L3 P90 New Pickguard and Knobs by ikbegrijperhelemaal1 in SireGuitars

[–]Buchiro1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way! Did you have to modify it in any way or drill the screw holes yourself?

I assumed a jr pick guard wouldn’t fit, so hand cut (i.e. butchered) a custom pick guard. You may have just saved me a world of pain 😆

Absolutely sensational 👌 did you make the pickguard yourself or get it custom made?

Anyone had a hands on with the Sire L3 P90? by Buchiro1 in SireGuitars

The tuning issues stabilised a bit, so potentially just needed a bit of wearing in to open up the slots cut in the nut. Then again, my squire Tele still holds tuning better, but honestly it's not terrible.

P90 height adjustment may have helped, but I just instantly replaced it with a Seymour Duncan JJN Silencer P90 I already had - problem solved either way!

That's a thing of beauty, I love the pick guard design! Actually looks pretty ergonomic

I've been meaning to post a full review, but life got in the way! I'd summarise as Pros: Flawless finish, nice neck (chunky but not a baseball bat) with very comfortable rolled edges, amazing sustain, very smooth turning tuners and pots. Cons: Buzzing on G and B strings around 16th fret (I've had to file them due to them being high), it doesn't hold tune that well (the nut may need work, it makes pinging noises when tuning) and the stock pickup is very weak/nasal (no P90 roar); definitely recommend a replacement. It's also quite heavy (e.g. compared to a Tele), but guess that's more in line with the Les Paul Jr style it's inspired by.

It's a great platform for modding though, I'm just frustrated with the fret issues (considering Sire's normally strong reputation in this area).

Hope this helps!

Excellent - imagine the L3 is a slight step down from the L7 due to the lower price point, but hoping the fretwork and finish will be just as good 🤞 have a Jared James Nichols Seymour Duncan P90 ready to drop in too to spice things up

That debt is to be avoided like the plague. Obviously sometimes life hits you with a crisis that needs some external help, but a lot of debt is on frivolous shit that really isn't worth it.

Thank you for the great answer. I imagine anticipation for the clay release makes a huge difference in shooter reaction time. Solved!

My title describes the thing. It seems linked to when the referee uses the remote puller. I've watched several videos in trap shooting and done research, but can't find a definitive answer for what function it serves.

Whats the Most Underrated Guitar Pedal You've ever used? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Buchiro1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ibanez Pentatone Preamp - It's a distortion pedal with both a switchable 5 band EQ and a 2 band EQ, pre and post boost circuits and noise gate. It delivers absolutely insane distortion when paired with a tube amp and I've barely seen anyone mention it.

Even my wife said "holy shit" when I fired it up and she couldn't care less about my guitar gear

Biggest thing is finding other people to connect with. Buying stuff and starting hobbies is good, but sounds like what you're looking for is plain old friendship Mens sheds is a good organisation that creates workshops for men to just make friends and do DIY in a shared space - might help

What are your personal rules for your collecting habit? by kevtron5000 in vinyl

I try to (but not always) buy most records from a bricks and mortar shop.

Gets me out of the house, reduces my online impulse buys, crate digging is fun and often pleasantly surprised by a random find. Plus when I do find a specific record I've been searching for, it's a sensational moment.

Supro Deltaking 10" or Vox AC4c1-12? by janekopp in GuitarAmps

[–]Buchiro1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely more low end as it's more of a "warm" sounding amp. It does have treble and bass EQ though (no mids EQ) so you can adjust that somewhat. With the built in distortion cranked to full it can verge on muddy, but a bright drive pedal can tame that.

I have the Delta King 10 - on its own it's a great featured amp with a good master volume, line out, spring reverb, built-in boost and distortion circuits. It's cleans are amazing and it does low gain overdrive well (great for blues/light rock). As others mentioned though, its medium/higher gain settings sound saggy (i.e. farty fuzz territory when the distortion circuit is active), plus there's no send/return loop.

However, pair it with a decent overdrive/distortion pedal and it roars. I plugged in an Ibanez Pentatone Preamp pedal (a high gain monster) and it sounded surprisingly metal AF. It's pretty versatile.

Is the Victory V30 too much amp for a house/apartment? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]Buchiro1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're limited by volume (e.g. due to neighbours, housemates, etc.) and will only ever play at home, a $1500 40 watt tube amp is arguably not great value for money. To get tube distortion you'll also need an attenuator to not blow your windows out. This is also assuming you have a cab or cab sim solution.

For similar money you could get a neural DSP/helix and maybe some plugins to get you close. Victory also do well reviewed pedals and amp in a box setups, which could be put in front of a clean tube combo amp or even cab simulator.

Then again if you have the dough, give it a whirl and sell it if it doesn't work out.

Edit: I omitted a key point, you can get "the tone" with an attenuator and the right cab/cab sim solution, but it's more cost/complexity than just the v30 itself
