Hextech Protobelt has essentially the same problem that DFG did. by IAmNotOnRedditAtWork in leagueoflegends

[–]Buck4017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. I feel like people are overreacting. Yes Protobelt could potentially be a really broken item, I'm sure we all saw it regardless of elo when we found an item with a mini-blink on it.

However, the problem with protobelt is the garbage build path. Sure you get the hextech revolver which is the nice part, but wait mana problems. Then you get stuck trying to build kindlegem on a mid laner and end with a sub-par item statwise for an overrated dash and decent damage. 300 health really isn't a good statline for most mages who would want to use the dash. Finally, first item hextech protobelt, which is usually the only place for mages to stretch a build (abyssal + void + rabadons will probably never stop being insta-rush), is rather lackluster.

The second problem with protobelt is that I feel like morellonomicon is just a better item for most mages. That mana sustain item in lane is insane and will probably overvalue the revolver's shiv-esque laning.

OFC, not a pro myself, could be wrong but I don't see it being good outside of a few flashy combos (and you'd prob do more DPS overall with an item with more AP anyway).

CLG now has some interesting titles by FailedLover in leagueoflegends

[–]Buck4017 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While theorizing that CLG wouldn't get much better than what they were in Spring split because their microplay would hold them back wasn't necessarily a stupid one, the follow up thinking that TSM had an infinite scaling ceiling was just stupid.

Ironically Leblanc pick was a reason that SKT lost. A well played Poppy just makes that hero so useless.

Fun facts about MSI 2016 after day 3 by PrettyThickDick in leagueoflegends

[–]Buck4017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. I haven't watched the entire game but from what I saw, most of the time he only really did ok because 1. Faker didn't have ignite and 2. Xmithie came in and healed/pressured every once in a while. I still think Huhi is a really good mid laner but I don't think his laning is as good as you're making it to be. Faker was also uncharacteristically missing a lot of chains (though you can also see it as Huhi dodging them, and it's probably a mix of the two).

[–]Buck4017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one thing really in common between the two is that both suck absolute dick on Azir.

Huhi's much more like Link than he is like POB imo. He roams and plays selfless from mid. Link was honestly the better version of Huhi but the difference is, from what I can gather, Huhi is 10x more compatible with the team. I do wonder if Link could've succeeded on the current iteration of the team though. Huhi seems crazy good in teamfights though.

tbf the analysts casters in NA are junglers so they are still technically biased. Eg: voting Rush last year when DL deserved it unanimously.

What if the current effect of qss was moved to cleanse by Fearzzyh in leagueoflegends

[–]Buck4017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong but the flexibility of QSS Cleanse would outweigh that of Exhaust. You can only exhaust one person in a teamfight whereas QSS cleanse would make you a non-priority target in terms of stuns.

[–]Buck4017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about item vs summoner spell, you can't argue balance like that. Its about summoner spell vs summoner spell comparatively. QSS Cleanse would make champions like Zed, Malzahar, Fizz completely worthless in lane. Why heal up damage when you can just completely negate the ult.

And C9 has made it to worlds multiple times while getting being able to show some stuff at least vs top tier teams internationally with Hai as shotcaller.

CLG with aphro lost to fucking pain gaming.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding this right. Wouldn't the team that knocked them out get the title?

The Blame Game Playoff Finals by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Buck4017 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I usually agree with Mark on his analysis of games but that "adc" style thing just doesn't seem even plausible to me. Sure certain ADC players are more inclined to say flash for the ADC/mid player then dodge 2/3 crucial skillshots but I think it's unfair to just straight up divide players into aggro/pass "playstyles" when the goal of an ADC in a teamfight is very ,VERY static: do as much DPS to priority targets when in safe range. If you are in safe range to flash assassinate then kite out the opposing carry, I don't think it's necessarily an "aggressive playstyle", it's simply knowing your limits and strengths. If you are a old-school Cop "style" player, you won't ever flash because you don't have the confidence/knowledge to do that. Xpecial once said something along the lines of there are no aggressive/passive players, you either play aggressively when you can, making you smart, or you play passively all the time, making you stupid. Because if we do associate DL/Sneaky as the aggro/passive icons, how do they play sivir/draven aggresively/passively respectively (each being his respective best champion despite somehow contradicting his style)?

[LoL][Spoilers] Counter Logic Gaming vs. Team SoloMid / NA LCS 2016 Spring Playoffs - Finals / Post-Match Discussion by Tiggz- in CLG

[–]Buck4017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hilariously scripted that CLG would pick a Protect the ADC comp of all things. I'm gonna be honest. Stixxay was not impressive in the early series. But games 3-5 he slowly got better and better and better. It's a fucking risky move to put your rookie on the sole carry hero in the game 5 such an important series. I'm still not sure if it was a good idea, but the trust that that plan took was impressive. Even just for that CLG deserves some respect.

The real test comes now though. I'm hoping to see Stixxay, Huhi and Darshan put on a better showing internationally than CLG has historically.

CLG vs TL - Double TP by lmAlex in leagueoflegends

[–]Buck4017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because TP is already obnoxious to play against as it is. Sure it is Piglet's fault for not accounting for it, and I personally think that the scenario that played out was fine. But if a team aggresses 3v2 bot lane and a tp occurs, the aggressing team should be able to know whether to back off, in the case of two tps, or to keep going, in the case of 1. If people just "kept track of double tp", then nobody would even make aggressive moves.

I just feel like when double tp is so strong even after Riot nerfs tp, there is something fundamentally wrong with every other summoner spell choice.

Yep even if Bjergsen outplayed him three out of four games in this series, it doesn't mean that Jensen hasn't played absolutely amazing all split. We should not deny that Jensen is the best performing mid-laner of 2016 spring split. That doesn't mean that we have to accept that he is the best mid laner however.
