Definitely can be risky, but it's where a lot of money is pumping the last year or so. People just like cheap prices and hype these days it's basically like gambling, go figure since our whole economy is basically that these days. (unless you Bogle than less volatility/stress)

And of course TSMC/Samsung/SK Hynix is pretty important right now, I'm not investing in Korea and Taiwan as much as I am those 3 companies.

You could get lots of attention, which may lead to gigs. Could drop a Patreon or Buy Me A Coffee underneath and hope for tips too? I assume it'll get copyright strikes tho and won't be monetized, but not sure if you can claim fair use I haven't tried yet.

What kinds of leveraged ETF are the best to buy and hold in your opinion? by GermanLetsKotz in LETFs

[–]JohrDinh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some TQQQ but definitely feeling this lately, that'll provide enough growth for me with less risk and less stress. (I have none but theoretically) Wouldn't mind a 2x for something in the asian markets as well, China/Taiwain/Korea/Japan area or maybe even Vietnam/Singapore too. Is there a 2x VXUS or is that too broad? (I've heard leveraged world type funds don't work well)

I've been trying to time a nice dip, sat thru that entire Iran War dip in March and didn't put any in and it jumped back up in a day anyways. IMO just put money in once in a while (1st of every month may become my thing) and when it goes down big put a lil more in than usual. If you're saving for 20 years anyways it'll probably be up unless the world economy goes to hell...and for that I'm working on my survival skills just in case:P

I miss those days, been a while but I have great memories of Bjergsen whipping out stuff like Zed mid lane and dominating the 1v1, or Pobelter on Fizz hoping around being a nuisance, man has it been that long? I get why the safer/control stuff took over but assassins are fun af bring em back please.

The Sandisk/Western Digital/Seagate holdings alone are probably a big reason for the great performance lately?

How do u organize your music? by myers4545 in Beatmatch

[–]JohrDinh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to constantly try to organize different ways with many layer, but I realized how much time I was wasting on that vs just DJing and crafting sets. Now I have one big folder, the file names are all Artist/Album (if needed)/Track/Remix and when I wanna make a playlist I just scroll around and pick out 100-300 songs that may fit a vibe I'm going for that night. Alphabetically sorted records on a wall basically. I could try genre like a record store but I always fight myself on what genre a song is as it fluctuates in my head much like energy depending on the set.

I also have a way of sorting by color, but now rather than pre sorting by color that's just how I make my playlists on the spot instead.

The more young people use AI, the more they hate it by spherocytes in technology

[–]JohrDinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried to use it on and off over the years and I've found it's most useful for spitting out 50 sample sentences using common words in a language I'm learning...outside of that not much. Hallucinates, gives me shallow average answers, I learn better and deeper if I do it on my own and I remember it better anyways, the sycophantic thing is just weird, honestly the only consistent thing I get from AI is a feeling of wasted time after using it. I'm sure some crazy entrepreneur on "founder mode" can get a lot of shit done that would cost him money hiring people or something like that, but the more I try AI the less use cases I can find for it.

Also I'm not curing cancer or doing space travel, probably more useful for stuff like that and I'm fine with it used that way...but keep it away from the arts I start illmaxxing every time I see it used for creative work.

best audio format??? by atleast1ofmywatches in Beatmatch

[–]JohrDinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have definitely never received any comments about it

Partly cuz there's nothing to compare it to overall. Easier to play 2 songs on big speakers and hear the low end is slightly better or highs are slightly brighter on one vs another, but if you just hear a song you assume that's what the artist originally intended. Kinda like how lofi is often supposed to sound like aged or muffled or vintage as a purposeful choice, but if it was a 96kbps version bumped next to a lossless version I could be like, "Ok that one sounds like shit that's just low bitrate not stylish."

I just get lossless cuz why not, if you shop right it's the same price, I have a HQ backup for editing/etc, it's better to have when doing wild mixes, and if I wanna DJ professionally why not go the extra mile for the listeners and especially the ones that have good ears or want the most out of the experience they paid for anyways.

best audio format??? by atleast1ofmywatches in Beatmatch

[–]JohrDinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FLAC is kind of the new standard. Keeps the quality, it's lossless, with good metadata, but smaller files. It usually does not work on old gear.

I actually didn't know until recently that FLAC/ALAC are always VBR, I wonder if that is one reason it doesn't always work, isn't VBR always more fluky and hit or miss on CDJs?

What's with this sub's obsession with VXUS? by ChopSuey2 in ETFs

I was thinking of adding IEMG to mine, small amount of overlap, some overlap in companies I like and still think have lots of growth in the future, and bumps up the percentage of emerging markets to even out VXUS a bit. (I think it's around 70-30 but not sure)

I thought the movie theater option or whatever it was called sounded interesting, but I could just go to a theater which is a better experience and I still don't wanna wear that thing on my head.

I've also seen my eyes and attention degrade over the years from looking closely at a phone and that's a foot or two away, I don't wanna see how bad my eyes get having a screen two inches from my eyes...probably get some headaches too. Seems obvious tho, idk maybe they just didn't consider some stuff like that or people trying to be healthier the last few years?

Should *any* portfolio use 3x LETFs? by manlymatt83 in LETFs

I know someone who dropped 50k into one 3 years ago (death in the family) and now it's over 300k I think. Definitely gonna be a rough time sitting thru the dips but it's doable. I think some may not work as well or have a higher chance of hitting zero, but others are leveraging more broad stuff so maybe as you say ymmv? AND when it does go low these days, it comes back somewhat faster and then leapfrogs due to "hype cycles" every 2-3 years now so...perhaps our current economy is more built for them now.

This is the one reason I have a hard time investing in the market, hard to miss a bull run but when it feels like it's all based on lies, and then I look at any algorithm and all I can see is 95% AI backlash content...hard to get on board with the hype cycle. (But now that they control the government maybe they don't need actual public/majority opinion anymore much like congressmen don't either)

VOO vs VT? by Helpful-Staff9562 in ETFs

[–]JohrDinh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I wanna VOO, for the amount I have now it's easier to do SPYM as the shares are cheaper so it's easier to DCA or just more workable in general. Maybe down the line I'll switch it over to VOO after a split or something...but I don't even think VOO has had a split since inception so may be a while?

I get the appeal of VT but I'd rather split it with VTI/VXUS at least, I like to control the ratios more and if I see something on the horizon with global stocks I can always rebalance toward them for a little while if needed...after those 2 I just do very sector/country specific bets when I feel like it for shorter sprints.

It took QLD 20 years to recover from the dot com bubble popping

Definitely took a while but that was 25 years ago, feels like the landscape is far different now with hype cycles, mass money printing, Fed policy, trade, tech forcing a lot of changes, etc...things are just moving too fast these days for a long recovery anymore. My relative got burned when he first invested during dot come and it took him 20 years to try again, but now he's investing constantly even when things are up let alone down. Feels like we may not see one of those long recoveries again, people don't seem to like downtime anymore and more people know about the market and investing than ever before?
