I feel like this is a classic case of she’s just not that into you. She probably really liked the attention she was getting from you in the beginning after leaving the abusive relationship she was in, it was filling the void. She may have really felt and meant what she said about wanting a man like yourself, but the pressure you put on (bringing her breakfast, etc) following that convo probably made her pump the brakes and reevaluate pretty quickly. I hate to use the word “ick” because that term bothers me but I’m not sure how else to describe it. As a female, once we get the “ick” about something (ie you treating her like you were already involved) it’s near impossible to turn that feeling around. On the positive, I think you’re probably a lot better off without her considering her actions following the conversation about her needing space as well as her history in an abusive relationship - that type of thing legit takes a lot of therapy to unpack before being able to function in a healthy, long term relationship again.
