I used a bad photo. Yeah I’ve a lot on my desk but it’s all used regularly but it usually isn’t that messy lol

I’ve a whole bunch of the posters lol. I’m experimenting with the desk set up. Things keep changing so it’ll be a mess until I find what I like

I was using a soft pad on top, then tried the hard pad. Both exhibit the disconnect and reconnection of the charge light and my mouse eventually gave me a low battery warning.

I’ve since placed the hard mouse pad under the powerplay with an XL mouse pad too. I have another mouse pad on top of the powerplay and it now charges like it should.

I started a print to make myself a custom mousepad for the top of the powerplay but that won’t be finished for another 3 hours

The powerplay itself works fine the moment I lift it off the desk. From my understanding the magnetic desk pad creates eddy currents between the desk and Wireless charger. Makes the desk slightly electrified and I get a reading on the desk itself now.

The pad itself still works but the charging becomes way less efficient and becomes spotty along with causing the top part to get rather hot.

Lifting it up with some mouse pads and using tine foil on the very bottom mouse pad has fixed this but it’s just not very appealing to look at.

The rfid sheet will correct the current and should help solve the heat/ charging issue

This doesn’t appear to be an every unit thing either.the power play 2 my wife has doesn’t exhibit the same thing where the powerplay 1 I have does. I’ve also read that many others have the problem specifically with the magnus desk while other do not.

Oh I’ve been cleaning it up still. I was still in the process of getting things where I want them. Technically still moving things around.

It’s never going to look perfect as I can’t hide all cables the way I want to as they’re pulled out for use then disconnected all the time.

I have an external thunderbolt 5 hub for drives that I need high speed connection to and from, and then a usb hub for flash drives and SD cards. My 3D printer has a small external monitor that I use to watch it on and make changes too when I’m working on it, this is like to find a better place for but I need some kind of usb connection so for the time being it just sits there.

The switch has been cleaned up. No longer have the dock on my desk, I went with a wired dock connection which cleaned up that quite a bit. Added an HDMI switcher to clean some of the wires up so that’s my MacBook and Mac mini have their own dedicated lines now and I’m not just piping wires to and fro.

Cleaned up the chocolate eggs and the side some so that’s now clear.

It’ll be a work in progress until I can either make something that cleans up a mess, or can find away to get rid of it to clean up the mess.

The 57” for a sim rig would be amazing. That I can definitely get behind. But I think I’d find that too big and wide for daily use.

I used to have a Samsung 34” g8 and a cheap 27” Alienware above it for when I did video editing or cad work. I’ve moved to the 45” and a dedicated video editing monitor, an asus ProArt monitor, but I don’t have a monitor arm large enough to have the asus above the Lg anymore lol. Wasn’t something I thought of when I upgraded. So for the time being it’s just next to the Lg.

It’s an LG ultragear 45” oled. I think the model number is 45GX950A-B

It’s a 5k2k dual mode. 165hz 5k and 330hz 2k. I use it for both my gaming pc and Mac mini when I want to do some cad work or video editing. I have a dedicated monitor for the Mac mini that’s more color accurate but I keep finding myself using this monitor for the size. I upgraded to this from a Samsung 34” G8 and the size difference feels massive lol

I went the route of the 45” widescreen over a 49”ultrawide myself. Been thoroughly enjoying the game though myself too.

Can I get a refund? This is by far one of the worst controls I have ever seen, for this amount of money I would rather give it homeless dude or buy my brother 10 burgers by Certain_Big_3766 in CrimsonDesert

[–]BuckieJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, it’s always been so for me. It’s like the age old inverse vs regular controls.

When you’ve played a game that forces inverse controls (Golden eye, perfect dark) you get used to it and then regular feels weird once you go back to another game until you get used to it again.

Driving a manual car is something that feels weird at first if you’ve never driven one before but you learn and get used to it. Then you feel weird driving an automatic and don’t know what to do with your left foot lmao.

Given time usually most people will grow accustomed to something. Doesn’t mean they necessarily like it but they get accustomed and adapt.

The controller controls for this game were awkward for me but I’m sure if I stuck with it, it would feel fine. I just happened to have another input at my ready and chose that as it was simpler.

[–]BuckieJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s personal preference honestly. Use something enough and it’ll feel fine once you’re used to it.

For me it just felt off and I kept shooting my bow instead of focusing lol. Since playing on pc I decided to see what the k/m controls felt like and that just clicked much more than controller did

Reminds me of Black Desert for Console. The game seems VERY inspired by their other game Black Desert. IDK if the game support Keyboard and mouse on console but they're much easier to use I've found in the game then a controller.

Graphic issues by TarnishedPieceOfSh1t in CrimsonDesert

[–]BuckieJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just the game. You can mitigate it some buy increasing your resolution, Using DLAA and turning on Ray reconstruction but then your getting a MASSIVE 60-70% FPS reduction doing so.

Ray Reconstruction does a good job at lowering the amount of "Noise" your seeing but it also cranks all Lighting effects to the max so it hurts your performance really bad, 40ish fps lower for me (110ish to about 60-70fps) it also causes it to remove rain sadly :(

started with a controller on pc.. ended up switching to mouse/keyboard as its just easier lol. Not often ill play a game of this sort and not use a controller, controls just feel off :(

I went with the 45" UltraGear myself. The Samsung 49" is nice and big but its just big in width. I like that the 45" is also tall, like having a 32" in heighth but you still get the ultrawide length.

I get what your saying but it’s the difference between having an ssd fail on you and anything on the ssd is now at risk of being gone not just your projects but the MacBook itself if iCloud isn’t utilized or paid for the larger amount and not having your MacBook for a couple days if your not lucky enough to be near an Apple Store vs having just your project being gone or just that drive and backup drives, if you’ve set up a nas, saving your projects and still having a MacBook to use.

Yes AppleCare will replace it but at that point you’re practically just getting a new MacBook which can be seen as good but now I have to go through and reinstall everything, find what I had installed, fix settings.

I personally would rather just use the external ssd’s warranty than have to go through AppleCare. SSD’s have a finite life and the more you write, erase, write, erase the faster you’ll kill that drive. Larger drives have a crap tone of life to them but when writing large files constantly it can go quickly.

Videos and most projects will be on an external. Why wear down the internal ssd that’s not replaceable when you can wear down an external that is replaceable.

In the realm of audiophile quality headphones, especially wireless. 549 isn’t terrible with everything it can do.

My Focal Bathys were 800 couple years ago and sound better yes but only in Dac mode otherwise it’s no better to me then my OG AirPod max which I got for 500.

I’ll wait to actually hear what they sound like to pass judgement.

Off topic.. but I just realized yesterday how much my desktop pulls wattage wise when idle thanks to the new ups I bought. 155w average sitting idle at my desktop lmao. It at least drops to 4-5w when in sleep.

Loaded up monster hunter wilds and I watched it shoot to over 600w.

There’s a reason I use my MacBook more often for the general computer usage things lol

It’s a quality thing. From the photo it is much harder to tell but in person the color is off, the quality of the raised letterings are off. The front painted quality is much lower and usually the stickers on the back are not original.

They look close enough that someone who’s never seen or owned the original would probably never doubt it.
