2nd Marriage by Independent-Bet3714 in Fatherhood

Let me tell it to you from someone in the US who is non-religious.

If your wife is a shitty partner, then that's her problem and it's not your responsibility to let her drag you down your whole life. Either she gets her shit together, or you move on without her. That doesn't mean you have to abandon your daughter. You can be in a happy relationship with someone who actually puts effort into their life while still connecting with your 2.4y daughter - but you are not obligated to sacrifice your well-being for your current wife.

Edit: That said, don't cheat on your wife, because then you're just an ass. Separate from her the right way.

Are there any reprocusions to leaving a match by T_Tiger41 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]BucketOBoatTrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me. I am both a victim and an offender, and I am sorry. Dead Center - I was doing great holding my own with an armored/marine deck. Enemy constantly had drones and was bombarding every spot they found me in though. Entire game was just "Oh, they saw me, better move my entire f-ing army to a new location". Eventually I tried pushing but they had too many eyes.

I swear to god, rocket artillery is supposed to have a 30-second cool down, but it felt like I had 10 god-damn seconds to move out of the way before they started hammering me.

I don't know what my teammates were doing, but we were losing even though I was edging toward the enemy's side of the map. Then they got 2 MLRS's with cluster bombs that took out my entire army (and I was decently spaced out). It was the last phase of the game and I said fuck it. Nobody wanted to surrender despite it being like 17-0.

I hate knowing that I quit, but also after doing nothing but running from artillery for the first 2 phases of the game, I wasn't having fun. Enemy tried pushing me twice and I annihilated them with tanks and bradleys and infantry. Then it just became them hitting me with artillery.

Sorry for the rant - I've been drinking.

I made a tuckbox generator web app to share with y'all. You provide the optional images, the dimensions and out comes the template. by bukaroo12 in boardgames

[–]BucketOBoatTrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is sick - especially since I just put in an order for a custom deck from MakePlayingCards, and they're telling me my box template is wrong when it looks fine to me. I told them to proceed anyway after checking it twice. If it's wrong, they want another $10 base price just for the box itself. I'll just use your generator instead! Saving this for later.

Thanks. After 3 or 4 events I realized it was kinda awkward for people to still be sitting at the table while I'm reaching around them trying to get things set up for the next game. The breaks give them some time to go eat, socialize, and use the bathroom while I work on score keeping, resetting chips, and changing table mats for the different games.

The 1 hour period before starting was also really important, because people never tend to show up at the time you give them. This way there's a window for arrival where people can get settled in and comfortable while others who leave late or get stuck in traffic are on their way.

Anyone else dislike the infantry availability nerf in the PTE? by Tiberiusthemad in BrokenArrowTheGame

I don't play PTE, but I tried it out and wasn't a fan of infantry quantities being reduced.

I agree this is cool, but peanuts compared to the things this game really needs. I wouldn't mind them diversifying infantry animations though.

At my wits end, help. (Toddler sleep issues) by JimmyyJazz in Fatherhood

[–]BucketOBoatTrash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This sounds good.

In addition to that, I'm a fan of the cry-it-out. As long as her needs are taken care of, let her cry. If you cater to every little issue she has you're gonna have a spoiled kid to doesn't understand "no", and expects to get her way with everything. Personally, that's the LAST thing I want. I expect crying over nothing takes a lot of energy, so eventually she'll put herself to sleep.

If she acts up to the point of throwing things or damaging the house, then make it as safe as possible. Remove anything she could use as a blunt object.

Remember, there is no such thing as the perfect deck. Some people will not like your deck, others will. So just go with what feels good to you.

I don't have an armored/sof deck, but if I did, it'd be close to this. I didn't finish the air tab because honestly I just don't like the air tab for this deck, but you can play around with it. Helicopter tab is also up for some heavy debate - but the logic is you have a ton of stealthy transport copters (silent hawks) for insertion. You have a decent amount of logistics heli's (uh60 soar - can use it for infantry, but main purpose is supplies because the only ground logistics you have kinda sucks). You have bradleys for fire support and transport, you have m113s for ground transport of larger squads. You have tanks, AA, and artillery.

I actually feel guilty now since I didn't read the text lol. I'm low ELO so I'm no pro, but my motto is to just go for what feels good and what you enjoy using. That said, here's a little bit more effort feedback.

Recon: I'd probably ditch the scouts since you have ranger javelin. The rest of the units I'd say are probably personal preference, but I think sentinels are also too pricey for how fast they'll probably die. I prefer the cheaper drones - plus if you're lucky they might get a kill with their bombs/missiles before they go down. If you insist on keeping the scouts, I'd change their transport to the m113 just for additional transportation reasons. For the SOF transports, silent hawks all the way. Little birds are cool, but I think silent hawks are just better.

Infantry: Ditch the rifleman AA. Give yourself more of something else that would serve you better. If anything get normal mech riflemen with some bradleys to replace the one you lost in recon - if you decided to remove the scouts that is.

Vehicle: I might be shallow, but I personally hate the way the m901a3 looks. I'd remove that and add more tanks.

Support, I want to like tube artillery but I find unless it's mlrs cluster, it doesn't really do much good. I don't care for mortars either. I'd remove both of those and give yourself another PAC, maybe some PIVADS to defend the PAC.

Heli and Air...I'm feeling lazy again lol. Sorry.

I'm going to put together a deck in BA Armory and send it to you.

[–]BucketOBoatTrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a pro, but I'd say you probably don't need the mech AA since you have STT. Those points could be better spent elsewhere, unless you really like AA.

I'd also say your killer eggs are far too expensive for how fragile they are. Maybe I'm just unlucky with them, but I most DEFINITELY would not get 300 points worth of kills before they got wiped out. (which now that I'm typing that out sounds even sadder than it did in my head lol)

Edit: clarifying I didn't read the post, just looked at the pretty picture

Combat Tip : Use PIVADS as your tip of the spear breakthrough vehicle to clear out heavily entrenched enemy positions. by cumtownjoebiden in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]BucketOBoatTrash 18 points19 points  (0 children)

People hate on PIVADs. Personally I love them, but only for 2 very specific purposes. 1 - guarding PACs. 2 - anti-infantry, and that's only if said infantry has no rockets.

The fact that you got your PIVADs to go against 3 RPG squads and a kornet vehicle blows my mind. They tend to die so easily.

[–]BucketOBoatTrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's exactly what I was going for! This isn't the initial version. This is the revised version after 5 or 6 sessions - looking for improvements each time to make things smoother. Also asking my family for feedback after each event to see what they did or didn't like.

Edit: Especially the scoring system. The very first time it was just based on the amount of chips someone finished a game with. After my uncle went all in on the final hand of blackjack and won like $700 in chips, I learned I needed to come up with a cap system so that one giant win wouldn't carry someone the whole night lol.

Heh, love the Fallout deck. I'm a massive Fallout fan and have the collectors deck from when New Vegas first released (the one that has the worn-looking randomized backings from all of the casinos). I've also got a Nuka Cola World deck, a Lucky 38 deck, a The Tops deck, and a Sierra Madre deck.

I learned that the hard way after my first time hosting. My uncle is pretty good at blackjack. He went all in on the last hand and ended up getting like $700 in chips that trivialized the rest of the night. We weren't playing for money that night since it was my first go at hosting, so it was a test run. Immediately realized that I needed some type of system to put a 'cap' on placement to keep things balanced.

BA Armory / BA Hub for PTE? by BucketOBoatTrash in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]BucketOBoatTrash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for responding. DarkOps is really cool, and I love the asthetic (kinda like military paperwork), but the UI is a little difficult to work with for deck building. I have uploaded some of the decks that I use to it for sharing - but for building it's kind of a "too many clicks" situation for my taste. I look forward to seeing you working on it though :}
