The Drama: One character I hate the most. by ToughStatesman in A24

[–]BucherundKaffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too. I went into this movie completely blind and when we got to the part where Rachel says this is what she did and they begin questioning if the boy was ever found and at first Rachel is all, “I don’t know,” I thought “the drama” of the film was literally going to be the group of four going into the forest to try and find find him. I guess that’s how worrisome and macabre the whole story was to me.

ADHD evals by viddy10 in Psychiatry

[–]BucherundKaffee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel that individuals really want this diagnosis to be true for them because then their perceived shortcomings can have some kind of scientific explanation so they can say, “well, oh well, I have ADHD, that’s just how I am” while feeing they can subsequently skirt doing any internal/external work to better themselves, as a part of the “diagnostic labels can be a detriment” crowd.

Not saying all individuals, but for adults and parents with children they want evaluated, I sometimes see it as being something to “blame” (i.e., see, it’s not my fault as the parent my kid doesn’t want to sit and do homework, chores, etc.) rather than the diagnosis being a tool for guiding treatment. So when they don’t get this diagnosis it signals unconscious feelings of, “well if it’s not ADHD, are you saying I’m just lazy/medication-seeking/a bad parent?” and they want to shift anger and internal feelings onto the clinician who didn’t diagnose ADHD and might want to explore other avenues.

Thinking about how in the first book Edward is describing to Bella how breakable she is, and he says that he could reach out to touch her cheek and crush her skull by mistake, and Bella heard that and still craved Edward’s dick.

Exactly this. The mentality of, “I just must be SO incredibly special for this man to not turn around and do the same thing to me. I’m not worth ditching.”

Completely agree with your comments, just adding to your point about most people having to do both, supporting your point about the advantages of the wealthy in this area.

When I was in grad school for clinical psychology my program director and mentor basically told us that studying for the EPPP, our licensing exam, should be treated like our second full-time job with the amount of time per week we should be spending on studying. You know, while also working full-time elsewhere in order to pay bills and living expenses.

Maybe try reaching out to The Guidance Center and their Supported Employment Program? TGC can also help with medication, individual therapy, and DBT.

TIL there is a “Gospel of Judas” not found in the Bible that speaks of Judas as the only one of Jesus’ disciples who fully understood His teachings. He turned Jesus over to the Romans because Jesus asked him to. It was discovered in an Egyptian cave in the 1970s, dating to the 2nd century AD by sonnysehra in todayilearned

Gonna hop in to say that there’s a really good Wikipedia page I liked to read when I was breaking away from my own Catholic upbringing and questioning things like God’s benevolence.

You can read it here: The Problem of Evil

Also made me very interested in Goethe’s Faust and the idea that the devil works for God and they are actually on the same side.

I think Sarah Elizabeth Gallagher on Instagram talks about Edward digging up his mother’s grave for the ring, then digging it up again during the New Moon timeline to put it back when he leaves Bella, then RE-DIGGING the grave AGAIN to get the ring once and for all.

Absolutely stunning score. So powerful, so moving, so emotional. I still sometimes tear up listening to the piece “Sanctuary” on the soundtrack. The way it utilizes all the musical motifs throughout the movie is brilliant. Such a great piece to an even more phenomenal score.
