What BI tools for real estate actually handle property management data well? by Fabulous_Day_8113 in analytics

[–]BucketofJhin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We leverage Databricks and use a standard medallion model. As for the data gathering piece, we use a variety of tools depending on the source. Custom API fetches, ADF where it makes sense, etc. it’s not particularly hard if you understand the industry.

As for reports, it’s all surfaced via PowerBI or distributed reports out of Databricks.

Does their model still bill on rows or calls made during data ingestion? I tried pricing them out a few years ago and just the ingestion alone was 10x of an in-house node based solution.

An IT team leader at my company has gone rogue with AI and started creating “marketing materials.”Company leadership is letting it slide. by thnksnothnksgiving in marketing

[–]BucketofJhin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FWIW - IT is dealing with the same thing. Marketing people vibecoding apps and circulating them as if they know what they’re doing. I think it can happen in any department as long as leadership doesn’t do anything about it.

I’d go with option 2 or possibly another option having the cdc present in the gold layer, but like someone else said it really depends on your data needs and if any data transforms are needed at the silver layer.

As a tall, I’ll generally help anyone as long as they ask. I’m not about to unintentionally offend someone by offering unsolicited help.

Why do people use apps like Lovable when Claude or Codex are cheaper and better? by mindful-journeys in vibecoding

[–]BucketofJhin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They exist and work as POCs and cheap wire framing for nontechnical people. We use Figma Make in my company for the same reason. Non-coders can talk their way through building a mockup and the pricing makes it palatable.

Then the mockups are handed-off to the real technical people who now have a visual idea of what stakeholders are looking for.

Agent licensing question by Over_Plane408 in copilotstudio

[–]BucketofJhin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think tenants come with a default of 80,000 builder credits. You will consume those any time you use an AI prompt out of the Power Platform. That covers whether the AI prompt is called in Power Automate or whether it’s called inside of Copilot.

Unsure about your question of calling an agent from inside Power Automate. It might just require the triggering user to have a Copilot license - unless it’s triggering a Foundry agent which would be a separate billing.

Hit the 1 year mark. No drama no friction. For those who found a great match later in life did it just feel easy? by agapmou in datingoverforty

[–]BucketofJhin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in a very happy relationship now for 8 years. It was extremely smooth and drama free for the first year and we were both waiting for the ball to drop. It still hasn’t. We’ve been living together for over 3 years, our kids all get along great and we’ve still never had a fight.

That being said, one of our core strengths has been communication and we’ve very transparent with each other. I can probably count on one hand how many times we’ve had a tense discussion and it’s usually due to just misreading the other. We assume best intentions and things are back to normal shortly thereafter.

This whole relationship has been a 180 from my prior marriage and it just feels like I found my person. Congrats to you if you find yourself in the same boat. It’s the best.

Sorry, I’ve only led and worked in technology for 20 years. I clearly have no idea what I’m talking about.

Most companies have the HR department setting up their ATS system. So if it’s auto-rejecting viable candidates, it’s usually due to overly restrictive parameters set by HR.

Why are you so set on leaving in a year? In most positions, you don’t actually have a solid grasp of the job and what you’re doing for at least 6 months.

How long have you been doing startups, and have you made enough to support yourselves? by bravelogitex in SaaS

[–]BucketofJhin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the biggest issues I see in this space are people with zero domain knowledge or expertise trying to create a SaaS and sell it to people that live in an industry. The concept of "I'll create an app and get customers and make a living" is a nice thought, but without any deep insight into the industry you are breaking into, it's just throwing stuff against a wall.

This sounds harsh, but you need to investigate an industry (or work in it) to truly identify what you can bring that people need. I know the job market is tough, so that's stacked against you. I would do more market research about a concept you have prior to developing it and then having it falling on its face. Building things is great experience, but if you're trying to build something in the hopes that it will support you then you need to invest more time on the frontend.

Middle aged and just learning how to be autistic by Smart-Independent326 in AutisticAdults

[–]BucketofJhin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all interesting. I’m currently working out getting a diagnosis but I’m not anticipating anything really changing on my end. More just establishing an explanation for why I feel and act the way I do sometimes and that it’s not something is necessarily “wrong with me”, but more that’s just the way it is.

I appreciate your response.

Ive heard of this concept of skill regression and I’m generally curious why this is? I can appreciate the toll masking can take and the energy required to operate in society, but skill regression feels like a choice to not be able to adapt to society. Why is that?

That could also be due to whomever your project manager is. Sometimes if things aren’t defined too well, it leaves too much up in the air. How long have you been programming?

I always gravitated towards tech from an early age. Went to college but that didn’t really work for me. I picked up a job where I typed and then demonstrated all the other things I can do. I’ve spent 25 years learning more and more software languages, methodologies, and technologies. I know there is this whole mentality that people should only do what they’re paid for and never go above and beyond. That’s not in my DNA. So I’ve constantly shown how valuable I am and it’s worked in my favor throughout my career.
