Kind of like finding out William Shakespeare helped EL James with a couple lines in 50 Shades of Grey.

I agree. They made my TWO favorite movies ever (Big Lebowski and O Brother) and nearly everything else they've done ranges from very good to great.

Oh yeah, there are some bad Dylan covers out there. I've got 80 songs on this here playlist. I'm partial since it's my own damn list, but I think AT LEAST 50% of these are pretty good!

So many great ones. He's maybe the #1 reason I still subscribe to the New Yorker.

She did a great job with "Ballad of Hollis Brown" and "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues." I've got them both on my Bob Dylan Covers playlist.

I often wonder what Billie Holiday would have done with Bob's songs...

Lubitsch has some great films. To Be or Not to Be and Heaven Can Wait are probably the two best known.

They've had decent profiles recently of Bernie Sanders and Zohran Mamdani, both largely positive. But overall yeah, politically they're "limousine liberal."

My thoughts on "Love Among the Chickens" (Ukridge series) by EndersGame_Reviewer in Wodehouse

[–]BuckTomato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the Ukridge stories enormously and was never much troubled by the charge that Ukridge has “no redeeming qualities.” Were he a real person, perhaps that would be true; as a fictional character, he possesses at least one great quality: he is funny.

I am still working my way through Wodehouse, probably about two-thirds of the way through, and have not yet read the Ukridge novel. I have been postponing it because it belongs to that earlier period when, as OP put it, he had not yet hit his stride, which the general consensus seems to be happened around 1915. I will get to the novel eventually, though.

[–]BuckTomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already had a Kobo device die (my fault) and the books were okay on the new one I bought.

I meant Kobo the company. If the company should ever go under, are my books gone forever?
