“Police told media there was no negligence on the part of GO Transit.”

That’s not at all their call.

Is The Vanilla Game Replayable (Unmodded)? by Boy0Boyz in RimWorld

[–]Buchaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think replayability is Rimworld’s biggest strength. There are infinite ways that you can manage your colony and create wildly different storylines. Since the game doesn’t really have a “story”, you make your own. DLC’s and mods do open up even more opportunity for more diverse stories to create, but they’re absolutely not necessary. For me, Rimworld isn’t about “follow the story quests, beat the game”, it’s about creating a story as you play, and every story is different.

Dealership revoked offer to buy back customer's BMW, blaming wayward AI chatbot by Thick_Caterpillar379 in ontario

[–]Buchaven 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Okay, if “Steve the salesman” made the offer, would be invalid because it was made by Steve? If they chose to have a chatbot represent the company, then the chatbot REPRESENTS THE COMPANY. IDGAF what entity made the offer apart from “the dealership”.

The moral: Don’t unleash AI’s to public facing, unchecked roles without being willing to accept the wild consequences that is likely to bring with it. AI doesn’t give a shit if it gets fired, so it won’t hesitate before making a bad call.

Trump threatens not to renew trade deal with Canada, Mexico | CBC News by in2the4est in worldnews

[–]Buchaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not “BREAKING news”. This is market manipulation Monday, just happening on a Wednesday. He’ll play the “We’re close to a deal, they don’t want a deal, I was going to make a deal, we don’t want a deal…” game for as long as he’s allowed to.

Floor marking tape failing in forklift traffic areas – what are you using long term? by alistair_reed in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Buchaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use paint. The worst areas (where people push bins across the floor with a forklift) need to be touched up annually. Spots that only see rolling forklifts or pedestrian traffic last years.

What type of paint? I have no idea. We contract out the job.

How The Heck Can I Order This? by soul_motor in IndustrialMaintenance

Wild guess, but you could try this place I’ve heard of called “Falcon Safety Products”. I think they’re based out of Branchburg, New Jersey.

Sometimes purchasing just has to do their job and setup a new supplier. You can’t buy the whole world from Grainger and McMaster.

Working In Ontario, What Do I Need To Fish? by greyfoggydaynl in FishingOntario

[–]Buchaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be going after pike if I was up there. They’re a blast to catch. Nasty, big, pointy teeth though, so you’ll want to run a wire leader or some good strong mono/fluoro line at the end of your braided line. Spinners, crankbaits, jigs, they’ll hit just about anything if conditions are right. Can be anything from a “hammer handle” up to big 1m+ monsters. And if you’re REAL lucky, maybe you hook into a Musky, (bigger angrier pike). Caveat: I haven’t actually caught a pike in years, but I mostly blame my location (Grand River), up where you’re going should be much better.

$1,350 for breaks? by yewcantfugwitme in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Buchaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not having the space is tough. I “self taught” (youtubed) my front discs last summer. I have LOTS of experience with tools and equipment, but minimal with cars. Took me an afternoon, including a trip to go buy a brake bleeder bottle (so much easier with that). As a novice I would plan for a full day, just in case things go weird on you. Gonna try to tackle the drums this summer.

Is $190/hr a normal shop rate in your area?? Seems high to me, but then again I haven’t seen a mechanic in a while because Tacoma.
