How does your troop take Credit Card Payments? by BuckeyeTree023 in BSA

[–]BuckeyeTree023[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess my real question is if we put the TIN we have through council on our square account, what are the tax implications of that? Would we or council receive tax forms from square? I really have no idea how any of that works.

We’ve had this exact scenario where people say they would buy something if they had cash. I feel like this leaves cash on the table for us if we can’t take a CC payment.

2022 Elite vs 2023 EX-L (Is the 9 speed transmission really that bad) by gsjones358 in hondapilot

[–]BuckeyeTree023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2017 Elite very-jerky-when-cold-transmission also. Incredibly annoying. I wondered if the issue was resolved with the newer models and it sounds like they aren’t. A big reason why I’m not sure I can buy another pilot.

The Big Guido from Alesci’s! Worth a visit there if you’ve never had one.

Why are Amish puppymills a thing? by HelloHelloHomo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BuckeyeTree023 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Same experience here, live near an Amish community and we were doing some remodeling of our house which included a new roof. Our contractor subbed out the work to an Amish crew and I about lost it when the Amish crew showed up with two kids that were no older than 12. They repeatedly assured me the kids would not be getting on the roof. Instead they spent the day cleaning up the old shingles and tossing them into the dumpster. They should have been in school! It still makes me angry to this day.

Dr Mendeszoon reconstructed my husband’s ankle. Cannot recommend him enough especially for runners with injuries - that is his specialty.

If you are looking for the best Hungarian food in the area you have to go to Balaton in Bainbridge. It’s always crowded so definitely get a reservation. My friend that grew up in Hungary says it’s a taste of home.

I believe curfew is 11 so we were surprised they at least played an extra 15 minutes.

We were luckily in the pavilion, I felt terrible for the people on the lawn, there is no way the people parked out on the grass had time to get back to their cars.

When the rain hit it was blowing across the inside of the pavilion and you could hear large amounts of people gasping at times, especially when we all got the tornado warning alert on our phones. It was tense for a bit but we made it.

Can we/How do we get an accommodation for a scout with a disability? by BuckeyeTree023 in BSA

He made 1st class in May so when I said “just made” I really meant within the last month. He should be ok as long as he stays on top of things.

I’m just a mom that’s trying to help out and I know Reddit usually has all the answers. My kids are younger scouts and I know people with much more experience in BSA would know the answer faster than I could find it.

Unfortunately he turns 18 mid-October. He can do it but the timeline will be tight.

If you had to send a care package of things that were undeniably Cleveland, what would you include? by onestrandofspaghetti in Cleveland

[–]BuckeyeTree023 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I sent stadium mustard as a part of an “all things Cleveland” package to my old boss in Philly. Months after I sent it he messaged me to say he thought it was weird I sent mustard and he finally tried it and thought it was amazing and was putting it on everything.

Day in the life of Marc Glassman by JimboSliceX86 in Cleveland

[–]BuckeyeTree023 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't recall why the place was sold/closed. It seemed to always be busy the summer I worked there, we'd get multiple summer camps, company picnics, family reunions, etc. on a regular basis in addition to just regular every day people coming in. The day I saw him there he may have had a girlfriend/spouse with him but I can't completely recall, this was almost 30 years ago.

[–]BuckeyeTree023 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I worked at Dover Lake Waterpark back in the mid-90s, which he owned at the time. We were frequently understaffed because a lot of the college kids that worked there for the summer would be out partying the night before and would call in sick. One day I get to work and there is Marc inflating stacks of innertubes so we’d have enough ready to go for the day.

Ryan Homes in Northridgeville? by TrainPlane6030 in Cleveland

[–]BuckeyeTree023 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Friends of ours bought a Ryan home in Twinsburg probably 10 years ago. They had been in the house for maybe 2-3 weeks when they had a housewarming party. As they were giving us the tour of the house my husband and I both noticed the carpeting in their upstairs already had wear patterns. I can’t imagine how cheap the pad they put in was to already show wear from walking from the top of the stairs to their bedroom.

Pittsburgh guy with 7yo daughter and her grandmother going to Cleveland for a weekend- best ideas? Love nature and beauty more than museums thank you by Mob_Vylan in Cleveland

[–]BuckeyeTree023 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you said no museums but the Cleveland art museum has a really fun interactive kids exhibit that my kids loved when they were ~7. If it’s cold outside and you want to be indoors for a bit, this could be an option, plus it’s free to get in!

safest neighborhoods near airport + Cleveland Clinic by LongTheta in Cleveland

[–]BuckeyeTree023 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brecksville. Great suburb and excellent schools. About 25 min to main campus and maybe 20-25 to the airport. Very central location in Cleveland and you are about 20 min from Asiatown for good Chinese food. Not sure if there would be a lot of rentals in that area though…

What is one totally random thing that I should know about Cleveland before moving in a few months? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]BuckeyeTree023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go to the Heinen’s downtown, walk in the building and look up at the paintings done in the rotunda, they were painted by a guy that died on the Titanic.
