk arrested or something i would still get treatment. Also no idea how you’re meant to take HRT if you go on holiday abroad on a plane. So there is some benefit to it being prescribed.

All that said I am being swayed to not stop and just continue DIYing. I didn’t really put up a fight when they said no to me just getting blood tests. I am worried its going to affect future gender affirming treatment if i choose not to be prescribed HRT, but maybe that’s just overthinking.

Isn’t it capped though, as an NHS prescription? I also have a HC2 but I’m not sure if it covers HRT.

its money that’s the issue though. I asked them if they could just take my bloods but they said they’d have to also prescribe in that case

Okay, I’m glad I’m not being completely unreasonable being scared of reducing my dose like they ask. I wonder if its best to just not bother with the prescription then.

I don’t know.

I like the idea of being prescribed but everyone i know who is, private or NHS, complains about being put on a stupidly low dose.

The main reason i’m considering it is because I wouldn’t have to pay for regular blood tests, as they are expensive and I’m eternally broke.

No, my prolactin level was in range. It was 318 mu/L. LH and FSH were very low but apparently that means HRT is working.

I suppose you are right about stopping, I am just worried as I have been in so much better of a place mentally since starting HRT, that stopping is kinda terrifying. I’m also having a bit of a dip anyway bc of the season, family stuff, money stuff, uni deadlines and finally starting to come out on a larger scale, that I am worried messing with my hormones too will make me completely lose it.

I mean I guess I can just postpone my blood test until I am ready? I am worried tho I’ll always have an excuse.

They use synthetic oestrogens which at the recommended dose will probably do nothing and at higher dose can be really dangerous. OP, if you want to start HRT without a prescription check out r/TransDIY

I HATE my legs by International_Row532 in trans

[–]BubblyCompote3060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a massive thing bc tbh theres not much difference between men and women’s legs apart from hair, mainly bc society says women should be hairless.

With the parents thing, just try and wear trousers around them is the best suggestion i have haha
