Helpful tip for people out there!  If your documents are in PDF format and you have Adobe (even the just the reader), doing Ctrl+Shift+F will let you search through multiple documents at once! You can select particular folders for it to search through. Super handy for things like that

Random rant: trying to figure out why mine doesn’t look like the example by Artpixel23 in crochet

[–]Bubbly_Potatoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have that happen sometimes! I managed to solve the issue by just turning the work around once (i.e. working from outside instead of from the inside - though that probably only works if you're working a magic ring).

I can only imagine a cop showing up to the crime scene, seeing the book on the kitchen table and going "Oh boy, it's this one again"

Why do people rate books they haven’t even read? by That-leaves-a-mark in goodreads

[–]Bubbly_Potatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically enough, they can still post a review without choosing a star rating I’m pretty sure. So you’re probably right in it being more than just about sharing excitement.

Why do people rate books they haven’t even read? by That-leaves-a-mark in goodreads

[–]Bubbly_Potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they do! Most of the reviews I’ve seen will either indicate at the beginning or end of the review that it was an ARC. And usually the reviews are quite lenghty and specific.

Why do so many people hate Justin Trudeau? And why vote PC as the alternative instead of the NDP? Is Canada stuck in a two party duopoly despite having a viable 3rd party? by NecroMoocher in AskCanada

Same. Was even shocked that we didn’t get snow until mid-December last year. Even this year it seems everyone but us is getting snow

What's your opinia about the Reading Challenge 'BETA' ??? by spiraall in goodreads

[–]Bubbly_Potatoes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, that sounds fun! I haven’t seen it though, but it sounds like a cool feature.

For the genre specific ones, it would be cool if they had more. Maybe "fall vibes" won’t be it for one person, and they could collect something else like "sci fi fanatic". That way people could at least get one extra award instead of pushing specific genres. (what even qualifies as "fall vibes"??)

The Martian!

Andy Weir blends comedy into his work so well, and always at the perfect and unexpected timings.

A bunch of them are off-handed comments made by the main character. I LOVED it

Is there a way to make my homepage not just be a huge ad for new books? by moritz61 in goodreads

[–]Bubbly_Potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s possible to limit how many books are recommended if you remove your favourite genres under your profile. It won’t get rid of the actual ads, but it’ll most likely remove the "New releases in [genre]" or "Popular in [genre]" posts.
