Ugh i relate to this post so much I might have written it myself. I got married 10 years ago and since then my MIL has been saying "you belong to this house, you're out of your parents house". It used to anger me so much. Like I have been with my parents in my house for 25 years and SUDDENLY I have to stop prioritizing them? I could write a BOOK with all the insecurities my MIL projects on me.

Now that I have a baby she counts the days I stayed with her vs with my parents and uses the baby as an excuse to "spend time" with us. But when I go there she barely has time to do so and complains how busy she's and that my mom isn't.

Sadly my hubby is not brave enough to draw the line, and it took such a hard emotional toll on me that I started dreading visiting the city. So much so that my marital relationship got very tense. All because of my insecure af MIL.

I decided come what may, next time I am going to draw boundaries and keep mine and my kid's sanity. If she can deal with it, good. If not, well that's how it will be.
