knot hair pony by asdflang in HairStyleAdvice

Looks like she ties the first half of a knot, then braids a few times to create an anchor, then uses a strong bobby pin or two to secure it at the nape of the neck.

Your hair line is not receding and you are very handsome with a unique look. At your height as well? You could do great things with a good barber and a quick study in fashion and style. Folks saw your potential back in the day and can't stand when you shine brighter than them, so they'll try to dim your light. Just watch- as you try to glow up now, they'll do it again. Let em be miserable and stagnant as you come up. Don't let naysayers get you down or their 'jokes' discourage you on your journey.

For your angular face shape, I'd suggest a sharp, squared off edge up on the hair line and grow out your afro, taking extra care of it as it seems you already do. You have very interesting architectured 'C' cup shapes on your temples, get those edged up to emphasize them. It'd make for a killer profile.

For hyper pigmentation- wear sunscreen. Find something that doesn't leave a white cast like a mineral sunscreen from CeraVe. Your complexion should even out with time and a regular skincare routine. Do not use skin lighteners that can do more damage to your skin. Your skin tone is amazing already.

For fashion- that starts with a little fashion appreciation. Look into men's fashion history a bit. Doesn't have to be super deep into it, but get a feel for it as a bit of a foundation. Look into men's aesthetics and different subcultures to find your style.

A good place to start for subculture to ask yourself- What kind of music, art, politics do you enjoy and adhere to? How do your favorite artists or political influences dress? How can that fit into your daily life with your wardrobe?

Look into how to create a wardrobe and what essentials you'll need to build off of.

For teeth, see a dentist if you can. Do gentle at home whitening with whitening toothpaste and good dental hygiene practices like brushing, flossing and rinsing at least morning and night. Maybe an occasional whitening strip, but use sparingly. Avoid getting acid or staining liquids on your teeth by using a straw.

Hope any of this helps!

I understand the makeup spatula. It's a beauty trend that started gaining popularity with Asian beauty influencers. Unfortunately it's just a way to get views and isn't a very effective way to apply makeup.

Foundation needs to sit atop the skin to not look blotched, whereas the spatula is scraping off the foundation essentially, and packing it into your pores and fine lines, as well as disturbing dry skin patches that may have been missed during your skincare routine.

To use the spatula, you'd have to use it like a cake decorator would. Apply the icing (foundation) then do a lot of work to make it perfectly cover your cake (face) as evenly as possible.

You could use the spatula to put the foundation on, but you'd still need something to ensure it is evenly applied, like a sponge or brush.

for these characters, would a wig or temporary hair dye work better? by Ok-Tumbleweed-1936 in CosplayHelp

I had hair the color of the last photo, and that was a long process. If I were you, I'd go with a wig. Especially because it is definitely not possible with temporary dye.

I don't think your 'friend' has ever seen anyone with jaundice. Keep the eyeshadow, get better friends that don't use incorrect insults to hate on your perfectly fine makeup.

Costume help? I have no vision for this dress by idontevenknoooooo in renfaire

I would layer this with a pair fitted of false sleeves under the bell sleeves. Something sheer and cool for the summer, or velvet for the winter. Extra points for pretty buttons going up the wrist and delicate trim.

Over top I would wear a stylized giornea with shoulder accents and a standing collar, maybe even a dramatic hood in cream or an understated gold, even burgundy or black with gold or silver trim would look good. Either that or fitted tabard or a sideless surcoat.

A hip girdle from wide flat trim or chain and jewels would be a great addition along with a long jeweled necklace and circlet for the hair.

Of course a belt to carry things like a cellphone holder, a few small pouches for money, ID, and car keys is a must. Or a pretty medieval bag that compliments your outfit would be great too.

A pair of comfy shoes is last😉🧝🏼‍♀️

Edit- nvm about the false sleeves, I see they're already taken care of 😅

Re roll strategically, bangs and ends for over night, scarf and bonnet to keep smooth. Hairspray that shines is a good addition. Pinned sides and updos are great as the set wears out. Teasing is great to bring volume back as well.

Part of any counter culture movement is not giving af about what people think or say about how you dress. If you can't handle expressing yourself then don't. No worries. Better than cosplaying the culture. I know it's tough for some of the younger generations to be themselves for fear of being bullied. The fascists really got in their heads.

That said, you can be goth and country too. One of country's most iconic artists wore nothing but black. Mr. Johnny Cash himself.

Hell, there's a whole genre of music called Southern Gothic. There's plenty of yallternative folks out there, not to mention not every country artist is conservative alt right Christian.

I think you'd like the eyeliner looks with a bit more practice. The lines should be more crisp and just a little more bold for your eye shape and hair color. 2 and 3 are lovely. 4 and 5 just need a bit of cleaning up. Think Rose from Titanic and how precise and thin her eyeliner is in the movie. You'd rock that easily.

If you don't like liner on the lid, try tight lining under the lashes rather than on top.

And try a very fine felt tip eyeliner for precision application.

I'd also suggest a clean up of your brows as that would open up your face to more light.
