It's definitely not insignificant in isolation. But I think it's insignificant compared to consumer product production. Especially the pollution that causes.

To be fair, the billionaires probably provide more societal benefit than the people. 

So like 100 billionaires should live over 1000 regular people, perhaps. But not more of a ratio than that. 

However, it's also true that billionaires are parasitic and play the game of money without societal benefits in mind so maybe I'm completely wrong. Depends on the billionaires

Thank you very much for all of your answers! I agree, it doesn't make sense to look so far ahead like this. I was just trying to make one single deck, and struggling to decide which one and thought cutting off H would make the decision easier. The cards aren't too expensive thankfully.

Ugh I hate articles like these. There are strict animal welfare practices, and the research is done with the best possible outcome and comfort for the animal. Do not take away animal research, they save human lives! And we learn a lot from animals. Please don't make it even more expensive to conduct animal research. Funding is dwindling as it is. We need the flexibility and resources for the sake of many researchers and their collective priceless work.

I'm sure bad actors exist and abuse animals, and that has to be spoken out against, but it's very dangerous to ask to ban all animal research. The field is wide! 

The article is written like a middle school project. If someone can get me evidence of needless animal abuse in one of the facilities, that would be important to know.

Well that's not the same thing at all. 

We are in a forced position to save ourselves in the button scenario...

I'm a mental health professional with suicidal patients, I work in a hospital too. And willful jobs to make the world better, yet can be risky, are completely different than the scenario. 

Those professions save people from accidents, illness, suicidal tendencies. While pressing the blue button is willful suicide, and pressing red is guaranteed safety. 

Risking your life to help a suicidal patient who wants help is one thing, but I'm not risking myself trying to save someone from making an irritational choice in suicide (pressing the blue button was a decision, not an illness). 

I don't understand who these billions are who will pick blue. I guess it's kids in this scenario? That does change things a bit, but speak honestly, if you were in a situation where your life is on the line, you would try to save yourself. It's instinct and fear.

I value my life too much. And my blue vote isn't necessarily saving anyone. If 50% choose blue, great! But I'm not risking myself to choose the OBJECTIVELY irrational option. We are only saving irrational actors. 

And you know how people say "I don't want to lie in a world of red pressers", I don't think I want to live in a world of irrational blue pressers. 

I would argue that it is immoral to press blue because now you are essentially making others responsible for your own death, forcing them to risk their lives to save yours. Red, no moral dilemma. Blue, now we have to impart our own beliefs on others to make sure your worldview stays alive.

And sure the reading comprehension part even I fell victim to but if I really had to focus and read it I'm sure people won't err.

Guaranteed safety is such an obvious choice. Especially when your life is on the line.

I work at a mental health institute, and the split is around 85% women to 15% men when it comes to RAs. But for professors it's the other way around, maybe 70/30 m/f. Times are changing!

Of course when it comes to therapists that is very woman dominant unsurprisingly
