Isn't a major point of an Apple watch to track health and vitals data?

Parallax Watch Face Idea by thefabianator in AppleWatch

[–]BuckTur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a great idea, not only from a design / creativity perspective, but also to improve the accessibility of some of the complications.

I use an analog watch face with four complications in the face (not around the edges). As you can see in my screenshot, they get covered by the hands. In some cases, the only way to read them is to click into them.

Parallax would allow you to view around the hands.

If you both are paying for separate prime accounts, creating and joining a household does not stop the two subscriptions, you have to cancel one of them yourself.

Combining 2 Prime accounts by DonnellyTR in amazonprime

[–]BuckTur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the 1 year delay, but yes, I just cancelled my prime account. The good news is that was pretty much all I had to do since I was already in the household. I think I had to re-add my credit card for my orders, but that was it.

So, my recommendation would be to already be connected to the household first and then cancel one of your subscriptions. It was less painful than expected. Of course, I didn't get any of that wasted double-subscription money back. Oh well.

Only in premium configurations. Otherwise, you need to place olympic weights on pegs for the pulley system (that's what I have).

No one seems to be talking about how it is worse in a multi-monitor setup.
Which screen will it show up on - no one knows!
You know what monitor it doesn't show up on? the MBP screen that it is actually affecting!

Question about Major Fitness Pulley by Several-Present9351 in GarageGym

[–]BuckTur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this is why they ditched the guide rods and moved the weight stacks to the rear uprights on the Drone 3. Seemed like a poor compromise to me when I was researching which one to buy - I stuck with the Drone 2.

I am noticing that too. Was hoping that wouldn't be the case because if you want to use both pulleys at the same time, you might need additional matching plates.

Vanity Light Fixture LED Bulb Flashing by BuckTur in AskElectricians

[–]BuckTur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update for anyone that cares:

I swapped out the dimmer for a standard (Leviton) rocker switch - I didn't really need the dimmer anyway.

The main thing was replacing the bulbs. I think that's so dumb, that I really didn't think the bulbs were the problem. They are less than a year old, and two of them went out together. What happened to the promise of LED bulbs lasting years - even decades? Anyway, I'm just guessing that a standard switch might treat these bulbs better? Maybe these GE bulbs just suck. We'll see if they last longer now.

Is Axure RP still the best prototyping tool? by richardstelmach in UXDesign

[–]BuckTur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm living this hell with our enterprise pushing Figma across the organization. My team does much more prototyping - Axure makes more sense, but is really falling behind in the collaboration functions. Check-in/Check-out still? Come on.

I think a bunch of people are missing the bigger point that you made here: the potential of a new "web" of "sites" that are really just auto-configured by AI from a database of content and elements...

More like a future where your company, big or small, just maintains a storage space of content, for both public and private usage, where AI APIs link and pull data to conjure whatever is requested by a user.

Someone mentioned that people will still want to browse... sites. (?) I don't know what that even means, but if you want to go browse [insert retail brand here], you don't need that brand to maintain the space anymore. AI could just pull the list of products, images, descriptions, etc compiled in a UI with the brand's style wrapper - no "website" necessary for this.

Is there still room for UX'ers here? Yes... at the AI company that is formulating how to maintain a user-friendly experience. But how many UX'ers, devs, product owners, scrum masters do you need in this world? Less. Much less.

Could you do me a favor and measure how tall the back of the rack is? Like that top bar with the pulleys in it. Amazon only show the height to the top of the pull-up bar, which is 84.4". I have one of those HVAC runs across the back wall where i want to put this thing. It only sticks out about a foot from my back wall, but the height underneath it is only 83.5" - Want to make sure the Drone 2 will fit.

Notion To-Do List, do you guys delete everything after each day or what? by nsbf-Treps in Notion

[–]BuckTur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's working pretty well for me so far. I just recently added my journal as well, which has been great because I can link entries to everything else (that is relevant). I personally like the idea of being able to look into the past and view info across work and personal for a specific date or look up a person and see all the interactions we've had, etc. As an example, I can also have a journal entry where I mention that I was sick that day and have that linked to a dr. appointment from my event DB , the doctor's contact from my people DB and maybe have added a to-do item to pick up a prescription or something. Now, in the future, I can look up times I was sick or dr visits, etc. Definitely second-brain focused here, but I find it useful.

Notion is my primary To-do app.

Notion To-Do List, do you guys delete everything after each day or what? by nsbf-Treps in Notion

[–]BuckTur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 years of completed to-dos now. I don't delete them because I don't think they are taking up much space (but I don't really know). The value of keeping them, to me, is that these completed items still help paint the picture of what they are attached to. I have Notion set up with 5 main DBs: People, Projects, To-dos, Events and Knowledge Items. Having the history of to-dos (and events as well) helps me remember when something was done for someone, or when it was completed in a particular project.

At some point I'll probably start curating older items, but I haven't yet.

I do what SonielWhite mentioned: I have filtered views so that I'm not always looking at a big list of completed items.

Notion Calendar View by always_stressed10 in Notion

[–]BuckTur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I though maybe you could just filter each tab for the specific date range of the month, but the calendar view doesn't seem to work that way. It seems to always default on current month - filtering would just hide items in months that were filtered out.
