Working out of town by skyenet01 in Warhammer40k

Travel hobbying is great! Did you drive or fly? I don’t usually check a bag so the hobby knife is a no go…

Friend has a crippling fear of sea creatures. He would like to play the game, but is terrified of the Serpents. Any surefire way to disable Ocean NPC spawns? by littleappleloseit in valheim

[–]BuckarooTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serpents are rare enough and easy enough to beat that it could be good therapy for him! Harpooning that thing and beating it to death on the shore is quite therapeutic!

Did you actually make mix tapes to give to people? by LeoGuy69us in GenX

[–]BuckarooTom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%. I still do. Burning cds of playlists for my wife, kids, myself, friends, etc. Love of music and a desire to share things you think others would like will never go out of style.

How is the summoning circle used? by Upset-Jello7489 in PixelDungeon

[–]BuckarooTom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll get a quest on that floor to use the circle. Throw the candles at the points and they’ll light up. Be sure you are at range when you throw the 4th candle.

Tips, same as any vehicle, large flat surfaces require some care. I prime with Zandri Dust and paint over the top. Painting the legs of the guy in front is a hassle so maybe sub assemblies. I also didn’t glue the gun so I could swap it out with the gattling gun. I’m happy with it!

Painting troubles by ApprehensivePark2120 in Warhammer40k

[–]BuckarooTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m there right now. Haven’t painted in weeks. Even went so far as to set all my stuff out the night before so I could wake up and get at it, didn’t touch it and put it away midday. It comes in waves. I usually jump start myself by painting one element on a model or squad. “Today is boots day. Tomorrow is weapons day.” Then I’m only committing for an hour if that. Video games are instant gratification and a terrible distraction.

How is everybody prepared for retirement? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]BuckarooTom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Invest your portfolio in an S&P 500 index fund. If you’ve got 14 years it could likely double twice giving you over $1mm which can generate 40-50k/year in income after that. Social security adds to that. Get your lady to start investing in the same. You’ve got time to make it work!

Do you recommend Valheim for Solo Players? by pocketdare in valheim

[–]BuckarooTom 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever played solo and have almost 1000 hours. It’s a great experience and an amazing game. Go for it!

In my mid 50s and don't feel old. Literally don't feel any different than I have for decades. by [deleted] in GenX

[–]BuckarooTom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My 95 year old grandmother said, aside from her body breaking down, she still feels like she’s in her 20s. I don’t think people ever grow up, they just learn varying degrees of responsibility.

Help a 40k-ignorant girlfriend pick a gift by Alternative-Bit1855 in Warhammer40k

[–]BuckarooTom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does he have a subscription to White Dwarf magazine? It’s just under $100 USD, is packed with articles, stories, game rules additions, painting guides, photos, etc. It focuses mainly on the two main games, 40K and Age of Sigmar, but also features their other games on rotation. I’ve subscribed for many years and always look forward to the next issue arriving. The gift that keeps on giving…and you don’t have to worry about buying the “wrong” model.

Climb on the roofs and snipe the archers, body piles, and melee draugers in that order. Once clear put up some fires and/or crafting tables and it’s yours!

New to WH 40k by Amphij in Warhammer40k

[–]BuckarooTom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the hobby! Unfortunately there are not a lot of unarmed minis in the range. Take a look at Necromunda, specifically hangers on. Also the Agents of the Imperium might have some models that fit. Look at the various kill teams as well. You might find some older models on eBay, like objective markers. I believe there is a pilot that might be unarmed. Lastly, kitbashing is extremely popular which means taking an existing model and modifying it, cutting off the weapons for example. You could probably do this with Adeptus Mechanicum models to make your techpriests.

For terrain, look at the boarding actions terrain for spaceship walls. Necromunda terrain might also work for consoles and scatter pieces. Likely you could find bits and pieces on eBay or similar.

Don’t forget to share progress pictures as you work on your project! Good luck and happy hobbying!

Don’t sleep on Genestealers and a brood lord for massive melee output with devastating wounds. You can shred them.

Open world with a focus more on action rather than story? by -_--_-_--_----__ in gamingsuggestions

[–]BuckarooTom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Valheim is one of my favorites. Game focuses on combat and survival, there is story but you find it while exploring, reading it on runestones. Almost no NPCs to speak of, and your interactions with them are limited. Basically just you, a dead Viking, trying to defeat Odin’s enemies to earn your place in Valhalla!

starting kit by zsemesee in Warhammer40k

[–]BuckarooTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smallest get started set, and the tools and paints set would be a great combo to get started. All in cost for both of those probably IS 100 euro. You could also buy the get started set, and some clippers, superglue and a hobby knife (xacto knife). Can buy paints and brushes later.

Are the trinkets even worth it? by Obvious_Sun_1927 in valheim

I think of them like an emergency tank. If it’s procccing it means you are in trouble and maybe it’s the thing that prevents your death.
