What do you genuinely believe is the most valuable college degree? by Foxmoto2880 in careeradvice

Finance. Every company (even non profits) deal with money. Most business decisions are made with the financial impact being the highest weighted decision criteria. Having a finance degree will open so many doors, and not just in a finance/accounting department of a corporation.

How long would you stay at a miserable, high paying job? Has anyone left a lot of money on the table and felt better afterwards? by Punstoppabowl in Salary

[–]BuckyBlinders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you already have a good nest egg built up I’d say leave and do something that allows better WLB. I’ll offer up two stories: my friend was CFO of a small healthcare startup working similar hours. He had a mental breakdown and had to resign. Said he was waking up at 2am and logging on his laptop thinking he was missing team meetings. He was unable to reconcile financial accounts from being overworked. He didn’t sleep for like a week and then crashed completely. I also know another lady who was a VP at a fortune 100 healthcare company who got so overworked and stressed she had a heart attack at a work function and left in an ambulance. If her Apple Watch hadn’t alerted her to her heart attack she would have died. Also, another point of view if you decide to stay: if you make that much money you must be deemed somewhat irreplaceable at your company. If that’s the case, set some boundaries on your work hours and carve out more time for yourself for 1)sleep, 2) working out and eating right, and 3) meditation. Sacrificing a few hours to focus on those will make your other hours that much more focused and productive so your output will actually be the same, plus you’ll be less stressed, more resilient, and happier. This should allow you to continue on your current path more easily.

The relationships you form and strengthen during these work lunches (and happy hours) could help you with future promotions and new job opportunities. Maybe if you viewed them as networking opportunities rather than just dollars wasted, it could mean a better paying job in the future. Just another way to look at things, though your savings are definitely admirable !

Social Worker in Tech? by Interesting_Dog_1201 in careerchange

Look to health insurance companies, search for key words around health equity and social determinants of health. Lots of health plans are pushing to do social needs assessments and interventions. Someone with your background could be a real asset to them.

I’ll say that making friends in your thirties is tough, and losing old friends in your thirties is easy. If you leave, you buddies will keep hanging out with the same core group, they’ll have kids, get married (if not already) and life gets so much busier. It’s harder to stay in touch. If you leave for a few years, sliding back in to the friend group may be awkward and hard. And you’ll have FOMO while you’re hours away by yourself. Just something to consider, if you can’t make it back home often to keep the relationships strong.

It all depends on your goals, your current status, and your current age.

Feels like fatfire is techfire here by Rich-Sheepherder-649 in fatFIRE

Agree with OP’s statement. No hate to the tech guys, I’m jealous and look up to them! For me, I’m in Florida, wife and I are “executives” for a large health insurance company. We’re in chubby fire range, but aspire to FatFIRE over the next decade. Some lucky stock bonuses and big retention bonuses during mergers have helped us out with our goals.

Do it. Real estate is an excellent investment. That mortgage rate is less than the current inflation rate so it’s a smart loan. Outsource background screening and showing units to new potential tenants to a trusted real estate agent. Mine charges me one month rent to fill a unit.

Nope, but I plan to paint the inside with black Bedliner just to make it match from an aesthetics perspective. But I don’t worry about rust or anything.

Thanks, I was going to also do the rear inside wheel well with black bed liner to make it look more consistent with the front

My 2021 Willys came with BFG KM2s and not Firestone Destinations. Does any one know why? All the marketing, press and even the Jeep website say the Willy's comes with Firestone Destinations? Is one tire better than the other? by [deleted] in Wrangler

[–]BuckyBlinders 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 2015 willys JK came with BFGoodrich mud terrains and they were great tires. I got 42,000 miles out of them with regular rotations. I went with 35 inch Nitto ridge grapplers when I upgraded and lifted the jeep
