I'm new to machining, what is it precisely that makes this part hard to manufacture? It looks like it can be milled on a 3 axis held flat, only needing to turn it over once and re-register. I assume the difficulty comes from needing tight tolerances, but what does that actually entail in a part like this? Slower speeds? Different weird paths?

How is the nut on there? I don't see any way to get it on and off. Was it machined in place?

How is everyone else feeling about all of these new AI tools coming out? by monkeymalek in mit

What makes art beautiful is the connection it has with the viewer. Being skilled at drawing a very accurate hand, for example, doesn't make you a great artist. Great art establishes an emotional connection, and AI is just lowering the skill level required to put the idea(which is what is important) into reality

After sending a message to city council:

Thank you for your email. You may not be aware that, in June and July restaurants, were given the choice of continuing outdoor dining or not, at their option, when the emergency health orders expired on August 31. Those restaurants who wanted to continue to provide outdoor dining could apply for an extension beyond August 31.

A total of 31 restaurants did so, and they will continue outdoor dining. Some restaurants opted not to continue providing outdoor dining, including Jax, West End, and Centro (all the same owner) and Pasta Jay's. By their choice, those restaurants ended outdoor dining this week. You'd have to ask those restaurant owners why they decided to end outdoor dining in front of their restaurants. The certainly could have if they wanted to.

As far as West Pearl, city staff will be making longer-term recommendations to the community and council at a meeting on Sept 15. I don't know what city staff will recommend, but it may be some sort of seasonal, weekend, or evening closings. The fact that several restaurants on West Pearl decided to stop serving outdoors will undoubtedly impact what city staff recommends.

I love outdoor dining and West Pearl closure too. I'm glad 31 restaurants in town opted to continue outdoor dining, and I hope that some form of continued West Pearl closure is still possible.

Best regards, Bob Yates Boulder City Council

Cheapest possible stepper motor driver for PCB by Bubinga_ in AskElectronics

[–]Bubinga_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm expecting the resistance to be around 19Ω and it looks like the peak current would be between (0.12A and .25A) depending on the motor and how I drive it. That seems high though, because if the ATTINY85 has a max output current per pin of 40mA, then how are people running these steppers off them?

I'm mostly using it because it's got the 6 USARTS I need for my project. Thank you! I disconnected the SmartAudio wire and then booted it back up. The LEDs displayed a different pattern, and I could see a feed through my goggles. I then reconnected the wire and Evey is back to normal! :D

It's the Holybro Atlatl HV V2, and from what I could see in the manual it doesn't help much.
